Redskins Cut 5 Players
The Redskins trimmed their roster to 75 players today. Among the players cut were LB Alfred Fincher, OL Devin Clark, WR Marcus Hagans, Safety Michael Grant, and defensive lineman Michael Marquardt. The 53-man roster has to be set by September 5th. It’s not surprise that none of the draft picks were cut as we know the Redskins kept all of the last year.
There are not a lot of position battles left with Stephon Heyer being named the right tackle and the backup quarterback position going to Todd Collins. Orakpo will be manning the strong side linebacker position. I guess the only real battles left are at the kicking position and and who will be the 3rd string quarterback. According to Zorn, the battle is even between the Shaun Suisham and Dave Rayner.
The battle a lot of fans will be watching is between Colt Brennan and Chase Daniel. Chase had a pretty good game against the PIttsburgh Steelers but didn’t see any playing time against the Patriots. Colt Brennan played most of the 2nd in that game. It’ll be interesting to see how the time is divided amonst the QB’s in the last game. We know Campbell will get a series or two and Collins may get a series as well. He also didn’t see playing time against the Patriots. Will they give Colt time or will this be the evaluation of Chase.
Redskins fans will be watching.
