Manning goes first..intresting!

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:35 PM
Reminds me of what those dumbass ignorant Philly fans did to Donovan McNabb when he was drafted.

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:37 PM
Interesting pick by the Raiders. Safe pick. Gallery is as close to a sure thing as there is. Almost any other player could be a bust, but Gallery is almost sure to be an All Pro. Maybe not their top need, but hard to argue with such a pick. They got superstar.

PennSkinsFan
04-24-2004, 12:38 PM
I would have gone with fitzgerald if i was Oakland. They need to replace Rice and Brown

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:39 PM
I think most people had Oakland going Fitz, but I can't quibble with taking Gallery. Despite what the Sean Taylor cult thinks, Gallery is the best college player in this draft.

Skinzaholic
04-24-2004, 12:42 PM
I agree... Gallery was the closest thing.

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:47 PM
Big, athletic receiver for the Cardinals. Hard to argue with that pick either. For those who knock his speed, I'd point out that Fitzgerald is faster than Jerry Rice ever was.

With Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin on the field at the same time, opposing defenses are going to be in trouble.

PennSkinsFan
04-24-2004, 12:48 PM
Fitzgerlad was pretty much a gaurantee for Green. Good Wrs in ARI! Now they need defense.

Skinzaholic
04-24-2004, 12:48 PM
Dennis Green had the last say on that one.

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:55 PM
Yeah, Denny is an offensive coach. Winning 38-30 works just fine for him. Best value pick for him, though.

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:57 PM
The two players the Giants wanted were Manning or Gallery. Both are gone. If the Giants take Rivers I have to think they're doing it to make a deal with the Chargers.

Spence
04-24-2004, 12:59 PM
Let the dealmaking begin.

Rivers wasnt worth that high.

Nope, but they think that they can get Eli by picking him....God I hope not.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:05 PM
I'm not sure what to make of all this Winslow talk. All the talk points to Winslow right now, but I wouldn't put it past Gibbs to be lying about all that. People who can't see behind his "aww, gee shucks" act often miss how clever and ruthless Gibbs can be.

I think the lure of Winslow must be incredible, though.

jporterweb
04-24-2004, 01:07 PM
I don't get the lure of Winslow. Gibbs has never really utilized the pass catching ability of them before, so why change the system now. I just hope we don't get Winslow when this comes back,.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:08 PM
Jporter, Gibbs made great use of Winslow as offensive coordinator of the Chargers. Gibbs knows exactly how to use a player like Winslow. He just didn't do it at Washington. Part of the reason for that must have been that he never got to draft this high, really. Just once.

redskinmwt
04-24-2004, 01:10 PM
wow, did you see what the chargers got for manning?

redskinmwt
04-24-2004, 01:11 PM

swapped rivers and manning and chargers get...

a third rounder this year and a first and fifth rounder next year

jporterweb
04-24-2004, 01:12 PM
Great Pick....and as for the chargers/giants.....HOLY S**T! I'm waiting to hear about the stupidity of trading away there draft this and next year for one player.

flave1969
04-24-2004, 01:12 PM
We Take Taylor.

Rivers and Manning swap. Giants give up third this year. First and third next year.

Skinzaholic
04-24-2004, 01:12 PM
Im glad we took Taylor.

flave1969
04-24-2004, 01:14 PM
Sorry First and fifth next year

frankez99
04-24-2004, 01:14 PM
I'm satisfied w/ Taylor...I guess....maybe we can find a DE/DL diamond in the rough in the later rounds...and through free agency. If not I see a lot of teams running all over us...again...like last season..and the season before...and before...and before...

But better Taylor than Winslow!

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:15 PM
Giants roll the dice, Redskins play it safe. Look, if Eli turns out to be another Peyton Manning then this trade will still look very good for the Giants.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:16 PM
All picks and trade details may be found on my master list on the first page of this thread.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:17 PM
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions go for Winslow. He'd really help Harrington. If not, they'll trade down and try to take the top running back later in the first round. At least, that's what I'd do. They need more help for Harrington. Badly.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:19 PM
I think Kiper is correct: Sean Taylor was taken so the Redskins won't be killed by Jeremy Shockey anymore. I think he's the Shockey antidote. That's why they took him.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:23 PM
Browns trade up to get KW, good he is in the AFC

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:25 PM
Who will Det take? I say Jackson

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:28 PM
Roy Williams and Charles Rogers should be a great dou for a long time

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:29 PM
Interesting. I love Roy Williams, but I thought the Lions would look for a running back later in the first round. Maybe they couldn't pull off a trade. I guess they'll have to hope someone like Chris Perry lasts into the second round.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:30 PM
Well, if Harrington cannot become a star throwing to Rogers and Williams then he just isn't going to be a star at all.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:31 PM
Irvin is an idiot, saying Williams should not have stayed in school. Maybe he should be a crack head like Mike too.

What an idiot

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:35 PM
Lions got a good deal. Picked up an extra high second round pick for just moving down one place. And they still got Roy Williams. Great job by Detroit.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:36 PM
Irvin is an idiot, saying Williams should not have stayed in school. Maybe he should be a crack head like Mike too.Yeah, I agree. Williams was the seventh pick in the draft. What more does Irvin want? I'd really prefer to have Tom Jackson or Joe Theisman sitting there, but I guess ESPN wants to appeal to young people with Michael Irvin. Doesn't say much for their opinion of young people.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:36 PM
I agree Spence, did someone kidnap Millen and draft for him? :D

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:38 PM
Great pick by the Falcons. They HAD to have a cornerback and they got a very, very good one. Great speed. Decent size. Terrific return specialist.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:41 PM
What will the Jags do? They wanted one of the top receivers, but they didn't get Fitzgerald or Roy Williams. Mike Williams isn't in this draft. I think they should go for Rashaun Woods. Maybe they'll go for Lee Evans or Reggie Williams. They could probably get one of those guys later in the round, so maybe they'll trade down.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:45 PM
The Jags need help at defensive end, so they might go for Udeze or Smith, but they've used their first round pick on defensive tackles the last two years. That's a lot of money to tie up on the defensive line. I think they have to get help for Leftwich. He's their cornerstone.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:48 PM
Maybe someone to relace Jimmy Smith

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:49 PM
Could we trade a first next year and Gardner to move up... guess not

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:50 PM
Reggie Williams is huge. Big target. That's good help for Leftwich, but I think they could have gotten Reggie Williams later in the first round. Very average speed for Reggie Williams. They still need a burner on the other side of the field.

CarMike
04-24-2004, 01:50 PM
Udeze will plummet now that the Jags didn't take him. Seems like his shoulder is hurt pretty bad.

And it appears that Pittsburgh will get Big Ben.

The Texans wont take Udeze will they?

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:52 PM
I've got to think the Texans will either trade the pick to some team desperate to get Roethlisberger. To get him you have to move ahead of Pittsburgh. If the Texans keep the pick I think they'll go defensive line. Probably Tommie Harris.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:53 PM
Udeze will plummet now that the Jags didn't take him. Seems like his shoulder is hurt pretty bad.

If they want Udeze, they could trade down and get him with the injury and get some more picks, could see Pitt trade up to get Ben

CarMike
04-24-2004, 01:54 PM
That would make sence Spence. I think, but not sure, that Harris is from Texas.

I think they go with CB though....

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:54 PM
Whoa. Okay, Chris Mortensen is saying the Texans will go for Dunta Robinson. He's good. Could be better than DeAngelo Hall.

EDIT: And that's who they picked. Good call, Mort.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:55 PM
Good call, Mike.

Skins57
04-24-2004, 01:56 PM
to tell you how far out of the draft I am this year, I have never heard of this guy. Is this is big reach or not?

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 01:56 PM
Pittsburgh has got to take Big Ben at this point.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:56 PM
Well, the Steelers will take Roethlisberger, whose name will go over very well in Pittsburgh.

So, no defensive linemen will be taken in the first 11 picks, at least. When did that last happen? Incredible.

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:57 PM
to tell you how far out of the draft I am this year, I have never heard of this guy. Is this is big reach or not?No, it is not. Robinson is definitely no worse than the second best cornerback in the draft. He might be even better than DeAngelo Hall as a cornerback. Hall has the added talent of being a great return specialist, though.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 01:58 PM

ESPN scoops the commish. Pitt gets the QB they wanted

Spence
04-24-2004, 01:59 PM
3 QB, 2 WR taken in the first 11 picks, but not a single defensive lineman. Amazing.

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:01 PM
Jets need defensive help. I think they go LB or DL. Bills were hoping to get a QB, but I think they may go DL now. Bears might go DL. Bucs will almost definitely go get a DL. I think a mini-run on DL begins soon.

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 02:02 PM

to tell you how far out of the draft I am this year, I have never heard of this guy. Is this is big reach or not?

No Jeff. Not a reach at all. He was rated the 2nd best CB behind Hall of Va. Tech.

This was a pick of need instead of taking the best available.

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:04 PM

I honestly cannot believe my man Udeze has not gone yet!

He will drop because of his injury situation

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:07 PM
Bills need a young quarterback, a fast wideout, and a defensive end. The Bills offense was absolutely punchless last year. They need a star wideout, but I don't see one worth taking here and it is also too early to take Losman, the quarterback.

I think the Bills should either get a defensive lineman or trade down. I don't see an offensive need for them that they can fill productively here. Of course, they might not find anyone willing to deal.

CarMike
04-24-2004, 02:08 PM
Rumors about his bum shoulder is hurting his cause. Will Smith will probably go before him....

The top two running backs need to go off the board before Dallas picks. I don't want them to have a good draft day.

BigCountry
04-24-2004, 02:14 PM
Ok they have gotta stop giving the picks away to Berman, and then Chris pretends he's guessing.

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:14 PM
I thought he was clearly the best wideout left in the draft. In fact, I think he's better than Reggie Williams, who was taken by the Jags. I just think the Bills could have taken Lee Evans later in the first round. I hope they at least tried to trade down...

Skins57
04-24-2004, 02:15 PM
I say Chicago goes Tommie HArris

TwistyNiblet
04-24-2004, 02:16 PM
Harris over Wilfork? I was under the impression that Wilfork was the better player.

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:16 PM
I agree, I think Chicago has got to go DL. Bucs will definitely go DL at #15 because they need someone to replace Sapp.

i dont really know how much i think of steven jackson. i think he might have the highest possibility of being a bust. him and chris perry. kevin jones i dunno. i think the safest choice is greg jones, he wont bust, but he wont be great. im not too worried. tampa might take a rb. denver might take a rb. so im not too worried.

Loved that comment by Jansen that Stephen Davis was not in the game plan during Patrick Ramsey's rookie year. Can you imagine that? An elite running back not in the game plan when you've got a rookie at quarterback? God, that Spurrier was a jackass in Washington.

No, the Bears are very comfortable with Grossman at quarterback. It's too early to call him either way, but he was very impressive last year, I thought. The team looked much better with Grossman at QB instead of Kordell Stewart.

Jansen definitely has a career in future broadcsating, hopefully, it's just inevitable that his smarts off the field translate to on the field, Buges and Gibbs must love him.

badpigs442
04-24-2004, 02:26 PM
Wilfolk or Harris would help them

I'm affraid Harris is destined to make some rookie mistakes. The biggest will be over penatrating. He's so fast that teams will use it against him. Draw plays and traps could be used to take him out of plays.

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:27 PM

WoW Clayton

Spence
04-24-2004, 02:43 PM
Clayton is a replacement for Keyshawn Johnson. Very similar player. Big, strong, possession receiver. It's a pretty good value pick, I just thought they'd try to replace Sapp.

Well, we play these guys in the opening week. This is good news for our offense. Might be bad news for our defense.

Well, we play these guys in the opening week. This is good news for our offense. Might be bad news for our defense.

Why would this be bad news for our D?

Saints won't go for a running back. They'll go defense. Vikings won't go for a running back. They'll go defense. Dolphins won't go for a running back. Patriots probably won't go for a running back.

Stephen Jackson in Dallas unless someone moves up and stops it from happening. Imagine, Dallas filling their biggest need with the top player at running back and doing it without having to trade to move up.

Sometimes, it is better to be lucky than good.

I think this might be like Deuce McAlister a few years ago. When he just kept falling and finally a team (New Orleans) took him despite having a great RB (Ricky Williams) knowing that in a year or two they can deal him for picks. He is clearly the best player available right now.
