Went with Sonny this time, I probably went with Baugh in the past. Sonny was a magician, great arm very efficient. Sammy had a few too many INTs.

Doug williams was special. He was an old guy kind of like Brunell. He hurt his knee in the first quarter of the super bowl, but came back in the second quarter to do the most amazing 15 minutes of football i have ever seen. I love Sonny and what he did, but that second quarter of the super bown against Denver....now that was special...

I think Doug never got full credit for what he did especially when he was with those horrible Tampa Bay teams and took them to NFC Championships. However, he did his best work at Tampa.
My vote went to Sammy Baugh, he just dominated the game for a while there.

tough question...several answers depending on how you look at it. Tonight I feel like Joey T., simply because he was a driven competitor, thrived in the Gibbs system, and won us our first Super Bowl.

Went with slinging Sammy Baugh. He brought our first 2 championships to D.C. He also was one of the first QBs to actually pass the ball.Football back then was mainly 3 yards and a cloud of dust. :Peace:

i picked mark rypien. we've had successful qb's throughout our history, but rypien was our last great one. we have had a long list of his successors, but none of them compare to mark.

Our Beloved Team has had great QB's and QB's that were busts. But, in the overall, Sammy B was and is the founding franchise QB . . the modern era of the NFL begins with him.

I voted Shuler ..... wait a minute, wrong poll..... I went with Sonny. He is the man. Shuler did get my vote as the worst starting redskin quarterback though.

I went with Sonny six pack (what we called him at my house, because of his gut, and he was known to put down a few) quickess release in the game. Sammy was probably the best all around, played everwhere...........

I had to say Theismann, because I'm too young to have seen Baugh or Jurgenson. Plus, Joe got us our first Super Bowl Championship.

Yeah, why isn't Kilmer on that list? I'd put him up there over Rypien or Williams.
Although, I'd have to pick Theismann as my favorite. I've seen very little footage of Baugh or Jurgenson, but watching those old games with Theismann just brings back how fierce of a competitor he was and how much of a leader he was. He just controlled the offense when he was out there and would sacrifice his body for a few extra yards, or especially for a touchdown. Plus he had the jewels to wear that little one-bar face mask throughout his career. And he returned punts!

For those who want stats:

10 yrs as Skin: 135, 1831, 3155, 22585, *, 179, 381, 5
Baugh,Sammy (15 yrs) 165, 1693, 2995, 21886, 7.3, 187, 203, 325, 9
Theismann,Joe (11 yrs) 167, 2044, 3602, 25206, 7.0, 160, 138, 1815, 17

6yrs as SKin: 77, 1244, 2207, 15928, *, 101, 75, 151, 8
Keep in mind that only Baugh and Theismann played exclusively for the Redskins.
I think I'll go with Joe, because he was still going strong when he was taken out of the game by LT. I believe he had the potential to be the greatest.
But there is no lack of respect from me for the other guys on this list!
