Packers Crush Redskins At Lambeau 20-38
The Packers crushed the Redskins 20-38 at Lambeau dropping them to 0-2 on the season. That’s one division loss and one conference loss. The Redskins again had a first half in which they couldn’t do anything on offense and not much on defense either. The defense did manage to get three early sacks of Aaron Rodgers but the Pack adjusted and swiftly demolished the Redskins.
There were dropped passes, bad 3rd down performance, inaccurate throws, bad angles, penalties (undisciplined) and the worst tackling I’ve seen in a long, long time. What are they doing in practice? Doesn’t look like much from what we’re seeing on the field. Where’s the concentration?
Morgan drops a pass that hits him in the hands on a 4th down play and the ball is intercepted. The problem for me was that he didn’t run his route long enough to get the first down.
This has to be the most penalized team in the NFL right now. There are just too many drive killing and stupid penalties being made by players. Shanahan keeps talking about the character, where’s the discinpline?
Tackling, a basic concept in football. This defense looks totally inept at it. They either dive and miss, go for the big hit (Meriweather) or are always trying to strip the ball away (Hall). Meanwhile, the runner is gaining more yards. It’s pathetic really. Haslett needs to break out the tackle dummies and go back to the basics with his players.
The Redskins are having problems sustaining drives because of their performance on 3rd downs early in the games. It’s either 3rd and long and teams are bringing the heat or it’s a penalty or dropped ball or the route wasn’t long enough. These problems need to be corrected and soon as we are heading into week #3 of the regular season.
Why does Kyle keep showing option formations when there is no threat of RGIII running with the ball? Defenses aren’t buying it. Griffin mentioned in his post-game presser that defenses are taking it away. I’ll have to look more closely at that and see what they are doing. Why isn’t Kyle rolling him out of the pocket or using more playaction from him under center?
On offense everything centers around Robert Griffin III and he’s still feeling his way back. He’s not playing the way RGIII plays. He’s still not stepping into his throws and there really is no threat of him running that I’ve seen. That is going to raise questions about whether or not he should be playing and it has already started according to tweets. Fans are already calling for Cousins. In my opinion, since he’s playing they have to let him play through it. Personally, I told folks a while ago that I would have given him an entire season to heal. He had no OTA’s, no training camp and no preseason action this season. He would have been on IR. He would have been mad along with a lot of folks but I believe it would have been in his best interest for his career. As it is we must deal with him playing his way back in games that count.
Right now this team is a mess on offense, defense and special teams. They are undisciplined, seem unprepared and not well coached right now. They need to figure out how to fix everything and they need to do it fast.
