Why the hell are we still messing with this guy? He can't even beat the damn Royals. We HAD to have him this year for some reason, while Millwood and a number of pitchers were still out there. We should have tried to trade for Freddy Garcia, but another team scooped him up for next to nothing. Now we're stuck with this so called "ace" who has ALREADY lost ten games this year. All of our other "struggling" pitchers (obviously not the best bunch) are even doing better than this guy. We're paying him top dollar too. jesus. Trade him for WHATEVER we can get. Sorry just a vent, but i had to tell somebody....... :banghead:

Based on his appearance I'd say he not only sucks but he chews, gnarls, nips and inhales about anything.

The White Sox gave up two pretty good prospects Garcia which makes no sense for the O's to do when they're so far back.

Thats another thing. The O's are PLEADING for him to lose some weight, yet he ballons up. Sidney, you're robbing the O's bank, hire a damn nutritionist.

ponson sucks ponsons sucks ponson sucks, orioles just suck overall, theyre gonna suck until angelos gets run out of town that guy is the ultimate sleezebag, I've been boycotting rooting for the orioles because their managment is doing EVERYTHING they can to get the expos anywhere but DC, they're pissing me off so now I get kinda happy when they lose.

ponson cant handle being the ace thats why the o's need to go out this offseason and pick up matt morris or russ ortiz or millwood to put up there and then put ponson at no 2 then cabrera and bedard(really underrated) at 3 and 4 then let rodrigo(a few good starts), riley(good start on sunday, also has a nasty curveball that if he can find the zone with it can dominate hitters) ainsworth, and dubose go at it for number 5. We still have Maine in the minors along with Loewon...not sure how much longer it will be for them but I think Maine will be up in September and will try to get a spot in the rotation for next year. Their offense is producing its just the pitching. Also i think we should give up on julio at closer and give bj ryan a shot at it(only has given up 2 hits against lefties this year) Dejean sucks...im not sure why they signed him because he didnt do well last year. Grimsley is decent enough(the reason he lost the game on sunday was not because of his pitching but because of his inability to throw to second base) (also a note on that comeback they gave up....lee should have brought in bj ryan earlier...he was just waiting in the bullpen.) Well its the o's so you never know what stupid thing they'll do next....

And the problem about the expos coming to dc is that they have no one left and the longer they keep them in montreal the more quality players theyll lose...

I agree with you on most things. Our offense is good enough to contend, it's just our pitching that is terrible. Rodrigo Lopez NEEDS to go back to the bullpen, and BJ Ryan is a monster when only needing to pitch an inning (though he gave up a hit to a lefty today, making it three). But everybody knows that the problem is Peter Angelos. I have no problem with the Expos coming to D.C. I'm not gonna root for them, but it doesn't matter to me if they're there or not. Theres a football team both in D.C. and Baltimore isn't there? Angelos needs to concentrate on getting fans to the game. He has no idea how to do that it seems.

"Sidney Ponson sucks" is like saying "water is wet". Ponson has talent, but his fastball has no movement and his breaking stuff isnt consistent. Maybe Ray Miller can help him.

Why anyone expected a guy with his career numbers to be an ace is beyond me. I was worried the Yanks might get him to be the number 5 guy.

If the Yankees had signed him he'd probably be 10-3 instead of 3-10.

While I do agree that he sucks and is the worse #1 in the league, he does need to get better run support. Which is what the Yankees would give him with their offensive power.

Indeed. Let us rejoice in the things that go dreadfully wrong in Baltimore....wasn't this guy saying he was going to be the 1st 20 game winner since Mike Boddicker in 1983? LMAO

You no you are a terrible pitcher when you are over 270 pounds, and your opponents batting average against you is higher than your body fat percentage.

the guy pitched well for 4 months last year and for the o's thats enough for 7 mil a year for 3 years....but after this year segui and cordova will be gone freeing up a lot of space and so the o's can sign a real ace and take attention away from fatboy

I just love to watch the folks who thought the O's would be competitive have to watch them be 20 games back before the All Star break.

Ouch!

I thought they would be competitive...not winners of the division. I expected their young pitching staff to be better than they are.

No one expected them to be competitive in their division with the Yankees or the Red Sox. It is more fun to watch them though with the players that they have.

Dare I say it..... Why can't we just be like the Yankees?!?! Great hitters so they don't have to worry about pitching. We have a couple great hitters (Miguel Tejada and Rafael Palmero), we have a good hitter in Javy Lopez, and we have some decent hitters in the other guys. None of our hitters suck except for maybe the pitcher that just came up from the minors who tries to bat.

I, for one, want the Expos to go to Norfolk because then I could get season tickets. Norfolk is abotu half an hour away from me (relatively), and I could go to alot of the games.

Yeah the O's have a pretty good offense, but it's no where near the Yankees. A-Rod, Giambi, Sheffield, Jeter, the list goes on. Plus the Yankees have WAAAAAAY better pitching than us.

If only we could play the red sox every game. They are going to collapse, and miss the playoffs, and if they arent careful the drays will catch them.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Sidney Ponson says he hurt his pitching hand fending off a restaurant patron in a shoving match, the second time in three months the Baltimore Orioles right-hander was involved in a fight.

First the judge incident in Aruba, then the one over the weekend where he hurts his PITCHING HAND. Now he got a DUI in January?!! How much does it take to get your visa revoked anyways?
