If we pick KWII in this weekends draft, will he ask for #81 as part of his contract negotiations?

He (and the Postons) may be arrogant enough to ask for it.

Just forum fodder.

I don't think his dad would let him ask for it. KWI was a class guy, he knows the unwritten rules of the NFL.

I hope they don't go that route......I wuld be so upset. I also hope they don't ask Monk to wear that Number...I would be truely upset...Not a good move.. :rpunch:

Well, let's look at this logically. If we didn't let Danny Wuerffel wear #7, why would we let K2 wear 81???????? Seriously........

Anyhoo....

His dad wore #80 is sunny SD, but we all know LC isn't giving that number up, so:

80: no
81: no
82: Was Chamberlain. Kozlowski has no claim to it yet.
83: Russell. Will be lucky to make this team.
84: Jacobs. Wore 86 last year, not married to 84 yet.
85: McCants. That's his number.
86: Rasby. He's the reason Jacobs is wearing 84. No go.
87: Gardner. Unless he's traded, it's his.
88: Royal. If we draft K2, Royal is probably a camp cut. Too many TEs on the roster.
89: Cloman. Won't make the team, WR too deep.

That's it. It will be 88 or 89.

Ur forgetting Coles is one of our key franchise players and he wears #80. Anyway, I'd like to see him in 82 or 83.

i like 88. write it in the contract, but spell it out like eighty-eight so the postons wont be able to read it.

That just cracked me up, good one. I think 88 is the way to go, the very idea that someone else would wear 81 is impossible for me to conceive, even when I see 81's on other teams Art Monk is the first thought in my head. I'm sure I'm not the only one who took 81 as his number during their football days.

remember the NERVE of Shane Matthews ASKING Sonny Jurgenson if he could wear his #9 in his first year?? Sonny actually said yes although everyone knew he didn't want him to.. and finally everyone else around Matthews told him it just wasn't a good idea so he went w/ #6. And Danny Wuerfull wanted Joey T's #7! Just shows the nerve of today's athletes and Spurrier's cockiness w/ his former players to come in and wear whatever # they wanted. AND remember the FO got blasted for giving out Bobby Mitchell's #49 to some scrub that year as well and made B. Mitchell leave on such bad feelings. Hopefully they all learned their lessons.

Thrash still needs a # also. Remember that this year WR can wear #'s 12-19.

Just one question out of topic.

At what time does the draft OFFICIALY starts... no pre-show. Thanks.

LifetimeRedskin

The draft officially starts at 12:00 noon, that is when the Chargers go on the clock for 15 minutes. They will probably make that pick at the end of the clock after hearing a hundred million trade offers....so no selections will probably be made until, say, 12:15.

If the FO makes the mistake of picking Winslow, they should be responsible for his first action as the jerk that he is and let him have 81.

Thrash still needs a # also. Remember that this year WR can wear #'s 12-19.

The way I see it, Thrash has 2 sentimental numbers in mind. The #80 he wore in Philly, which is obviously out of the question in DC, and 87, which he wore here in his first stint. Think the team will unload Gardner to make 87 available for Thrash again?

i don't think teams dump players just so another guy can take his #. i'm sure u were kidding tho. somehow i like the idea of Thrash wearing #17.. he's not gonna be no more than our 3rd or 4th receiver and Kickoff Return man.. and w/ most of the #s in the 80s are gone that might be his only choice (until C. Russell and S. Cloman gets cut)

Yeah, I was kidding. It was another attempt of humor, along the lines of others suggesting that Portis or Taylor will get 26 after Ohalete is cut in camp.

As far as Thrash being # 3 or 4, I think he would be a good #2 opposite of Coles, which is the main reason I think Gardner will be moved.

RedskinsVision

acquiring Thrash is the main reason Gardner's name is out as trade bait.. if a trade happens i'm confident Thrash can get it done.. but he tires during the end of games cuz he's also the kickoff return guy.. so maybe we'll lighten his load a bit so he can give optimal performance.. if we keep Gardner which i hope we do then i think Thrash will be a great weapon as a 3rd or 4th WR.
