I almost voted for Jamal Lewis then I thought what am I doing. I honestly believe Portis behind a Buges coached line will be the best.

I went out on limb and said Priest Holmes as he has been doing it slightly longer than Portis. But I would like nothing better than to do this again next year and vote for Portis after a 1600 yard, 20 touchdown season!
And allow me to step in for nyjunc!
"Why isn't Curtis Martin on the list?"

Okay. Homer! Thanks, that felt great!
Got you covered RDave!

One person you will never catch being a "Homer" or as I define it someone who choose only their team is me. I like to believe my judgement is purely based upon actual reasoning that takes into account all factors. That being laid out I have to say that Tomlinson is the man until Portis gets his carries this year. Duke it out young guns.

Would be a homer on this one but have to give it up to Jamal Lewis ..... now after next year, let's hope it's Portis.

Tomlinson puts up great numbers on a horrid team. Put him on a good team and he blows by everyone.

Come on now, I'm fair :) At this stage in his career Curtis does not belong but he's still a good RB and I'm happy to have him.
Hopefully you guys will be fair as well and not put Coles as a choice for best WR. He's very good but there are enough guys ahead of him that he shouldn't be on the list.

You do realize he is coming from an OL that no matter who runs behind it is well over 1,000 yards?

I voted for Holmes. Coudl go with Portis in a year ro two, but he needs to show he can do it in another offense as well, because he is so young. Holmes is the total package.

I went with LT. I think Priest is the product of his system, and I voted as if I were starting a team...Tomlison would be my 1st choice. Perfect combination of speed, power, elusiveness and hands.

I was just messing with ya 'junc! But I'll be waiting for the next poll!
Are you seriously saying that LC is not a top 10 receiver though? Man, you are still sore that whole situation, aren't you? It's not his fault we offered 13 million up front! Let it go!!!!!
As far as Portis goes, I think he could be in for a monster season as I am sure our passing game will be much better than that Pop Warner stuff that SS threw out there last year, the Jets game not withstanding! The passing game will benefit from Portis and vice versa!

Wow - very hard choice. I was going to choose Ahman Green, but went w/ Holmes since he's bascially destroyed DLines the last few years. Tomlinson and Portis got consideration too.

Tomlinson . . . right now, today, the best overall athlete and RB in the NFL. All the tools and all the stats to backup the talk.

Best athlete? I dunno - having a QB that can throw it 80 yards, run a 4.3/40 and cut like a Barry Sanders might get him in this category.

I didn't say he wasn't very good b/c obviously he is one of the better WRs in the league but I can think of 10 WRs I'd rank ahead of him(but he's not far off). I'll save that for the WR discussion so it doesn't bring down this thread

tomilnosn by far. 8 sometimes 9 in the box cant stop him, and double coverage is shaken for 100 catches.

I'm somewhat shocked to see Tomlinson running away with this vote. I realize Faulk is getting old so it's not surprising to see him with 0 votes, but has everyone forgotten what Holmes did the last 3 years?

LT. He is the Chargers entire offense. Their best runner, their best receiver, and I presume he is also their best quarterback:D

LT is the best RB in the league. Than Portis, Priest, Ahman, and Deuce.

Tomlinson gets 1,000 yards on both rush yards and recieving yards, and HOW does he not make the pro bowl? Any other team and he'd be an MVP or Super Bowl running back.

L.T. without a doubt is the best running back in the league. he rushes for 1300+ yards, he catches more passes for more yards than 1/2 the wr's out there, and he does it on THE CHARGERS. that makes him #1 in my book. lets hope CP can do better.

Fair point PainterBoy . . . But then again how many QB's take the pounding LT takes and get over 1200 yards running, per season and total receiving yards in 3 years that exceed more than 1500 yards.

I went with Ladanian Tomlinson...the guy put up moster numbers on a vry bad team last year. He was the only weapon they had and still produced.

I agree with you NamVet that LT is the best RB in the league. I just think Vick is a freak of an athlete, that's all I was trying to say.

Tomlinson, hands down...
He runs fast...he is tough...he can catch the ball and move it upfield (over 100 receptions last year alone)...and he has the opportunity to take it to the house on EVERY carry.
Hands down the best RB in the league.

Two years ago the answer was Marshall Faulk. Now it is LaDainian Tomlinson. That won't help the Chargers much this year, though.

Probably not. They need some wide recievers to catch the ball before they can move out of the cellar.

hard to go wrong apparently with SEC, texas, or miami rbs. no one went with ricky? is it the weed?Nah, probably something to do with the fact that he wasn't very productive last year. Line was terrible so you can't blame it all on him, but Tomlinson didn't exactly have the Hogs blocking for him either.

Ricky's a mean Steer. With any blocking at all he will do some special things this year. I think he'll be back over 1600 yards.

Ricky has only had 1 big time year and that was in '02. He has had good years in 3 of his other 4 years but no other great years. last year he followed up his 1,800 yard performance of '02 w/ 1,300 last year but only averaged 3.5 yards a carry.

Looking for an injury free year from Marshall this year. When healthy, he's the best.

He certainly plays in quite a system with some great players. He can be the best if Bulger can put up MVP #'s like Warner.

Easily Tomlinson. He puts up Pro Bowl numbers every year with no passing threat and no O-line.

Well anyhow even if PoRtis was still on teh Broncos i would vote for him, In my opinion he is the most talented RB in the Game right now statistically you have to go with Tomlinson or Holmes but based on Talent i went with Portis....
