View Full Version : Second Annual hR Tailgate Party

Spence
04-16-2004, 10:13 AM
The hR Admins are pleased to announce a date for the Second Annual hailRedskins.com tailgate party. The tailgate party will be held in the parking lots of FedEx Field on September 12, 2004. This is the first game of the season and we chose it because of the likelihood of excellent weather, as well as the fact that a daytime game would be more convenient for our out-of-town visitors than a nighttime game. No date is perfect, but September 12 has the most positives and fewest negatives of any date.

It won't be easy to get tickets for this game, but it will be possible. Truth be told, getting tickets to any game this year will involve some work, but we're sure we can make this happen. The energy level outside and inside the stadium on September 12 should be absolutely electric.

Future details on the exact physical location of the party, as well as ticket acquisition arrangements, will be published on this board as they become available. Rest assured that your Admins are making this party a top priority and every effort will be made to ensure that everyone who wants to attend may attend.

We look forward to seeing many of you there. Some of you who missed it last year have promised to make it this time. You will be held to that promise. [Yeah, I'm lookin' at you, Jeff, Kevin, and Dave.] Hail2Skins assures me that we now possess the technology to send a virus to anyone who promises to show up but does not. And I'm not talking about a computer virus either. We've got two buckets of ebola over here and we'll use it if we have to.

Hail to the Redskins and hailRedskins.com!

PS. Lets remember to bring our wallets inside the gate, as you will NOT be allowed to re-enter the stadium (cough cough PSF)

Okay, if I do this (and I really, really want to) I need some advice. I'll have to fly in Sat. afternoon/evening, and find a hotel near the stadium.

1. Can anyone recommend a decent, but not outrageously expensive, hotel?

2. What's the best way to get to the stadium -- taxi, bus, hitchhike? Does anyone know if any hotels will shuttle you to the game?

3. Which airport would it be best to fly in to (that is, which one is nearest the stadium)?

4. I'm hoping to not have to rent a car -- again, anyone have any shuttle knowledge from airport to hotel?

Thanks, dudes and dudettes!

As LuvSkins said...this is really an event you will remember for a long time.

To those currently on the fence about participating; I can assure you that you won't find a more dedicated and fanatical group of fans to tailgate with than the folks at hailRedskins.Com. Everyone at the tailgate feels welcome, whether you have been a regular at hr.com for along time or if you have just visited the site for a week or so. We come from all walks of life to gather on Redskin soil to socialize and support the greatest franchise in sports history.

So, if you are even remotely interested, I suggest making the trek to Fed Ex for the first regular season game of Gibb's comeback.

The stage can't be set up any better than it is...

Cheers to Week One!

NO. NO. NO!!!!!!!!!!

This is absolutly the worst game to have the HR Tailgate at.

First of all, it is the first game of the season.

Second, it will be near impossable for anyone who is not a season ticket holder to get tickets.

First, I tailgate with the same crew of people. Being the first game of the season, it is like a family reunion. We talk during the off season, but we only see each other only during our tailgates.

I can't miss that first tailgate of the year.

Second, my friends that I use to get tickets from before I got my own season tickets, told me that his parents (who hasen't been to a game since Gibbs left), said that they would not miss Gibbs first game back for a million dollars. He also told me that everyone in the family wants to go too, but they don't have enough tickets.

All my friends are beating down my door for that first game. They all want to be at Gibbs first game. They all are now bidding on it, and the price goes up everyday. It is crazy.

Sadly, since it is the first game of the year, I will not be able to attend the HR tailgate this year.

Okay folks,

Just as last year, I will probably be doing the most to organize this. A few things that I would like to point out:

As Spence mentioned, getting tickets will be tough throughout the year, not just for the home opener. I will do my very best to try to line up tickets for members that need them as I did last year, but there are no guarantees. I know that those that attended last year enjoyed being able to sit with other members of hR, but you may have to secure your own tix this year, to which you would be spread out throughout the stadium. That shouldn't stop you from enjoying the actual tailgate itself. Members like Spence, RedskinsDave, Patrick and Skinsfan44 are season ticket holders, so they wouldn't be sitting together either way, just to use an example.

If we cannot secure tickets, then what we will do is leave that up for you the member to do yourself, and just charge a fee per person to enjoy the unlimited food and drink that will be there. We are also thinking of other things to make it more memorable, which we will announce in the future if we deem them as reasonable to add to the event.

Stay tuned, there will be more info to come.

I went through the same thing at the opening of Fed Ex.
I didn't have tix and was looking to scalp. The nosebleeds were astronomical. We wandered over to the ticket office and they had gameday club seats available at the same price.Clubs aren't included for it to be considered a sellout,at least that's my understanding. It might be worth a check.Bring plenty of $$ in case.

74Verona, those who know me here will tell you I am a bit of a Ticket Snob. If it isn't 100 section, I'd rather watch the game at home. However, after sitting in the 400's last year with everyone else I can tell you a couple of things:

1. There is not really a bad seat in the house as far as seeing the action (and yes there is a nice Jumbotron)

2. Beer man makes it to the 400's....pretty frequently. (Though I carried my buzz into the stadium with me)

I don't mind the hard work because I know that the folks that I took care of last year were very appreciative.

I didn't go and I'm still appreciative. You guys put in so much effort. Even if you can't find them, I'm gonna try and be there as my first Redskins game has been 23 years in coming and that's way too long.

Man, those tickets AGG listed are out of my league. They might not be if I land a good summer job, but that's up in the air, plus they could be sold out once I have decent cash. I wonder if eBay will be able to work the wonders for me that it did last year with my parking ticket.....

I for one was very appreciative of Kenny's hard work with everything. The seats were good last year and the company was great !!!!

Forget E-bay, the tickets there are already selling in the hundreds of $.

On the site that I listed, they had seats that only cost $99.00. Other sites wanted $20-$30 more for comparable sections. (I used to be in purchasing, so I like to compare prices before I settle on anything.)

Kenny...you are the MAN! Let me know if you need help with anything, OK?

Whoa...wait I dog gone minute here....I just checked back on that ASC ticket site. Yesterday they had all their 400 seats at $99.00 (I know because I bought 5 in the end zone) now the lowest is selling for $125.00.
I wonder what happened?

Sorry guys, I see now what Joe was talking about

i just got 2 400 level tickets from them for $99 each! thank you so much for posting that link! $200 is not too bad... now what is the tailgate party all about? do you guys get started early or what!? man, i am so flipping excited now!

That's my plan as well.

I've offered 2 of my 5 tickets to other members here at hR, because they're coming from out of state and I wanted them to be able to make their plane reservations knowing they'd definitely have seats, but I think that we’d all prefer to sit together if possible.
Lord knows we could sell these tickets on E-bay if we had to.

You were able to get $99.00 tickets?
'Cause I just looked, and I didn't see the $99 ones anymore....http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smilies/expressive/boggled.gif

maybe they went up b/c i bought 2 more? i wouldn't be surprised if ticket agencies sell tickets on a tiered basis... i am so happy to be in the building for gibbs' first game back!!!

I've only been a member for two days, but I have heard a few people (including one of my Funky4 buddies) mention the "HR Tailgate Party." Is this an actual event? Am I invited? I'd love to meet and hang out with some of you guys. Let me know, if anyone has info.

Moped Riders Association...?

Blimey - it's hell on hair-dryers...

Anyway, am on the verge of booking my flights, etc. Looks like there'll be a one-man cockney invasion on the 9th - Anyone recommend any bars to watch the NFL Kick Off game...?

Oh yes, and are there any skanky hotels in central DC that I need to avoid like the plague...?

There is a "sticky" post at the top of this page that will give you more information.

Last year was our first year, and the tailgate was at least 20+ strong. We tailgated near the marching band, since Kenny and Mike (both Hr.com admins) are in the band/funky 4. They even had a good portion of the band serenade us with "Hail To the Redskins" out in the parking lot.

Check out the original thread for more details. I know we are planning on having it for the home opener vs. the Bucs.

It truly is a blast and we would love to have you join us. (With the costume, of course!)

Starting last year it's an anual even for all the members and Mark's car keys. The admins will probably be organizing it but if you own a hotel talk to me. :wacky:

We usually secure a spot in a GREEN lot in the C area. We (members of the band) have tailgated there for years now. Unless something changes, that is where it will be this year also.

Check out the Days Inn Capital Beltway. Not fancy, but close. You can walk to the stadium from there if you want to. I did it last year for the Thursday night opener. It is just south of the stadium on Central Ave.
