Online Games Sink TV Ratings
The television ratings slump that has griped the industry is likely related to the gamers who fire up their systems between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m., according to this CNN article.
Sony funded a study to figure out when people are playing video games, and it turns out they are mostly cranking up their systems instead of flipping on the tube. The numbers are even more disturbing for the males between the ages of 18 and 34. Typically, they are going online between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., smack dab in the middle of prime time.
