"Every player scheduled to visit is a first-round prospect."

Interesting tidbit, to me it signals that we are not looking at trading down. If we were, wouldn't we at least bring in some borderline 1st-2nd round talents? Maybe this is normal though, and no team invites anything other than first round material for interviews. Anyone have an idea?

Finally some player news:

"The Redskins have cooled their interest in reserve defensive tackle Peppi Zellner, sources said, but remain interested in re-signing defensive tackle Bernard Holsey"

The visit of Dunta Robinson kinda surprises me. If we are bringing him in thats a sure sign that we are looking at guys who could be available in the mid first round. I really don't see CB as a need although I really do like Robinson as a talent.

I didn't know Warrick Holdman was still available. Is he a MLB?

After all, Winslow did choose the Postons. Bad move IMO.

Why a CB? There are good ones, but I don't understand, altough there are again some thoughts of trading Smoot, or maybe losing him next season.

Ugh. The Postons.

According to a source, if the Redskins trade down in the first round for multiple picks, the club will target a defensive end and linebacker such as Miami's Jonathan Vilma or D.J. Williams.

Okay, I know we'd like to have a ridiculously stacked LB corps, but come on, using our first-rounder for it when other positions are so weak? Get Udeze, get Smith, get Starks, get Harris, get Winslow, hell, even get Taylor before trading down for a linebacker.

Vilma and DJ are animals. Madden once said DJ Williams was the only player he's ever seen that could make the jump from High School to Pros. I know it sounds crazy but he said about four years ago. That's not the point. The point is that they are both special talents and Definitely worth a look if you are looking to build a defense "outside in" as Williams prefers and intends to do. That would also mean that we would have additional picks, were we would probably pick up DT or DE. So I think it's a win win.

I hope they give Wilfork a look...

And I second the no linebacker sentiment. We have way to much money and high picks tied up in our LBs and way to little in our d-line and arguably our secondary as well.

It seems to me that they may show other teams that they have intrest in players they may want to stimulate some trade talks. Also there could be alot of smoke and mirrors going on.

By letting Trotter walk, we've weaken the LB corp - IMO. So looking at the top prospects at that position makes sense...... Gibbs&Co are going to keep us ALL quessing until draft day..... Bringing in 12 players would be normal. If the right deal does not materialize, then they have to make the best move with the #5 spot BUT if you do trade down, you better have done your Homework on those middle frist guys.

I like that we are keeping our options open by looking at a lot of different players at different positions. On draft day that will allow us to take the best deal. Maybe the best deal will be to keep the pick we just don't know yet. We do have needs at many positions and we need some depth as well so if they trade down and get a DL and LB or CB. Thats all good.

I think they are just doing their due diligence, and this is all just the normal routine. I mean, teams outside of the top 10 should be interviewing Sean Taylor too since crazier things have happened.

I think it's smart to review players who are mid first rounders in case we do trade down. Hopefully the Patriots will get the picture that we are not going to let Taylor fall to the Lions to get that sweet action (what was it - like 4 picks).

I wonder how the news of Winslow hiring the Postons affects our #5 pick. To pass up a talent like that due to his agent is mind boggling.

Options is the name of the game...!!! The Coach and staff will keep us guessing as Patrick said . .

Seems to me a bit puzzling they woudl discuss LB and CB. We sign Spring, solidify the defensive backfield with Brown and Harris. This is puzzling. Then at LB, they have of course Lavar, but then Marcus Washington, Kevin Mitchell, they are high on Clifton Smith, and possibly retaining Antonio Pierce. Puzzling to say the least. To me, oru focus shoudl be on safety, DL, and TE.

We've got Harris and Smith coming in, Udeze to be announced, but no mention on Wilfork.... Are the Skins not interested in him or will he be in at a later date??

I would think looking at LB and CB would be in case we traded down and the player or players we had targeted were unavailable. It doesn't shock me too much at either position though. We were flirting with the notion of going after Bobby Taylor and Mitchell isn't the long term solution at MLB. I think it just seems to fall under the category of taking the Best Available Player.
