the Broncos released Daryl Gardener. Any chance we pick him up? I've read somewhere (probably on here) that we're not interested in him. Whats the latest?

He had already arranged to sign with Cincy a while back. 4 Years at 9.3 mil I believe.

Yeah, he was wedded to Marvin Lewis, not the Skins necessarily. He proved that during contract negotiations.

already gone, but way too expensive though.

Would have like to have seen him back in a Skins uniform (should have never been released ) but knew he'd wanted to get back with Coach Lewis. I hope he gets his act back together there - still can be an awesome player when he wants too.

Cincy, you can have him for that kind of money.

Yeah, I read that him and Cincy had a deal in place several months ago and I don't recall hearing the Broncos giving him permission to speak with other teams. Wouldn't that be tampering or something.

Sounds like tampering to me......I just wish we hadn't let him go, he did well for us. and I believe that lettgin him go led to us being where we are at dline. I think he could have been a force here

At this stage of his career, Gardener is only good when playing on a 1-year contract...or in a contract year. Anytime he is "given his money" he under performs, or gets himself in enough trouble to miss games.
The Bengals can have him....

Gardener is better then every D-lineman we have except Griffin.

we could have had an NFL all star team and not won last year. SS was out-gunned.

Are you referring to the Daryl Gardener who played amazingly for the Skins two seasons ago during a contract year, or the Daryl Gardener who got beaucoup bucks from the Broncos last year and played sparingly?
They may look the same person, but I think performance-wise, they are lightyears apart.
If I had to pinpoint one NFL player in the NFL who ultimately plays for nothing more than the almighty dollar, it would be Daryl Gardener. Now that the Bengals have given him some up-front money, his sole motivation on the playing field has been nullified.
I'll take a hungry Jermaine Haley or Brandon Noble over a non-hungry Daryl Gardener anyday.

Gardener is only good when he has a contract to play for. When he has a multi year deal, he sucks. He's a Merc, nothing more. Good Riddance. RD is right, he's better than most of our current dlinemen, but I wouldnt bring him back.

It'll be interesting to see if the coaching staff has anything to do with it. We're going to find out, that's for sure.
