I think they will probably draft a RB in a later round.

Can still get a good one to. Plus with two picks in next years low talent draft, they could make a move to get one of the top prospects......I still like that they didn't get a Rb.

i love it

Tubbs will be better than Wilfork. He's a horse.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:05 PM
Nice pick by the Seahawks. Tubbs should help them. Even the Skins were able to run on Seattle last year.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:07 PM
If the Bengals have any doubts about Rudi Johnson they can go for Stephen Jackson here. I don't think they do it, though. If I was picking for Cincy I'd go get Will Poole or Ahmed Carroll. They need help in the secondary pretty desperately.

BigCountry
04-24-2004, 03:07 PM
I said this before and I'm saying it again, if Randy Starks falls to the 2nd round, the Redskins will be making some phone calls.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:08 PM
Randy Starks would be decent value here, too. I'm biased, but I really like Starks.

badpigs442

Chris Gamble is the best remaining Cb. I spect him.

BigCountry
04-24-2004, 03:10 PM
I think this is a lock for Gamble.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:10 PM
Gamble would be a solid pick. I'm wondering why he's dropped so far, though. He'd been considered a top 20 pick earlier.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:10 PM
I think this is a lock for Gamble.

Means they made a great trade with Denver.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:12 PM
Bengals need to start Palmer. They are paying him to play. He's had a year to learn. Their is no reason this kid should sit a whole nother year.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:13 PM
In retrospect, Marvin Lewis should have gone with his first instinct and drafted Terrance Newman.

badpigs442

I said this before and I'm saying it again, if Randy Starks falls to the 2nd round, the Redskins will be making some phone calls.

We don't need a DT, we need a DE.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:15 PM
We don't need a DT, we need a DE.Oh, we need a DT. We also need a DE. Actually, we probably need two of each. The smart pick would be the better value in the second round and Starks would be the better value pick

Dre-The-Great
04-24-2004, 03:17 PM
Yes Randy Starks would be nice

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:17 PM

Odom and Babin could possibly be around in round 2.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 03:17 PM
What do we have to trade? No one is going to give us a second rounder for Gardner.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:18 PM
Is this Canidate all over again?

ShaggySkins
04-24-2004, 03:18 PM
Thats a great deal for the Rams to get Jackson this far down in the first round

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:18 PM
What do we have to trade? No one is going to give us a second rounder for Gardner.
I think we would have to throw in a 3rd rounder from next year

ShaggySkins
04-24-2004, 03:19 PM
Stephen Jackson is A LOT more accomplished then Canidate was.

LadyNRedskinsfan
04-24-2004, 03:19 PM
jackson to the rams? never saw that coming.........im just SOOOO happy that the girls or gals didnt get him......

BigCountry
04-24-2004, 03:19 PM
A team with 2nd rounders (49ers) might take him, and a high pick next year.

ShaggySkins
04-24-2004, 03:19 PM
Are we able to trade the rights to Iffy since he is a RFA???

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:19 PM
I would have thought they would have taken Jones becuase he is fast.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:20 PM
All right! I got one. No way Jackson would get past the Rams. I was sure of that and the Rams made a very good move. I don't care what they gave up to the Bengals, that was a great trade by the Rams. Probably a very nice trade for the Bengals, too.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:25 PM
I am surprised, Dallas would let Jackson go but they got a good deal so I guess they will be happy with Jones

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:30 PM
Okay, so maybe I'm not so dumb after all. Ahmad Carroll goes before Gamble.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:31 PM
Ahmad Carroll seems like a reach. at 25 what do you think?

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:32 PM
Ahmad Carroll seems like a reach. at 25 what do you think?

Yea.

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:35 PM
It's all about his quickness. Speed kills.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:35 PM
Does Cincy get a CB here also? Gamble or Poole? I can see Gamble.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 03:37 PM
I wouldn't be suprised to see Starks go here

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:38 PM
Bengals will definitely go defense. Poole, Gamble or Starks. I think the Bengals badly need a good cornerback, but Starks would be a good value pick.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:39 PM
Perry wow I thought maybe Jones. Good one less RB for Dallas

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 03:39 PM
Perry is a reach here... He is to slow

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:40 PM
I guess they figured they were okay once they got CB Deltha O'Neal. I'm not so sure about that, though. The Broncos traded for Bailey because O'Neal had been a stiff in Denver. I think I would have gone cornerback again or I would have gone for Starks. I suppose this is insurance in case Rudi Johnson is a one-year wonder.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 03:40 PM
I wonder when Greg Jones is going to go.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:40 PM
Perry was a better pick for Cinci because of their division. They play some smash mouth teams, Raven, Pittsburgh. Thats more like where Perry played in the Big 10.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 03:41 PM
I think that Greg Jones will last until the 3rd

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:42 PM
Does Tenn go after Jake Grove here next? or does Starks get drafted

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:42 PM
Titans could DEFINITELY use Randy Starks here, but going running back wouldn't be a bad idea either. Eddie George is just about done and the team is relying too much on Steve McNair to win games.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:43 PM
Titans are almost a lock for D-line.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 03:44 PM
This will be Starks. You heard it here.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 03:45 PM
Kevin Jones !

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:45 PM
Titans could DEFINITELY use Randy Starks here, but going running back wouldn't be a bad idea either. Eddie George is just about done and the team is relying too much on Steve McNair to win games.

RB never crossed my mind so which Jones would be best. Kevin or Greg

Skinzaholic
04-24-2004, 03:46 PM
I think Starks will go... but leaving Dallas without a RB sure sounds good!

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:48 PM
I'd go Kevin Jones, but the Titans might consider Greg Jones the best replacement for George since he runs more like George. I think Kevin Jones is much more likely to be a star, though.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 03:52 PM
Jason Babin? Who is this guy?

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:52 PM
Jason Babin to Houston. What did Houston give up to get the pick?

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 03:52 PM
Charlie does it again

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 03:54 PM
Selecting a DE from picks 20-32 is a complete reach. They never pan out.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 03:55 PM
So who do you think has had the "steal of the first round" thus far?

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:56 PM
Wilfork

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 03:57 PM
Wilfork
Really? I thought Wilfork went where he should have went.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:57 PM
Houston gives a 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th rounders to get Tenn pick also get a 5th back

Skins57
04-24-2004, 03:57 PM
Really? I thought Wilfork went where he sould have went.

I have seen him as high as 9th and I thought he would be right around there

Spence
04-24-2004, 03:58 PM
Stephen Jackson is the steal of the draft so far. Tommie Harris and Udeze get honorable mention.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 03:59 PM
I would have to agree that Jackson has been "the steal" so far.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 04:03 PM
Jackson.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 04:06 PM
To bad they didn't have him for the Super Bowl.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 04:07 PM
Gamble that is.

Spence
04-24-2004, 04:08 PM
I think Gamble deserved to fall that far. I'm no higher on him than Kiper is. I think Will Poole might be a good pick for the Colts here. They need secondary help. They lost both their starting cornerbacks. We've got one of 'em here in D.C.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 04:17 PM
would have thought Woods would have been higher than jenkins.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 04:17 PM
Jenkins is a reach here

Spence
04-24-2004, 04:17 PM
I would have taken Rashaun Woods over Michael Jenkins. Falcons definitely trying to get some players for Vick. They don't want to learn the hard way, as Philly has done.

BigCountry
04-24-2004, 04:20 PM
The 49ers are having a very good draft, especially if they select Rashaun Woods.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 04:22 PM
Det does trade up, I bet they go Kevin Jones

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 04:23 PM
Here comes Kevin Jones? Or is it actually ben Troupe. I say Troupe.

Spence
04-24-2004, 04:23 PM
Lions trade up into KC's spot. Hopefully, the Lions will take a TB, reducing further the options the Cowboys have.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 04:23 PM
Kevin Jones and Roy Williams would be a nice day for Joey Harrington

Spence
04-24-2004, 04:27 PM
Kevin Jones for Detroit. Excellent. Detroit's offense, with Roy Williams, Charles Rogers, and Kevin Jones, ought to make a big improvement this year.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 04:28 PM
Matt Millen trying to save his job and doing it well

Spence
04-24-2004, 04:28 PM
Still some good TB options for the Cowboys, but not as good as they used to be. I'd like to see a mini-run on running backs before Dallas chooses again.

ArRiNgToN_56
04-24-2004, 04:30 PM
Wow detroit appears to be on its way to the reincarnation of the St. Louis Rams of 99' 3 good wideouts a good RB and a good QB and an ok D.

Spence
04-24-2004, 04:33 PM
Rashaun Woods is a nice pick by the Niners. I still think they'll struggle on offense this year, though.

Is it just me or has there been more trades in the first round than normal this year? I'm exhausted from just trying to keep up on the master board on the first page of this thread.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 04:36 PM

GolfFreak
04-24-2004, 05:05 PM
Just got back from playing golf - surprised to see Stark is still on the board. And Udeze really fell far!!! I wonder if we are done for the day - maybe we can trade into the 2nd round for some D-Line help.

BTW - nervous already for next year when Dallass has two #1 picks!

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:06 PM
Daryl Smith Georgia

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:07 PM
would we be smart to trade Rod and a 3rd round next year to move and get Starks, or Dockett?

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:08 PM
I bet Tenn goes Stark next

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:14 PM
Dallas didn't get
Jackson
Jones
Perry

That's great!

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:14 PM
I can't believe Dockett and Starks are still on the board.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:16 PM
Ben troupe is gone

This is our second round coming up Denver has. We could have a shot at Starks, Dockett or Washington at DT. Grove is still there

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:17 PM
Denver might go RB and Tenn has that possiblity also so Dallas might get nothing at RB

Denver got Tatum Bell

Farbod
04-24-2004, 05:19 PM
Tatum Bell Gone!!!! Woohooo!!! Eat it Cowgirls!!!

:Pickle:

Spence
04-24-2004, 05:20 PM
Denver got TB Tatum Bell. I guess Dallas can still go tailback, though it might not be the most productive pick. They have a need, though. They don't want to go back with Carter still at quarterback and Hambrick still at tailback.

Spence
04-24-2004, 05:20 PM
I can't believe Dockett and Starks are still on the board.Starks should be gone by now. Dockett is still there because he's a thug just waiting to be arrested again.

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:25 PM
Tenn will probably go DT right now.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:26 PM
Does Dallas get Greg Jones now?

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:27 PM

Dockett and Starks still there.
Gotta be some kind of trade we could do.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:29 PM
I would even be happy to trade a 2 and 3 next year to move in hte second round right now

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:29 PM
Starks and Dockett still there....

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:30 PM
Oakland and Sf could use Gardner and they have picks after DAllas

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:31 PM
I just hope Dallas doesn't get Starks or Darnell. I don't know where they'll be going.

Spence
04-24-2004, 05:31 PM
Julius Jones is the new Dallas tailback. Interesting. Good college player, but not the absolute elite.

Robert Sanders to Indy. Will play along Doss. I insist... Dockett and Starks already there.... let's make a trade!

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 05:40 PM
Starks is looking real stupid for leaving school early now

JoeJacksonTaylor28

San Francisco's turn... If we're trading Gardner, here is it.

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:50 PM
I want a DT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

04-24-2004, 05:50 PM
Why do you guys think anyone wants Gardner when we don't even want him?

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 05:51 PM
They have Woods now.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:51 PM
Why do you guys think anyone wants Gardner when we don't even want him?

I want to keep him but he is the only choice we have to trade that might get us into the 2nd along with a 2005 pick and a DT is much more a need than WR

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 05:51 PM
Why do you guys think anyone wants Gardner when we don't even want him?
Because SF is starved for WRs.

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:52 PM
Why do you guys think anyone wants Gardner when we don't even want him?
We don't want him (some of us, not everybody) because we have Coles, Trash, Darnerien, Jacobs, Russell, etc...

They have Woods now.
That's a good point.

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 05:55 PM

04-24-2004, 05:56 PM
You could sense that Gibbs was ticked and doing his best to remain calm when asked about KWII. I supported KWII (the guy has crazy talent), but seeing him now, starting a war of words with a Hall Of Fame coach, and talking about how the Skins would be headed for payback -- working Butch Davis into a corner before he's even been a Brown for a full day -- certainly makes me think that the Redskins went in a better direction...I'm still stuck on the fact that Wilfolk went at 21 and Watson at 32, but maybe NE never made an offer for 5....Anyhow, hail to the defense....it certainly is looking very solid with the additions of Barrow and Taylor -- and would be scary with another D Lineman or two -- Not to say the offense is looking too shabby.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 05:58 PM
I just wish we could find a way to get Starks or Dockett. But I doubt we do anything

BigCountry
04-24-2004, 05:59 PM
The defense is a year away at least. Barrow is old and our defensive line still has no pass rush.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 06:00 PM
What good does another DT do? We have two blue collar players who arn't rookies right now.

RichardBradley
04-24-2004, 06:00 PM
Another DT but not one of those two

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 06:01 PM
I just wish we could find a way to get Starks or Dockett. But I doubt we do anything
I'm feelin ya'.....

I doubt it also. They must be partying with Taylor to realize that there are 2 big DT still.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 06:01 PM
I'm starting to doubt that we will make a move...

Chicago took a DT. Tank Johnson from Washington a supposed 4-5 rounder.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 06:01 PM
DE is a bigger need, but we can't afford to lose the Experience of Rod. Our offense would lose much more than the D would gain. I see teams DT Coles badly with no Rod.

JoeJacksonTaylor28
04-24-2004, 06:02 PM
Yep, the bears got a DT again! Terry Johnson.

Why Dockett and Starks have fallen so far?

badpigs442

Ravens are on the clock, another team that could get Gardner, but it's very unlikely and wouldn't be a good move on our part. The F.O AND GIBBS really messed up when they gave away all our picks cause this is a very deep draft.

Dockett- becuase other DT's stock has been vastly improving
Odom- DE's taken high becuase of potential are often busts
Starks- Was said to be falling fast becuase of questionable ability.

Grade: 78
Comments: Cooley is a good athlete who can adjust to the ball in the air. Rarely drops a pass, catches balls away from his frame and has the hands to make tough catches in traffic. Is a mismatch problem because of size and skills and has the potential to develop into a productive red-zone target. Shows good awareness and finds soft spots in zone coverage. Gets upfield quickly after the catch and is a powerful runner in the open field. Is a versatile player who can contribute in many different roles. Has experience lining up in the backfield, does a nice job of blocking in space, and really works to sustain his blocks. Plays with good intensity and takes adequate angles to his blocks. But Cooley isn't a dominant inline blocker and is more of an H-Back prospect. Doesn't play with a great base, doesn't get much pop at the point of attack and lacks the lower-body strength to push the pile in the running game. Lacks ideal speed and won't stretch opposing defenses at the next level. Isn't explosive coming out of his cuts and is more effective working against zone coverage than man coverage. Doesn't show much elusiveness or a second-gear after the catch. Cooley started his college career at defensive end and moved to tight end midway through his freshman season. He played as a ?move? tight end at Utah State, basically a hybrid tight end/fullback/H-back. Cooley has been one of the most prolific tight ends in Division I-A the last two seasons. He finished his senior season with a team-high 62 receptions for 732 yards and six touchdowns. Cooley projects as an H-back in the NFL. He lacks explosive speed and has limited upside after the catch. He also is undersized when compared to traditional tight ends and must be protected as a blocker. But Cooley is an intriguing early Day 2 prospect because of his versatility, hands and athleticism. He knows how to separate and get open as a receiver, he catches the ball extremely well on the run, and he is an efficient blocker in space. Cooley will never be a starter, but he has the potential to contribute at fullback, H-back and on special teams, and he certainly has the potential to develop into an excellent short-yardage/goal-line weapon.

I think most people had Oakland going Fitz, but I can't quibble with taking Gallery. Despite what the Sean Taylor cult thinks, Gallery is the best college player in this draft.

Offensive Lineman are the easiest projection to the pro level. Gallery was the safe pick here.

The Jake Grove pick in the second was interesting. Norv must be trying to prolong Gannon's career by making sure he never gets hit.

IowaSkinsFan
04-25-2004, 04:43 AM
Rivers wasnt worth that high.

Get a load of this. Randy Mueller, the former GM of the Saints, says it will be Rivers and not Manning, who gets to negotiate as the top pick of the draft, or at least, that should be his position anyway. It will be interesting to see how all of this pans out as it could have a significant impact on the Taylor contract talks. Taylor will want to be paid right behind either Rivers or Manning as one of them have to be viewed as the 4th pick. We could be in for a TC holdout.
