I know that people have already mentioned that DT Albert Haynesworth has not reported to Titans camp. I think this should be discussed further because he could really help out the d-line if he becomes available.
Do we want him?
What would we be willing to give up for him?

Would I like to have Haynesworth? Heck yeah.
Can the Redskins aford him? No way in....well, you know where.
There's little doubt what he could do for our DL. But we can't afford everyone who's having trouble at their current team. I wish we could. But we just can't afford him.

Haynesworth has been a bust. Nevertheless, because he has as much talent in his body as all our other defensive lineman have put together, I'd welcome any move by the Redskins to acquire him. Beggars can't be choosers. However, since he is a very recent first round pick, I find it hard to believe the Titans will part with him easily or cheaply. As always, the deal would be made in the details. How much are you willing to give up for him?

Spence. I didn't know he has played that poorly. I thought he had played very well, which is why he's wanting more money....

I don't know about this guy. He is young and has a lot of tallent but he seems to be a bit of a head case. He was inactive for the last game of the regular season for punching a teamate and he has yet to show up for any off-season workouts. If caracter is one of the criteria that we use to select players, this guy has no chance.

Mike, I haven't seen enough Titans games to speak for myself, but I've read in a few publications that Haynesworth has not lived up to potential. He's probably better than anything we've got, though. Also, ddilbeck is correct. Haynesworth attacked a teammate during practice last year and had to be deactivated for the season's final game. It wasn't just the attack on his teammate, though, that earned him a team suspension. Apparently, he also shouted at and verbally abused Head Coach Jeff Fisher.

There's the link from another thread so people can read it in this one too.
not a lot of good comments from team mates.

Thanks ddilbeck and Spence for the info. I wasn't aware of the problems with screaming at players/coaches.
Does indeed seem like a head case....not Gibbs kind of players...

He only started 3 games his rookie season (The last three), so I think it is a little premature to call him a bust.
DTs tend to start slow...so I think he still has time to prove himself on the field. He has performed just as well as Ryan Simms has (KC) and Simms was taken 13 spots higher than Haynesworth. (6th overall)
The character problems are an issue, but I think a healthy Haynesworth immeidately makes an impact on our D-line.

i dunno. he's a good player. but a bad influence in hte locker room. startying fights and all. i say let him go elsewhere. i dont see the titans cutting him though.

Agree. I would pick Haynesworth over Simms any day. I just don't see the Titans cutting him, but it would be an interesting option.

On ESPN radio they talked about him (the show that is now in Kornheiser's spot) and supposedly Haynesworth apologized for missing yesterday and promised not to screw up, but it does sound like he is running out of chances in Tennessee, according to the Tennessee reporter they had on.

I think he would be far too expensive to take a risk on signing. I also wonder if he would fit Gibbs' character test.

every time i hear a guy making excuses for his screwups and promising not to screw up again, it reminds me of a con artist. like strawberry in baseball, or the guy who used to play for the Wizards, i cant remember his name, he called the timeout in the college b.ball championship game when they were out of timeouts...anyways, how many chances and screwups and excuses can you get before you are just a con artist?

It's a good thing you mentioned the part about 'the guy who called the TO he didn't have in college'...otherwise we could have been guessing for about a month on Wizard screw ups...Rod Strickland? Rasheed Wallace? 'Hot Plate' Williams? Jerry Stackhouse? Kwame Brown? Juwan Howard? Christian Laettner? Dinner Bell Mel Turpin? Kevin Duckworth? I agree with you, though, it does seem like the guys who apologize do it again and again, and I can't remember the last time a guy like that delivered championships.

yea! chris webber! con artist. i'm glad i cant remember him. i thought they'd be awesome with him and juwan howard. but anyways i digress. and i dont know why i cant remember...um...hold on lemme scroll down...oh yea, wycheck. he was awesome. cooley is the next wycheck. but yea i dont think you can count on a con artist delivering a championship. i mean i'm all for second chances, but 3rd (fight) and 4th (yelling at coach) and 5th (skipping camp)...how many whacks do you get?

Sims was one of those guys who wasn't a first rounder until his offseason workouts. Those are rarely non-busts.

Can they afford to cut him with the loss of Jevon Kearse?

Simms.....Haynesworth......just one more reason why picking Taylor was the smart move despite our need for defensive linemen.
Gibbs will never trade for Haynesworth if he yelled at his coaches last year. Forget it.......not worth discussing.

Do busts make it a habit of not reporting to camp? I thought great players who want more money did that, unless your name is Underwood.

The Cowboys like NC D lineman. At one point, both of their starters were Tar Heels. I know Ekuban has moved on, but I think the other guy is still there, his name escapes me.

Hmmm... dunno abt the Webber reference - the guy's been a perennial All-Star since he left the Bullets... are you sure you want to use Webber as the comparison to make your point?! By that thinking we should definitely go after Haynesworth - he'll be one of the top 10 players in the league soon enough!
