How safe is Fed Ex from terrorism?

As safe as any place else.

I agree, but 90,000+ is an awfully inviting target.I do know the fans are tough and we aren't going to change anything. This was probably a stupid post, but I was curious on everyones take on security?

The one thing that FedEx has in it's favor is it sits in the main landing pattern for Andrews AFB. My understanding is they are at the ready for any aircraft that doesn't belong because of the planes that it serves as a parking lot for, a few more important then others.

Just make sure you are not a young clean cut handsome red head. My son was frisked 7 out of 8 games last season. Now if you are a overweight 40 plus balding white guy, they won't touch you! I guess the conclusion is my son looks more like a terrorist than I do....or security has a crush on him!

I was nervous about that for the Monday night game a couple years ago that was scheduled near the 9/11 anniversary. Obviously nothing came of it, but prime time tv and 90,000 people...could be inviting.

God what a beating we took against Philly that night...ugh

Nowhere is safe, but a stadium that frisks reduces the chances that someone could exploit the large concentration of people to deliver a chemical or biological agent which is the real risk. While stadiums are not hard targets they are not soft either and to be honest, there are easier pickings. Further, I doubt that any plane would make it close to FedEx on game day. Because of how dispersed parking is and rules barring certain trucks, it would be very hard to execute an effective attack using a truck bomb on a stadium. I feel more on edge riding the New York City subway than going to see a football game.

Jeez, what a sobering thought. I guess we could ask ourselves if anything is safe nowadays.

My wife and I went to the Dover NASCAR race, I think the date was Sept 23 2001. I can tell you that was an uneasy feeling. Security is always in the back of my mind anytime I attend a sporting event. However I think as Americans we all need to give terrorism the finger and not let it change the way we do anything.

not really a fitting topic, but understandable. if you start with the what-ifs i doubt you'll ever be leaving your house, or your bomb shelter. can't be living in fear.

(not saying anyone here has a bomb shelther or lives in fear however)

While they do frisk at the games, they make it clear that they do every 3rd person - so it wouldn't take a genius to get something in, which deeply bothers me. At the same time I agree with the last post and we cannot change our lives - otherwise they win!

Most events that I have been too have been in New York. Needless to say, everyone gets checked. It should be the same here: frisking adds little wait to a line and it could save many lives.

Actually we do check everyone.

The Fed-Ex security team checks jackets, coats and handbags. The other company called CSI does the actual pat down as reassurance. Sometimes a person can carry a weapon in their shoe, boot or back pants pocket.

This is a sign of the times, and most if not all arenas have decided to do it since 911.

I do not worry about it at all, I believe the likely hood of another successful attack is low. Also if you worry about it and are afraid of the "what ifs" the terrorist win. So I will never not go somewhere because of a threat, just not my style

A similar question has been asked of Old Trafford as it's one of the biggest soccer stadiums in the UK (~70,000 seater) as it's been sited as a potential target. I think it's just a case of being wary, being prepared, and don't let the 'potential' threat spoil a good game!

IMO, they are doing the best job they can. I would be more frightened of a Bio-attack then a plane or a bomb. But, I don't let anything stop me from getting out, because then the terrorist would win.
I flew with my kids 1 month after 9-11. I wasn't going to allow anyone to take my life (in every sense) from me!
Also, since we travel alot, we are almost always flagged at the airport (the airlines do this, not security) and we always get the shake down!
But by now, we're used to it...

im not concerned about it. but if it does happen, they can do it when philly is at dallas. all jokes aside, i think if it will happen, the olympics is a bigger target.

The question is: How big a target is the Cowboys stadium?

I was afraid this would happen when I saw this thread ... I hope we don't start poking fun at terrorism since it's not a laughing matter. How devistating would it be to lose any team, regardless for our feelings for them. Sure I want to beat everyone we play, but I don't want them to die. I'm assuming the comments were made in humor, but I don't think this is the right topic for that.

I do not think terrorist can subdue the hype of us redskins fans on game day!

I went to the NO game went the Sniper was about in DC, and I(and alot of people around me) laughed at the guy with the bulls-eye on his back. My section cracked up after Ramsey threw his third pick, someone yelled "Where's the sniper when you need him". You should be vigiliant and careful, but everyone has to die sometime, and you cant let the Terrorists really win by making your life misrable when they dont attack.

They frisk people now, but I think any determined terrorist could get his or her work done at FedEx. Probably true of every other stadium or arena in the country.

i agree that we need to be wary, but when it comes down to it, everything in this town is a target. the metro, the capitol...everything....there are much more inviting targets within a stones throw.

The terrorists win when you start worrying or changing your behavior.

Our people are fighting the bad guys over there, so we have less to worry about HERE. I know because I was over there for 7 months. I didn't have access to this site when I was there - now I'm back and can go to a 'skins game again and chit-chat about my beloved Redskins.

Basically you are going to die of something, terrorism is low threat. If you want to worry about the odds - you have 50% chance of dying of a heart attack.

Let's talk 'skins, draft, hey, I'll even argue AGAIN about Udeze vs [pick someone].................................................. ....................

HAIL!

P.S. We put a hurt on the bad guys over there, so they don't come back here.......... And our people are still doing that for us now.
