Personally I think Sellers will fit the bill as our H-back. He was pretty good is last time here and I read he looked good in mini-camp. He's big, has good hands and to be 260 some pounds he can really move. He can really wear defenses down with his size. Maybe we don' t need to draft Winslow if Sellers is going to step up for us. Let me know how yall feel. :dalassuk:

I hate to be a wet blanket on the Mike Sellers lovefest, but the guy hasn't stepped into a real live NFL game since 2001, and for his entire NFL career, he has 25 catches for 274.

i think who we're going to draft tomorrow will determine how the coaching staff feels about Sellers.. if they draft Winslow then obviously they don't think he could get it done.. if we draft Taylor then that means they have confidence in him. i like Sellers.. he had only 25 catches in his 4 years in the NFL but w/ 6TDs.. and i heard he was a stud in the CFL.. we'll see soon!

The Redskins surely aren't making their draft plans around a current CFL player who may or may not make the roster. Who they pick with the FIFTH pick, will neither be a vote of confidence for or against Sellers; it is an indication that they think the guy they are drafting can be a cornerstone for the franchise for the next decade. The last team that made the mistake of drafting around a decent player was the Detroit Pistons, who thought they had a decent small forward in Tayshaun Prince, and subsequently drafted a Euro-stiff over Carmelo Anthony.

i definitely don't think Sellers can fill this role all by himself all year long. Sellers doesn't have stats but whenever he played for us i thought he was more than servicable.. he's also good on ST. his FB/HB position (b4 Winslow came into picture) don't necesitate good stats.. they just need to be good blockers who occasionally catches the ball. if we draft Winslow that would be awesome.. but if we don't.. w/ all our other TEs and Gibbs way of using them all is good enough.. remember the most catches a TE/HB ever caught under Gibbs was Didier's 41.

I agree. I have never understood why we were even contemplating Winslow as an H back when H back in Gibbs first tenure were blockers first. We going to give a $15million dollar bonus to a blocker? We would be better served as using Robert Royal as our receiving TE and using the money on defense.

That was the most with the Skins, true. But when he had a stud receiving TE, in San Diego as an OC, 89 was the number. Didier may have only caught 30-40 a season, but Monk caught 80+, and I don't know that D-Mac can be that productive, so I think it's a little bit different than in Gibbs previous stint...A lot of players came and went during Gibbs tenure, but he always had his security blanket in Art Monk.

i just have faith in Gibbs cuz he always gets the max out of any players he puts out on the field.. he can adjust to any type of game style that he sees fit. if we stick w/ our offense the way it is then i can see each TE (Rasby, Koz, Sellers, Royal) getting 10-20 balls totalling about 50-60 catches. McCants is no Monk as of now.. but we have Coles who's more than capable of getting 90+ rec. and Gardner could easily get 70+.. so if DMac, Thrash and Jacobs could catch somewhere between 50-70 rec. which is definitely possible.. then we're set.. but still.. it would be much more formidable w/ Winslow.

I agree with you - I have confidence in Gibbs, either way. I'd like to see them grab KWII, but you have to be happy that the Skins will get 1) probably the highest rated TE to ever be in the draft, 2) one of the highest 2-3 rated Safeties to ever be in the draft, or 3) a bunch of picks/players to move down.

i'd definitely be happy w/ the first 2 options.. but the trade down scenario is very risky.. theres 8-9 true blue chip prospects and basically all experts especially espn have said after #15 its all a toss up.. this year's draft is not that deep.. obviously there will be future studs in the later rounds but we need this high pick cuz this team is trying to win now. maybe next year and definitely in the years to come we'll take more chances w/ lower selections but not this year i don't think. we're not gonna be drafting this high again anytime soon and no rookie DL is gonna have the impact that Winslow and Taylor is gonna have this year.

I think the downfield blocking installed by our new coaching staff will make a huge difference. I see Sellers being a big part of that KII or not. Almost a running tackle. Even if a little small. If we keep Gardner? and with D-Mc and our other TE's we should open some big holes.

Go Bugel!!! Downfield blocking!! Smashmouth Ball!!

i think mike sellers will do great because that hback position seems perfect for him. he can be a huge lead blocker.

Sellers is a good ball player as long as he keeps his off field problems in check.

This is why I do not want to trade down

Sellars will be a better blocker than anyone we could draft. Since we will probably be a run dominated team, I think he will be very good. If we want to pass we have one of the best recieving corps in the league.

I don't think Sellers is the answer and H-back is still a need.

I believe the Redskins will trade into the 3rd round and they will take Chris Cooley.
