i had done a post a few days ago, and had listed the incorrect name of a player , i asked for infomation about sean gilbert , but was really thinking of gilbert brown. last thing i had seen he was released by green bay. could be that he is over the hill now , but if he wasnt could be just what we needed to
clog up the middle with our d.line. anyone know anything about what his status is now ?

We could probably get a used Yugo to clog up the middle for much cheaper!

Here is a link to his players page. There he is still considered a Packer but on the Packers roster he isnt listed. According to his stats he must be a DT that occupies blockers, his tackle and sack totals arent very immpressive.

thanks for the link , at 340 not much speed ,but with what i remember with the times i saw him play he clogged up the middle and did occupied the blockers. i am not sure but think the packers released him or he retired.

The Packers released him just before the free agency period started. He tore is bicep last year but played part time anyway. The Packers signed Grady Jackson mid-way through the season last year and were very happy with Jackson's play. Gilbert would probably play another year or two if someone signed him. He was a leader for the Packers, but at this stage of his career, he probably wouldnt have much impact. He is a load, though. I'm surprised no one signed him.

Playing w/ a torn muscle says something about how much he wants to win. If he's in shape and can make the team better then why not take a flyer on him.

over the last 5 years he averaged 25 total tackles and 0 sacks. the thing i remember most about him is how much he had to go out of the game to rest.

BINGO ........ he's not and hasn't been in a while. ... Yeah he'd be an OK addition IF we were looking for a plug DL - but I'd rather have someone who can apply pressure to the QB.

I'd take him in, if he works out he'll let Griffen do his thing one on one, he'll clog half the field, and he won't cost mega millions.

he might be worth the minimum. he spends half his time on the sidelines trying to catch his breath.

Im beginning to wonder if any of you even watch football (besides the Redskins ofcorse)...
Gilbert Brown is a fat, out of shape, lard a$$ that plays about 10-15 plays a game. He rarely can play two downs in a row and has been going on and off the Green Bay Roster for about 7 years...
This guy is a major waste of time...

he can just stand in the way and hide barrow to allow him to make all the tackles. i think he is fat, old and out of shape, but id take him for the vet min. and i do think he would play for the vet min.

can the oxygen tank be built into his pads somehow? you know, like the cooling system in the nascar suits? seriously, i think he could drop to his knees, or lay down and take up 5 feet of space in the line, but we could get a young tub of goo to do that.

Come On Guys!
Its the Grave Digger it would be worth signing him just to see him do the dance.
If he comes for the vet minimum or damb close to it I say sign himput him in the rotation at the run stuffing DT spot with Haley.

He has always had a wieght problem to the extent of only being able to play about 25-30 plays a game.I really dont think he has much left in him.June 1st is always a good time to find an impact player.

Maybe we could get Stubblefield back too?
