Have you guys taken a look at our roster as of right now?

It is pretty amazing and you have to wonder who will make the final roster. This turned out to be harder than I thought.

Here is my estimate based on nobody new coming on board:

Offense

QB's: Current 4, Season 3 (Gibran goes to the practice squad)
RB's: Current 5, Season 4 (John Simon? Betts for backup and Morton/McCollough for 3rd downs and maybe KR)
WR's: Current 12!, Season 6? (I would cut Gary Scott, Sean Dillard, Jonathan Brewer, John Standeford and put Jafar Williams and Scott Cloman on the practice squad)
TE's: Current 7, Season 4 (Cut Kevin Ware and Leonard Stephens and put Robert Royal on the practice squad)
FB's: Current 2! Season 1 (or 0) Keep Rock and get rid of Sellers
OL's: Current 12, Season 8 (Cut: Ben Nowland, Quinn Christensen, Daryl Terell, and put one or two of the draft picks on the practice squad).

Total for offense: 24

Defense:

DL/DE's: Current 13, Season 8 (Cut:Anybody you want except Griffin and Daniels)
LB's: Current 11, Season 7 (Cut: Clifton Smith, Billy Strother, and two more)
CB's: Current 10, Season 7 (Cut: Ade Jimoh - if he is on the team this year, I WILL go on a killing spree, Michael Hall, Todd Franz)
S's: Current 5, Season, 4 (Practice squad for Denard Wilson 0- hey I went to Maryland so sue me).

Total Defense: 26

Special Teams:
Hall - K
P - Don't care just keep one
Albright - Long Snapper - keep him

Total Special Teams: 3

Total Team: 53 (pretty close to roster limit, I think)
Practice Squad: 6

I doubt Sellers is going anywhere. He was one of the first signings.

Too hard to figure at this point. Alot will depend on who steps it up in training camp and impresses Gibbs&Co. Guys like Cloeman who impressed us all last year only to make it on the practice squad might not make it pass the first cut this year - then again ......... One thing is for sure, we'll find out come the first week in September.

Yeah, I think Sellars will make the team and I thought we heard good things from Clifton Smith. But it is early so anything can happen.

i think some of the depth is in place for special teams, some for practice quad, all with the intention of fixing the cap by letting some of these guys eventually take over for higher priced veterans. who knows if we will be able to re-sign gardner or smoot next year. that may be the one of the reasons behind bringing in so many receivers and corners. the competition will be huge just for playing time on special teams or a spot on the practice squad.

Someone should tell Clinton Portis that better players then him have agreed to switch jersey numbers. How long has it been like 3 months?

My thought too...I think he's penciled in at H-back and it wouldn't surprise me to see some project O-linemen come along as Bugel projects that really take some people by surprise. Don't forget about the Samuels Cap issue brewing

for the price of one KW, we have about 6 quality guys at tightend and hback. for the price of one bailey, we have similar depth at DB. for the price of one eli manning, we have 2 starting QB's, 2 more backups behind them, with plenty of change to spare.

Cap implications aside, can you imagine if we'd hung onto Davis for just one more year AND picked up Portis....oh the thought!...

I would hate to be an undrafted WR on this roster. Knowing we are going to carry more TE's and H backs than usual, WR at the most will be 5. Russell and Cloman really don't have a chance, so the undrafted guys are really behind the 8 ball.

this is when cream starts to rise up to the top and hard work pays off while the slouches go home knowing what a real determined Head Coach is about.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't coach Gibbs the master of hidding players on injured reserve for future use. There may not be as many cuts as you think!
