Redskins Lose To Seahawks
The first playoff game at Fedex Field didn’t end well for the Redskins. The Redskins lost 24-14 and were eliminated from the playoffs. The Redskins jumped out to an early 14 point lead but would not score any more points in the game. They were playing with a hobbled QB in Robert Griffin III who didn’t look good most of the game. His knee eventually gave out on him forcing him from the game.
The Redskins offense never seemed to get in sync to me. The receivers looked as though they were bullied by the Seahawks and played scared. RB Alfred Morris only got 16 carries on the day and I don’t even know what’s that about. He was averaging 5 yards per carry too. I did not like the game plan offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan developed. He had a hobbled QB and he was trying to run these long developing plays knowing RGIII could escape the pressure if needed. I don’t know what Kyle was thinking when the Skins were backed up deep inside their own 3 yard line and Kyles calls some crap with fake handoffs and RG turning around in the endzone. It was one of the most ridiculous calls I’ve seen him make.
Pierre Garcon needs to learn to keep his head in the game. He simply looked as though he lost focus and did nothing in the game but argue with refs and Seahawk players. As I mentioned earlier, the WR corps looked and played as though they were intimidated by the Seahawks secondary.
Our defense made some plays but not nearly enough. They gave up 132 yards to Lynch and when it looked as though they had him stopped, he would find elsewhere to run. The Seahawks also tried to give the defense turnovers but we didn’t take them. S Reed Doughty dropped an INT that was thrown directly to him. We missed an opportunity for a fumble when Wilson kept the ball on an option read but dropped it right in front of one our defensive players. The bounces just didn’t go our way yesterday.
The big news will be what’s the status and extent of RGIII’s injury. There will also be some serious discussions on why he was allowed to play given how hobbled he was. Will Shanahan be known as the coach who killed a rookie QB in his rookie season? Redskins Nation braces itself for the worse.
The Redskins had a great season and no one expected it. They ran off 7 straight wins after the bye. The lost only one division game and they should have that one. They beat the rivaled Dallas Cowboys at Fedex Field to win the division. We have a good power runner who emerged and broke some records. We have a receiver, who when is focused, is very good and should compliment TE Fred Davis in the passing game. Finally, we hope (depending on status of knee) we have our franchise QB in RGIII.
