The talk of moving that pick was making me sick. I am stoked the Caps got Ovechkin. He's supposed to be a sure thing. So much so that the team who had the number one pick last year tried to argue that four leap years had passed over his life so he should be considered 18 even though he was two days short.

They were saying that he was gonna be a player like Jaromir Jagr.

He reminds me of Bondra when he first came over.

He is supposed to the real deal. Plays good defense is a scoring machine.
I agree Dave. I was worried right up to the point where they mentioned his name. If they would have traded out of the #1 position I would have to question why I'm a fan of the Caps when it would have been apparent they didn't want to win or put out a good team....

He is supposed to be like Illa Kovolchuk of the Thrashers...only bigger and faster...wow! We had 3 picks in the first round so we managed to grab some big defensemen too...maybe...just maybe...this franchise is trying to gain some respectability! I'll believe it when I see it but at least this year you can say the Caps drafted better than the Bullets! Let's go CAPS!

On NBC yesterday, Wally Bruckner said, "the Caps used the first pick to draft Alexander Ovechkin, of the Soviet Union."

The NHL's slowly being lowered into the grave anyway, not much of a difference here....
