Key BCS foe likes changes, wants even more (http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sports_story.asp?intID=38163117)

Cowen formed a coalition of the presidents of 52 universities excluded from the BCS. He sees that as the biggest reason the BCS is now looking at revamping its system.

"In the past, one or two schools that did not belong to the organization tried to complain, but it was hard on that basis to make a change," Cowen said. "This was the first time an organized group with a plan tried it."

Finally, something is happening to make the BCS BS better !!!

It is no coincidence that the President of Tulane is spearheading this drive. Back in Shaun King's Senior year, Tulane under Bowden's kid (who is now coaching Clemson) went undefeated in the regular season, and the only bowl they could go to was the Liberty Bowl, which they won.

Now I'm not saying that Tulane was the best team in the country that year. But the way the system was then and is now, it tells the kids who play on MOST of the college teams in the country, that no matter what you do, you have NO chance of winning the National title. You can play your heart and soul out. You can give your all for your team. You can even beat every team you play every Saturday of the season, and you won't even get any consideration for a Championship. And that right there is the biggest problem I see with College football.

I don't agree with tinkering around the edges of the BCS. I love it when almost every year a situation arises which shows what BS it is. Scrap it and put in a playoff/tournament format, and finally for once crown a real champion on the field.

I agree Mike, scrap it ! But it won't happen! So, while they debate and the players wait, at least this might be one way to improve what is already acknowledged as the worst playoff system in sports. !

Pathetic ! :(
