DAYTON, Tenn. - The county that was the site of the Scopes "Monkey Trial" over the teaching of evolution is asking lawmakers to amend state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature.
The Rhea County commissioners approved the request 8-0 Tuesday.
Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the measure, also asked the county attorney to find a way to enact an ordinance banning homosexuals from living in the county.
"We need to keep them out of here," Fugate said.Source (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/world/8209278.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp)

Why does this whole thing remind me of the so-called miscegenation laws? I don’t see how this much different and like the battles over miscegenation in the 50’s and 60’s this new fight is going to be less than pleasant.

Any such law is blatantly unconstitutional and would be struck down by just about any court in the U.S. But this is the sort of thing that happens when the White House encourages morons who are full of hate.

These losers are way outta line, but don't blame the White House. The White House just tried to appease the majority of the people in this country. They weren't promoting hate. That's your problem Spence. If someone doesn't agree with your point of view, it's hate or libel or something ridiculous.

Sorry, Jporter, I don't believe THAT much in coincidence. This Tennessee county has been full of dimwits for generations. No move to actually bar homosexuals from living in the county. A few weeks after Mr Bush announces he wants to enshrine bigotry into the U.S. Constitution, this happens.
If you wish to believe that's just a coincidence, go ahead. It's still a free country.*
*As long as you're not gay.

This is crazy. Gay people are people too. The law should never be passed.
This is what happens when a group goes overboard looking for "advantages" when they perform perverted acts. They start to yell and scream, and some other group yells and screams against it. This is a common cycle. Since the Gays are all up in America's faces, an opposing group feels the need to do so as well. "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".
The gays should have never gone as far as they have with this Marriage thing, it was inevitable that some dimwits would come out with this crap about passing laws to ban living in a county.
Two wrongs don't make a right!

The latest polls show that the majority of Americans oppose a constitutional amendment to deal with gay marriage. Since the Bush White House is for an amendment that means he speaks for a minority of people in the country.
I'll give Bush credit where credit is due. At least he is finally showing some interest in a minority issue.

I could be wrong, just going off memory, but I thought the last poll the majority of americans were against gay "marriage", but ok with "civil unions?"
