Do you think Joe Gibbs will allow the Rookies to be hazed by the Vets during training camp? Will they have to carry equipment, sing their school fight songs,ect...?

I don't see why not. I don't think he'll let them go over board but they'll be some.

There'll probably be some taping to goalposts, dunking in tubs of ice water, etc. I remember from one of the Hard Knock seasons when rookies had their ankles and wrists taped together and were dumped in the whirlpool baths. Better than getting Siragusa's jock in the face.

Well, I'll bet that any hazing that will go one will be friendly and good-natured. The new-look Skins don't want to start any bad blood.

You know I only played HS sports but don't you think this hazing of rookies is just the stupidest thing on the planet? If you want to tie someone to a goalpoast or something like that well it would be hard to stop but things like getting the veterans their drinks or food or carrying their bags - man what a crock. And the answer is always - "Well it's a tradition" As if all traditions are good things (it is too easy to mention so many bad traditions). You know I think Shockey is a punk but when he refused to sing at dinner until he was done I thought that was great. And how stupid is the LB who got angry? He got in a fight with Shockey over that. Let's see: you make your living using your body and then you risk injury by fighting a guy over his not singing? Very bright. The whole concept of hazing is tragically sophomoric. We should leave it to the stupid Greeks in college - these are grown men at work! :rpunch:

There will be hazing but the goal post thing is getting old...they need something new!

enough w/ the humiliating aspects of hazing.. paying for lunches and dinners and doing a talent show should be enough. but i guess since the other veterans have gone thru it themselves they feel the right to do it on others.

There is a fine, dim line between "hazing" and "rights of passage." Humiliation is never productive but I think other "training" can be valuable.

i think its great. life is too short to take everything so serious. its just a game, it doesnt need to be so serious. as long as it doesnt affect their play, do what they want to taylor. on a side not about things that are '
sophomoric', i think the league will lose some excitement when there wont be as many celebrations. some go too far, but i think they are great.

Ha, I wanna see someone do that to Cooley, the man weighs 260...

Most definitely....
Hey folks....there is a difference between "hazing" and good natured fun and games. I don't consider taping a guy to the goal post, short sheeting beds, dumping ice cold water in a vet's bed (which is why Smoot got taped to the goal post)...."hazing".
Playing practical jokes and and teasing each other is part of life....especially in athletics. Joe won't stand for "hazing" but I'm sure "rookie orientation" will be allowed

Well.... That kinda things happen to rookies... I guess that if you are a veteran, and you had a tough time while the vets enjoyed, well, now you have the right to be on the good side. As long as it is not humilliation, I think it's ok. It's fun, sometimes even for the "hazed". It can create good chemistry and a feeling of being now part of a team. As the tradition, I'd stick to it.

Absolutely...
Gibbs loves that stuff too. He loved having guys like Grimm and Riggins on the team. Big pranksters. Work hard, play hard.

It is all part of the process of becomign a team member. I don't find a problem with it at all. Especially for the big head, egotistical first rounders. Great way to bring them down, have fun, and give what coudl be seen as a "rite of passage"

all of that seems true. being the 5th player taken, taylor needs to be shown that he is not above the team, and just cause he's young and super talented, he needs to look up to the vets, not the other way around.
