Safety Best Ever vote was not a close one. KenHouston ran away in the voting with 75.95% of the vote and Brad Edwards a very distant second place with 8.86%

Now, go vote for Cornerback

If I recall correctly, last year we had to scrap this poll and vote for 2nd best CB in Redskins history. Darrell Green is the obvious #1 with Pat Fischer coming in at a distant 2nd place for me.

Had to go with Mr. Redskins himself Darrell Green.

This should be a landslide like no other...DG. You can count on one hand the number of times this guy got beat in 20 years...And the only WR that consistently gave him trouble was Irvin on the slant...kind of hard to defend when you're giving up 6 inches, 40 pounds and getting shoved as Aikman is releasing the ball. Plus, it's no stigma to have trouble with another HOFer (like Irvin probably will be) as compared to having trouble with, say Amani Toomer (Champ).

I remember a Henry Ellard in his prime giving Darrell fits as well as Willie Gault

Wow, I certainly don't remember either of those two giving him "fits".

Dex you're right about his battles with Irvin, just think about it, so many of them were either a great play by Irvin or by littlerly a matter of inches!!! Can't see how our living legend doesn't get a 100% vote! This is too easy, you can vote either with your heart, or your mind, and either way you come up #28!!!!! Twenty years of talent, effort on top of his talent and the whole time with complete CLASS!!!! Have 28 years in as a fan and 20 of those were spent rooting for him, the guy has to hold a special place in your heart if you're a Skins fan!!!!!! But this isn't a 100% Green -love post,,, other guys deserve mention!!! Pat Fischer had to be lb. for lb. the toughest s.o.b. to ever play! Loved Lamar (what he have 10 intercepts in 79?) and felt so bad for him with Tony Hill,,,the only time I ever felt as bad was when Stephen fumbled in Dallas in the year of Marty. Always like Joe Lavender,,,but just how did he see anything with those crazy shades????????

Let's close it! It may affect the psychological status of some CB's. #1 Mr. Redskin #2 Pat "Tough" Fischer. Everybody else, 0 votes, even though you were great! I still remember you Bass! Help us not getting outscored.

I think my screen name says it all! I really enjoyed watching Pat Fisher - he had to be one of the hardest hitters in his day...but Darrell Green stands heads and tails above them all. No question on this one.

Green should win by a land slide for best ever on the team. I know that I havn't bee watching sports for as long as he played, but I have been alive pretty much close to the day. With that being said, if he was with one organization and did the things he did , well then in this day and era it seems like he could be a canadate to win Mr. Represenative for any team in any sport. Although their is a strong chance he would lose to MJ.

DG, then Pat Fischer.

Hailyeah

DG is the only Mr. Redskin. Jerry Rice once gave his endorsement to Darrell as the best that he'd lined up against. That says it all.

Darrell...

Should be the second best Skins corner not the first.

Any one who ever saw 5 foot nothing climb up 7 foot Harold Carmicheal's back and beat him about the head and shoulders then dare him to get up and run another route has not seen true greatness. {heights were added for dramatic effect]. No disrespect to Mr Green intended.

That's Heart and Desire, not Greatness. The reality is that Harold Carmichael won most of his battles with Fischer.
Green was never dominated and often took the best WR out of the game......

Any man who can still run a 4.2 at the age of 40, after playing in the NFL for 19 years gets my vote....

Anyone remember the game in the Metrodome between the Vikes and the Skins (I think around 1998) when Darrell was about 36 and matched up with Randy Moss, and Dennis Green called for deep ball after deep ball to Moss? Darrell must have broken up half a dozen of those 40+ yard jump balls thrown to Moss and held Randy to about 6 catches for 50 yards for the day. Moss has 2 fewer career TDs than Carmichael in only 6 seasons (Carmichael played 14)...I'd say shutting down the most lethal deep threat time and time again over the course of a game is true greatness.

D. Green did what he did with Speed, talent and desire. Sometimes greatness can not be measured by speed, and talent. Pat Fisher was a small man with no great talent except the heart
of a lion. Each week Pat Fisher lined up against taller, faster, and stronger wideouts and I'll bet each time they said @#!%% not this guy again. p.s. Harold Carmicheal said on NFL films the db he hated to face the most was Pat Fisher. OK, D. Green was the greatest. But it would have been nice to see Pat on the same field on the other side.

As a kid, my favorite defensive player was Lamar Parrish.....until DG came to town. Loved the way he (Parrish) played. If it wasn't for Darrell Green, Lamar would be my second choice (tied with Champ).

Jon Creveling

1906, nice to see I'm not the only Parrish fan out there! I wouldn't rip anyone that voted Fischer though, what was he? 5'-6'?...25? years later I still remember him taking out Giants te Tucker in piggyback fashion! Yeah jumped his back and kicked the dudes kneecaps to bring him down!!! BALLS, GUTS!!! Champ never evoked any emotion in me for some reason.
