Yes,Joe wanted Mark over anyone one else rumored to be available.Thats good enough for me.
I may have just been a little tyke when Gibbs was around the first time, but i seem to remember him winning with every guy he brought in...Gibbs will get what he wants out of whoever is under center, but the fact that he was so high on Mark speaks volumes to me.

Long before the season is over Mark Brunell will make it very clear why Joe Gibbs [who has forgotten more about quarterbacks than any of us will ever know] brought him to Washington.

I don't favor the move for the price we paid. The team should have let Brunell get released and bid on him in FA. It's doubtful that anyone would have outbid us or even come close to the $8 million in upfront money he got from us. Ramsey is superior at this point in his career, physically. I think Gibbs and staff will bridge the gap as far as knowledge and Ramsey will impress.
Remember, Aikman was nothing special until he got a running game and Norv Turner.

I agree. Either he wins the job and leads this team into the season, or he steps in for Ramsey and the team doesn't miss a beat.

This I will vote on.
It is always preferable to have a second good quarterback on any team. And I think as a veteran, he will play exceptionally well over the next two years.
Ramsey IS the future but he will make mistakes that will cost the team games as a young QB. He needs to learn Joe's system not Steve's. He's going to find out what it is like quarterbacking in a REAL NFL offense not a gimmicky college offense that works because you can recruit better players than about anyone else.
Brunell won't make those mistakes.
Besides Joe wanted him first before anything or anyone else. Joe has won three Super Bowls. By my count, that is three more Super Bowls than any know it all hR fan on this board. So I don't care what any of you think; if Joe wanted it, I want it. So there.....:D

Mark may be up there a little in age but he can still turn a negitive into a possitive with his legs.

Most definately! While I voted that we overpaid for Brunell, I'm more than happy to have Brunell as a Redskin. You can't go wrong with two good QBs.
And, as someone else mentioned earlier, if coach Gibbs wanted him, thats good enough for me.

Didn't favor bringing him here. I thought Patrick was making great progress. I did believe we needed another veteran QB - just not a high priced one.

I would rather have him then patrick...I still do not think pat is a team player..now he will see first hand... what a real qb should be like in the league

Two is better than one in the NFL. If Brunell wins the competition then obviuosly Ramsey was not ready. If Ramsey wins out and starts then Brunell will be a great mentor and backup.
Almost no team has made it through the season without losing their starting QB, for at least a period.
This is great insurance for us. OBTW, we probably could not have signed him for anything less. Other teams were looking and wanted him.

Guidence That is why Gibbs wanted Brunnell. Thiesmann had Billy Kilmer to watch and learn from. Mark Rypien had Doug Williams. So now Ramsey has Brunnell. Brunnell is the best QB on our roster right now. Hopefully Ramsey will learn all he can and maybe be a starter in a year or 2. He clearly is not ready to lead us NOW.

I voted no, only because the price was too high in picks, bonus and cap room
Happy to have a veteran QB who can play Gibbs style football

I totally agree with this post!
I think that all of my initial disbelieve/anger at the Redskins for bringing someone in over Ramsey is gone now.
Ramsey has (like so many others) proven to me, with his whining and threats to leave the team, that he is about himself first and about the team second. If he stays here, learning and developing for a season or two as a backup (if that’s what happens) then I will be surprised.
The players of today do not have the long term loyalty like the players of 20 years ago. So if it’s every player for himself, then why should fans be expected to be loyal to the players?

Voted no: he costs ways to much. However, I think he could earn it and I will root for him to do so.

Voted yes. I like Brunell here, but not liked the price, but well, that's another poll. I would have liked more to get Jeff Garcia or wait till Brunell got released, so we would have still that 3rd rounder. I like Brunell here not for what he will mean for us on the field, but for what he will mean for our future QB, Patrick Ramsey. Pat will learn A LOT from a real QB and from a real HC.

Simply said, yes.

I voted yes. Don't get me wrong, I love Ramsey. He took a beating for the the Burgundy and Gold last year and I think he's going to be a beast. But i also think he could learn a think or two from Brunell.
I voted no. In my opinion, we brought in a good player, but at a price that exceeded the necessity. Our cap dollars could have been better focused while grooming Patrick and helping build the rest of the team.

I voted yes, only because I truly think that Patrick Ramsey is a future superstar and can only get better by learning even more from a vet like Brunnell.

I like it. He give Gibbs some security in his offense, no Atlanta scenario. Plus Mark Brunnell is a winner, you can se it in his face and when he talks. If hbe plays half as good as he used to when he would play in the old AFC Central these guys are gonna be pretty good. I'm rooting for him.
