The results will be better because the D will be better under Williams.

I said yes. I really don't know but he is the best we've got right now. Champs don't just fall in your lap every day.

I always like a guy coming home to the team he loved as a kid. This will give him an edge, to play with the Legend.
He will try hard for Gibbs and will be adequate enough.

Definitely adequate, he's a pro-bowl player in terms of his talent, but can he stay healthy?

i said no cuz he cant match the talent of champ on a regular basis

You can't replace a player the caliber of Champ. Springs has a lot of question marks about his health. He's a quality player but we can't expect him to replace Champ and give us what Champ gave this team.

I went with yes because the question was phrased as an "adequate" replacement. This depends greatly on his ability to remain healthy for atleast 12-13 games IMO. It also wouldnt hurt if we put a D-lineman or two on the field in front of him.

I voted no because I want to see a bill of health first. If he can return to his form of a few seasons ago then by all means a yes as Smoot is also improving.

Agree with you totally with that.

I'm going to say he will be a better pick up than if we had kept Champ. Think of our off-season tendencies to spend freely.

I think he'll do just fine.

Shawn Springs is excited to be home. He'll work hard to stay healthy. Under Joe Gibbs staff he'll perform well. However, it's hard to replace a Champ Bailey. Almost like trying to replace a D. Green.

My sentiments exactly. I believe Springs will work hard and produce. He may not be Champ but with the entire D playin hard and under a real D cordinator he won't have to be a savior. If he remains healthy, which I believe he will, he will be dangerous.

i voted yes too, also based on the "adequate" thing. bailey never missed a game in 5 years. thats a tough act to follow. it seems we are replacing him by committee, maybe to play more zone... here's our DB depth chart now, i posted this in another thread, but i think it explains how bailey will be replaced.
LCB Springs Shawn, Harris Walt, Jimou Ade, Hall Michael
SS Ohalete Ifeanyi, Lott Andre
FS Bowen Matt, Franz Todd
RCB Smoot Fred, Bauman Rashad, Brown Ralph
that's 11 db's. pretty good depth, even if Ade Jimou and Michael Hall dont make the team. springs, smoot, harris and brown have all been starters before, and bauman is not bad.

Not too crazy about him getting "Postered" by Terrell Owens in the Sharpie game.
