This guy is awesome!!! He just got his 81st consecutive save last night against the Yanks! So? Can he get 19 more?

He's great but he got real lucky last night. If not for Matsui's error then Giambi's HR off Gagne would have tied it up but it didn't and congrats to him. He's amazing but I still want to see him prove on the big stage like Mariano has.

he is the best closer of our time, i dont see any reason why he wont, he had his slip last night and he still got the save, dont doubt him

Who's time? The best closer in MY time is Mariano Rivera.

Rivera has certainly saved many more big games than Gagne has, but that is at least partially a result of the vastly different strengths of the two teams.

Gagne would be a good in hte playofs as he is in the reg season. He is one of the best.

Well, technically he blew a save in the All-Star game last year, but who's counting?

I hope he does it,but I had to vote no.Baseball players are a superstitious bunch and I think the pressure will get the better of him.It may only take 1 bad pitch.

That's probably the biggest pressure game he's pitched in and that's why I want to see him do it when it counts. I'm not saying he can't but a few years ago Trevor Hoffman was annointed the best closer and the Yanks got to him twice in the '98 WS so he still has something to prove.

19 in a row is alot, especially when you have saved 81 in a row...I say no, he won't do it.

If he can do 81 in a row, why not 100? What is so awesome to watch about Gagne is that he brings a starters mentality to closing, not like guys like Julio who just go out and throw fastballs every time out. He changes speeds incredibly and has a devestating change up.

Certainly not Elias!

He will get touched somewhere and lose the streak.

I voted yes. I'd love this guys job. Come in and pitch one inning of baseball and get praised for it. Hate to say it because he's a Yankee, but Mariano is the best.

Hoffman was a great show that year. That stadium would go NUTS when the PA system would start playing the big booming bells from Hell's Bells. One of the greatest intro's i've ever seen!

Even this year, Rivera has 27 saves to Gagne's 18 and Rivera has a .96 ERA to Gagne's 1.76. So I absolutely think Rivera is better.

You and dj should start a club. He predicted we won't start the season with 2 punters! :)

I hate Gagne and his stupid GAME OVER. thing. He seriously is like a homer favorite so they allways call low and outside strikes. It's real dumb and I quit liking him once I saw the Yanks game.
