I waited till i felt my game was good enuff two get good clubs i had been playing McGregors not bad but now i fell like a stud.

Wanted two know what you golfers out there play? What your handicap is? And invite anyone who might be in the Va Beach area two a round with me i might even pay, unless you bet me lol.

I'm not sure my handicap is quantifiable. This is my first summer of playing on even a semi-regular basis. I'm still playing the cheapos I got so I could learn.

Question though. Did you get that 15 handi at municipal courses or real ones? If you shoot in the 80's at Hell's Point, then it's legit. Either way, your best bet is to find a reliable custom fitter (ask around) and have yourself fitted. They use all the parts to name clubs but will fit you perfectly.

Looks like dave has been to Va Beach, well dave i play 80% of my golf at TPC of Va Beach right near home and very tuff ,Hells piont is like 4 or 5 on my list of fav's in Va Beach i do break 90 at hells piont but do not get under 86 i play strict golf no mulligans or foot wedges. Also play west neck, herrions ridge and the signature, but mostly at TPC. Have you played TPC yet? Do you golf in Va Beach on the Reg? You never answered my question about handi and clubs.

Keep your head up Ky, Play fair have fun, its a great game and something to get you away from the wife.

Well I've been playing for about 8 years now and I don't have an official handicap, but lately I'm scoring anywhere from 92 to 105 ... shows how consistent I am!!! I'm negotiating with my Uncle for his Nike Forged Irons and his Titlest driver. Last week I won the longest drive competition at my alumni golf outing with my $50 no-name driver, so not sure why I need a $150 Titlest club. I should start keeping my handicap online, I know there has to be some free sights that calculate it for you. My goal is to start breaking 90 consistently, but my short game (inside 150) needs work!

Oh I have a blast (I'm playing once I get off work today). I need to get a lesson or two, but I get out as often as I can.

We actually are planning a hR Golf Outing for the Saturday before the Tailgate.

As for me, I've only been playing for 3 mos now, but most people that I play with say that my game appears to be ahead of where most people with the same amount of experience are at this point, so keeps me encouraged. I have played every weekend since I bought my clubs, which is driving my wife crazy.

I'm playing with a set made by Cougar that I paid about $125 for. I will continue to use those for at least a year until I see drastic improvement in my game. I generally score anywhere between 105 and 115, but I have broken 100 once.

Well Padraic you got me looking at work today. I checked out a bunch of sites and actually ended up buying a Callaway C4 from golfsmith.com for only $100. All the reviews I read were glowing. The only knock on the club was it doesn't "ping" when you hit it. 270 down the middle and that club can quack like a duck for all I care.

That's pretty good Kenny. I haven't broken 120 yet. I've played a total of seven times this year (mostly on par 3 courses that are hurting me I think). I dream of breaking 100, but it doesn't seem to be coming this year.

I used to play alot - at least once or twice a week, with a trip to the driving range in there somewhere too. I got my handicap down to around 12. But that was before I had 3 kids. I did play this past Monday. But that was the first time time in over 18 months.

A new 9 hole course just opened right near my house. I'm hoping I can get out there semi-regularly this summer. So far it hasn't worked out, but hopefully that will change.

I Drive with a Taylor Made 8.5 degree Burner Bubble. I use Irons that I won in a poker game - I'm not really sure what they are, but I did get a hole-in-one with the 6-Iron from the set. I also have a 64 degree Lob Wedge, which is awesome from the tight spots.

I bet if you play more you will see improvements. Like I said, I haven't missed a weekend in 3mos, and I have sprinkled in some mid-week rounds also when I am able to get away from FedEx with daylight still available.

Get out there and play some longer courses. That will allow you to use more of your clubs and get a better feel for them. I know that seems to have helped me out greatly.

I can't wait to justify my buying some Nike Slingshots, telling my wife that my current set is holding me down. Of course, those Slingshots will be this year's version, and it will be around 2005 when I buy them. :D

Yeah, I played one of Golf Digest's top 10 courses in KY (Including the second hardest hole in the state) on Wednesday that about killed me on Wednesday. If I have to hit anything longer than a 6, I'm screwed. Hitting the range and maybe a couple of holes tonight, so we'll see.

I agree about those slingshots. They're pretty sweet, but it's gonna be a while before I will buy something like that. That Taylor Made r7 driver with the adjustable weights looks really sweet. Not $500 sweet, but pretty sweet.

Yea ive been golfing for 3 months now and im doing pretty good. Theres a par 3 course by my house and I hoping to break 80 in the next couple of weeks as i hit around an 85 at it now. I use this $130 set of Kinght golf clubs from galyans, and when I get better I wanna pick up some nicer clubs :-)

I've had my stix for 3 years now but this year I've played alot and it's because rskinsfan10 got his this year. He's my partner on the course. I've seen plenty of improvement in my game and I'm playing with some old Pro Kennex with graphite shafts. It's hard finding left-handed clubs for a cheap price. I'm very happy with my short game but my driving needs work. I thought I had straightened it but I have more work to do. I have a short par 3 9-hole course near me and I play it alot. On the weekends rskinsfan10 and I venture out to 18-hole courses around the area.

As for my handicap, I just started keeping up with it and I'm using some software I downloaded. Currently it is 18 and only based on that 9-hole course.

I can't hit my long irons for the life of me, so I'm replacing them with a fairway wood.

The software I'm using to track it is Golf Budde and it can be found at the following link:

http://www.buddesystems.com/GolfBudde.htm

I also downloaded a trial version of GStat Pro 4 and it can be found at:

I just found a left-handed Knight Hyper Mach TI driver (400cc) in Sports Authority for $24.97. I got it knowing it was probably old and isn't rated very wellbut I wanted to get a feel for the larger-faced drivers. When I can find left-handed clubs for a cheap price, I get them. I also bought a 9-wood for the same price because I'm replacing my longer irons (3,4,5) with fairway woodsl. My driver's club face is very small compared to what other players are using that I play with and I felt slighted (LOL).

Just got back from a golf weekend w/ my Uncles. I remember someone mentioned a few Va Beach courses in this thread - we played Heron Ridge & Hell's Point on Saturday and then Stumpy Lake on Sunday. My best was a 92 at Hell's Point and I was in good shape at Stumpy Lake until the par 5's on the back ...

Anyway, it was a good weekend and my hands are freaking killing me ...

glad you had fun at the beach, 92 at hells piont is a good score. i know all about the back at stumpy lots of water runs down the side of a couple holes can be real tuff, i like herons ridge alot fun setup lots of ob wetlands makes finding you ball and taking drops a common problem. hope ypu come back real soon.
