That attitude of this team likely won't let him slouch around. With the coaching staff if he's lacking motivation he'll be on the bench.

Everyone but Pastabelly liked him as a young up and comer.
I am glad we got him.

He better work hard and get fired up...don't think Williams or any other couch on this staff will be satisfied with anything less.

I think it’s hard to be motivated when you’re on a team that collapsed as badly as the Giants.

i voted great pick up, he was one of the top rated free agents, and base on age and everything else, apparently our coaching staff really wanted him.

Axegrinder, i thought about that, maybe griffin was pretty good or else everyone would just have to double up on strahan.

im with yudolindo on this one. it is hard to be a motivated player on a 4-12 team. plus, with people like washington and arrington, plus the coaching staff this year, i would count on that problem going away very quickly......

Large signing bonus in hand, brilliant D coordinator who chose him over other available FA DT's, how can he not be motivated for next season?

here's the top 5 defensive line free agents, according to cbs sportsline. i think we got the best one with all things considered (age, cost, production, injuries, etc)
1. Jevon Kearse, DE, Titans (Signs with Philadelphia on Mar. 3)

2003 Key Stats
GP: 14 Tackles: 41 Sacks: 9.5
Int: 1 TDs: 0 FF: 4

Prisco: Buyer beware. If he is healthy, he's worth a huge contract. But the team has to make sure not to blow this one because of medical trouble.
2. Robaire Smith, DT, Titans (Signs with Houston on Mar. 5)

Key Stats
GP: 16 Tackles: 35 Sacks: 4.5
Int: 0 TDs: 0 FF: 1

Prisco: Based on his age (26), and his productivity, this is a top free agent. He will be missed in Tennessee.
3. Grant Wistrom, DE, Rams (Signs with Seattle on Mar. 4)

Key Stats
GP: 16 Tackles: 60 Sacks: 7.5
Int: 0 TDs: 0 FF: 1

Prisco: He is a tough, hard-nosed player who gets the most out of his ability. Is he a star? No. But he's Pro Bowl worthy at times.
4. Cornelius Griffin, DT, Giants (Signs with Washington on Mar. 4)

Key Stats
GP: 15 Tackles: 55 Sacks: 1
Int: 0 TDs: 0 FF: 0

Prisco: He hasn't played as well as he did as a rookie four years ago, but Griffin has the ability to be solid run player and can get some inside pressure.
5. Warren Sapp, DT, Bucs (Signs with Oakland on Mar. 22)

Key Stats
GP: 15 Tackles: 43 Sacks: 5
Int: 0 TDs

kearse is a tweener, gets hurt a lot, run at him and he's gonna get hurt (comes with a "buyer beware" tag) and he costs too much for a guy with back to back foot injuries. interesting how the titans let robaire smith go after they already lost kearse. grant witrom? maybe...sapp? no way.

williams is a very aggressive coach, who will keep griffin excited to play and will make him do a lot

The loss of John Fox and Jessie Armstead , direction and in #98's case leadership seemed to effect him, also the "Hammer" after 13 years? was slowing down allowing teams to key on Griff more. He's a good player that may have upside if Williams can prune him alittle! Should be a massive improvement of Chase-Holsey-Daulton-Haley!

Chase-Holsey-Daulton-Haley ahh the 4 headed monster. now we got brandon noble and griffin in there. griffin must have been doing something in NY for old gap tooth to get all those sacks.

Exactly. Williams will definitely have Griffin playin his best football or he will be replaced. He's still got an upside and will improve given the right opportunity.
