Redskins vs Giants - 2nd Quarter
End of the first half. Redskins 17, Giants 3
The Redskins completed the last drive they started in the 1st quarter by scoring a touchdown when Grossman found Moss in the endzone. That made the score 10-0 Redskins. The Redskins then created a turnover when Manning’s pass was deflected by London Fletcher and picked off by Atgowe who made a great play on the ball. The play was challenged by the Giants but it was indeed an interception.
On the drive, the Redskins face a 3rd and 14 and Rex hits Gaffney who makes a great move to get the first down. Redskins get the ball at the 6 yard line. Rex hands off to FB Darrell Young who plowed straight ahead for a touchdown. Redskins 17-0.
The Redskins also converted on 3rd and 11 and a 15 yard personal foul penalty was tacked on because of a helmet-to-helmet hit on Grossman by Jason Pierre-Paul.
The Redskins had the ball with 2 minutes remaining in the half but were unable to convert on a 4th and short. Rex went for the deep throw but the Redskins were called for holding and the Giants declined the penalty. The Giants took over and moved the ball into field position and kicked a 40 yarder to put their first points on the board.
The Redskins have looked decent in the first half minus the two INT’s thrown by Grossman. Kyle eventually started running the ball with Helu and Royster and the Redskins also used a little trickery early on.
There’s still a lot of football left to be played and anything can happen. I’m sure that some Redskins fans would rather see the Skins lose to get a better draft position and because of the Cowboys.
