Nearly 7 years ago, hR co-owner Mark Buterbaugh (PennSkinsFan) started a small Geocities website titled Mark’s Redskins Net,completely devoted to the Washington Redskins franchise, informative, but non-interactive. The site grew to nearly 200 unique vistors daily. The relevance is clear, Mark’s Redskins Net was the seed for hR. Without the beginning of a simply, small site, hR woudl never have been formed. Through internet interaction with other Redskins fans, Mark’s Redskins Net merged with another upcoming Redskins fan website, Redskins Central (RC). Redskins Central grew in content and design. BUT, even fruther, it became interactive, giving readers of Mark’s Redskins Net, a forum to develop friendship and grow a Redskins community. Through the RC forums, Mark was introduced to Kenny Scott (rskinsfan10) and Mike Dorsey (hail2skins), current hR owners. The both are members of the Redskins Marching Band and the Funky 4. Eventually Kenny and Mike become forum Moderators at RC.
and During the 2002 season, Mark’s partner at RC left the site for personal reasons, leaving a thriving fansite and rapidly growing forum to just Mark. A inter-site friendship began to grow between RC and RedskinsHQ. Eventually that interaction led to a merger of the two sites into the new RedskinsHQ, which gave the site more membership, better design features and more interactivity.
Despite efforts by some of the most loyal members of RC, the merger eventually occurred and the forums merged with ease. RC was able to drag one of its prized regular members over to the new Redskins HQ, current hR Owner Mike Perdue (Carmike), and even talked him in to joining the Moderating team. Redskins HQ quickly began establishing itself in the top three of all Redskins fan sites by providing fresh, updated content and having a family friendly, meaningful fan forum for all. Those values, RC members shared with HQ members, making a perfect mix. Leading the way for Redskins HQ in making RC welcome, was HQ Moderator Thomas Threlkeld (Spence), current hR owner. Eventually, as Redskins HQ original owner began digressing from involvement in the site, Tom stepped up and literally began running Redskins HQ along side with Mark. Sharing similar visions and a friendship clicking from the get go, Mark and Tom continued growing Redskins HQ. Eventually, not having enough access to internal controls to keep the site fresh, Mark and Tom began devising a plan for a new website. A website that would provide fresh content, simple, clear and easy reading look with a powerful forum community based on respect, meaningful discussion, while providing a friendly, family oriented atmosphere. Realizing they had three core people they need involved to grow this new website from scratch, Mark and Tom welcomed Mike Dorsey, Kenny Scott and Mike Perdue into ownership, a group of five, determined to build the best Redskins fansite on the Internet. This new website went LIVE in NOVEMEBER 24, 2002!
That new website was
A fiercely loyal community followed the five owners to the new website. hR was a progressing friendship between the five owners, all with a common goal of protecting, defending and growing the community of Redskins faithful that had been built over 3 years. hR has taken the lead with two other large fan sites in providing the best fans in the nation of the best franchise in the NFL with great content, great interaction, and great discussion, stories and discusioin that is truly independent, by the fans, for the fan, and with the fans. It is the only way to go. Company press releases and public relations stories are fine for feel good stuff, but the truly independent fan websites that hR is proud to be part of that provide real content, real opinion and real discussion for the best fan base in America.
Starting June/July 2007 begins a new ERA for hailRedskins.com, a new design, blog based website to provide fresher, more humorous and better opinon based commentary on the best franchise in the NFL, the Washington Redskins.
