Redskins vs. Lions Game Predictions from My 5 Personalities
Detroit has never beaten the Redskins in Washington. The Redskins have never beaten Matthew Stafford. Something’s gotta give.
Captain Prozac is on a 2-0 roll, and he’s gloating. Not only did he call a surprising defeat by Philadelphia in week one, but he nailed his prediction last week by calling for a 38-20 beat-down by the Packers. Enough already. My four other personalities are chomping at the bit and ready to weigh in with their predictions against the Lions.
Captain Optimist: Redskins win 34-24
The Redskins are at home, they’re hungry, and they’re angry. For the first time this season, Griffin takes control of the offense from the onset, and directs a fast-paced surgical drive down the field with quick hitters over the middle, screens and nice runs by Morris set up by blocking on the edges. Griffin looks much more comfortable, Morris is determined and the receivers have a much more productive day. Jordan Reed impresses with another strong performance, securing some clutch 3rd down conversions. The defense fares better, but still has some miscues. A key turnover halts a 4th quarter drive by Stafford. At the end of the game, the team trots of the field with a little bit of the swagger they developed last year.
Captain Realist: Redskins win 24-21
This game has a “must-win” feel to it, and the Redskins will come out improved over the past 2 weeks. With a 40 percent chance of showers, conditions could be less than ideal, but the Redskins will grind out a workmanlike performance. Megatron and will give the secondary a few fits, and Stafford will make his plays, but the Redskins will prevail. Alfred Morris will quietly produce another 100 yard performance in a nail-biting win.
Captain Vegas: Redskins win 27-24
Captain Vegas makes his game prediction based on the point spread and the over/under. Redskins are favored by 2 points with a 49 point over/under. This week, Captain Vegas is taking Washington to cover the spread, and will take the over.
Captain Prozac: Lions win 34-28
How many times do I have to tell you? We suck. Until the Redskins can prove they are capable of winning a game, we can expect a repeat performance of the last 2 weeks. Detroit will break out to an early lead and force us to play catch-up. Calvin Johnson will have a monster day, and Reggie Bush can pick up over 100 yards on one leg against our run defense. Suh, Fairley and Ansah will blow up the interior of the line and destroy Griffin. These guys are scary good and this is going to be a very ugly game to watch. Robert will launch another heroic effort to come from behind, only to fall short. Until we upgrade in all areas, this team is going to be pure hell to watch. Need to check my Prozac prescription.
Captain Morgan: Redskins win 28-17
“Hey Prozac - just bite me.” The Redskins are going to come out and delight the home crowd with a great performance that will have fans wondering where they’ve been the last 2 weeks. Griffin will throw for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. Morris will break loose for another touchdown. The defense will wake up and actually start tackling. Secondary will register 2 interceptions and the defense will recover a fumble. Best of all, there will be far fewer penalties and mistakes. Suh gets ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.
After reviewing the debate between my 5 personalities, it’s time to pick a side. This week, I’m going with Captain Morgan. Redskins win 28-17.
Captain Prozac: 2-0
Captain Optimist: 0-2
Captain Realist: 0-2
Captain Vegas: 0-2
Captain Morgan: 0-2
