I want Eli Manning on our sideline next year with the clipboard in his hand!

Why:
1.He has the pedigree and the role models to be one of the best.
2.Has shown the physical ability to be an elite QB @ the next level.
3.We can obtain him and keep our #5.
4.I want a top shelp QB, who doesnt talk contract in public and doesnt call it quits when competition arrives.
5. Move for the future.

As everyone knows SD has more needs than they can cover this yr and we have everything they need. Trade: Patrick Ramsey, j.Trotter,R. Gardner (Schotenhemer pick!), and next yrs 2nd rounder if they want it. This is everything Schotty needs for instant results and a pick to build on. We would be in the same position as before assuming Brunell starts but will have a franchise QB in the wing. Then we can still debate about the the #5 overall (which I think we can move down to #10 and get a 2nd rounder and scoop up WILFORK and some other DE)

my first thread take it easy on me! lol

Ramsey is content to learn under Gibbs and Brunell for a year or two then take the reigns (its only his agent thats crying) .. I don't feel the same about Eli Manning.. he went back for his senior year just so he can assure himself of being the top pick.. and w/ his brother starting every single game since coming out after his senior year.. somehow I don't think Eli will wanna sit around on the bench w/ a clipboard. #1 overall picks does not wanna sit.. he wants to play.. especially in this case where he's trying live in his father and brother's big footsteps.. whoever Eli's agent is will probably tell the Skins' not to bother picking him. just my opinion.. could be wrong.. if Eli wants to come here and learn for a while then you gotta really look at that possibility.

Well that is probably not gonna happen. Trotter is gonna be a June 1st cut. Im also not sold on the fact that Ramsey doesn't want to be here. That has been more played out than Outkasts' Hey now crap. Just wait and see. Ramsey will be carrying that clipboard this year. Shoot,,Brunell might even be carrying it.

Relax, this isn't the stillers fan forum. We won't attack you. As for Manning you probably just have a little man crush. Manning would be way to expensive to employ for clipboard duties. As I said in another thread, I don't see Gibbs wanting to give away the securities of 2 proven QB's.

Eli Manning will command a 15-20 mil SB. Not going to happen especially with Patrick Ramsey, who is somewhat proven, already on the roster and playing almost for free. We can't afford Eli.

Mike Vick did and so did Carson Palmer

I think Eli is going to be a stud...I think he may even be better than his brother because he's willing to take a little more in the way of risks...but there is no way we get him without giving up a hell of a lot. Number 5 would have to be there, plus probably Samuels and maybe even more...I think the Skins have a pretty good talent base assembled and are probably 3-4 moves for solid players (DE, DT, maybe H-Back, maybe FS) away from having all of the talent they need to go deep into the playoffs.

Taking Eli would be like getting a super charged car, when we have already picked up a turbo charged one. (Brunnel) We can only use one at a time. And, We don't need a luxury car b/c we have Ramsey.

I think it would be safer and better to stick with Ramsey and Brunell. I don't know why, but I have a funny feeling about E. Manning. I think he will probably fail at the NFL level. He's gathered all this praise just becuse his brother and father were/are great NFL quarterbacks, but ELI is NOT PEYTON or ARCHIE! We can't just assume that he will do great things, now can we? I will admit that he was a good college QB, but I just don't see it in him to become an NFL great.

All good points. I just want to point out that most likely Ramsey wont start so he will hold the clipboard for a year until he can leave in 05. We know Ramsey has a injury that he possibly couldnt come back from, and last of all whats wrong with having a 2005 Bentley in your garage while you drive a 2000 Mercedez 500. (I know. the payments!...lol) And as far as knowing if Manning is gonna be successful in the NFL......I wouldnt bet against it.

Even San Diego has cold feet about taking him. He may end up being the next Peyton, who knows. But it's the same argument of creating a hole, and filling it. Only this time we are talking about Ramsey. A promising QB with a very managable incentive based contract. A guy who has shown outstanding leadership skills and toughness. And I never heard anything come out of his mouth about Brunell. Only his agent's mouth.

San Diego had cold feet about drafting Michael Vick too....They are just a franchise that's scared to commit too much to one player...

I just feel he's hyped up too much that's all...I think Roth looked alot better than him...also if his name wasn't Manning we'd be talking about Roth...Or Rivers....

Exactly. They need to win some games so that they can stop having these anxiety attacks about picking #1 in the draft.

I feel the way about Manning as I feel about Winslow. These two guys have been sleeping, dreaming , and eating this position since they both were watching GI JOE in thier Jammiez! lol. They cant be failures,,,Its in thier blood! I could see someone having these doubts of when these two were in pop warner, junior and high school! But They both have proven them selves at every level leading up till now....Knowing your father revolutionized the sport and knowing you have the potential goes along way in the phyche!

Besides this guy plays catch with Archie and Peyton Manning every year at the family reunion, so he cant be a bust!

Also, SD does not have cold feet on picking Manning because of his potential.....They have a choice to make.

1. Either they draft Manning and throw him back their with no line and no receiver, and hope his genes kick in quick.
2.Or Trade down to someone who can supply them with YOUNG PROVEN TALENT who can also win immediatly.

Thier organization has a hugh descion to make and peoples jobs are on the line. My deal gives them a young Starting QB and a receiver to matchup with the awesome Tomlinson. = instant results.

Not that I would want to give up Ramsey, but if there is no line is SD, Ramsey would not be a good QB for them. Except the fact that he can take a beating. To be successful, Ramsey needs decent protection. He's not a Vick or a McNabb that can run around and make things happen with his feet.

thats why the deal was packaged with samuels and our #5 pick. thats 2 linemen right there.

i wish i was working "alomost for free" like patrick ramsey...

i think ramsey is the real deal. i would only take manning if he fell to #5 and even then i would MUCH rather trade to a team that wants him.

i think if manning fell to 5 i might take him and trade ramsey to the steelers or the bills (at 11 or 13, i think?). that would be like trading ramsey for manning and a defensive tackle.

Gibbs won the superbowl 3 times with average QB's. That tells you that you dont need a Manning type QB calling the shots. Ramsey will be your Manning type QB in a year or two. I have a good feeling about Ramsey. I just hope he's not traded on Draft Day to make us wrong.

very good point. i actually have a good feeling about gibran hamdan, i think after a season in europe, he might be good. he is big and tall like rypien.

manning will still be playing 10 years after Gibbs has retired as our head coach. I dont know about you, but when Gibbs leaves, i dont want to be stuck with an "average" QB. Teams with so called no-name QB's like Jake Delhome are sometimes in the playoffs and have spots of brilliance, but teams with franchise QBs like Manning or Favre are ALWAYS in the play-offs. Drafting Manning makes sense for our long term future.

And, as i've said before, if we dont draft Manning, we are going to have to deal with him EVERY YEAR for the next 10+ years if the Giants get him. Even if we dont need him right now, this year, we will need a QB like him within the next couple years. And I am all for doing anything we can to screw the Giants over so they dont get him.

we'll have to wait and see what the colts are capable of next year after giving peyton a gazillion dollars and losing guys like Marcus Washginton to other teams around the league.

There are few qb's in the league that have the potential to control the game like Peyton Manning has done, and Ramsey is not one of them.....

peyton is beyond potential, he has proven he can control a game in the nfl. few have proven it like him, but many have potential.

so does the fact that the skins-raiders deal was only a rumor, in of itself, make the rumor about the skins-chargers deal rumors, as well?
