My sons old PS2 died on him this morning. So I went and bought him a new one. [along spiderman 2]
This one came with the online adaptor. I've never played online and was wondering how you manage to do it. Does it cost? [I'm sure it does these days]
And if so, who do you pay and what other things should I know about if I do decide to do it?
Thanks in advance guys...
Mike.

Well, I'm pretty positive you have to pay with PS2, but for Xbox you definately have to pay. You'll probrably pay Sony I guess. Online play can be great or extremely frustrating depending on who you play. Like with sports games, there can be cheaters and guys that will quit on you right before you win, which sucks. But when you play a stand up guy who will take a loss and play respectively, it can be a really fun time.

NO, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. I've had my Network Adapter since it first came out and I haven't paid Sony or Anyone a cent of my money. You set up a configuration and connect to the net via dialup or broadband. Only games you have to pay-to-play online for are Final Fantasy XI and Everquest Online Adventures. All EA sports games are FREE (NCAA and Madden, hell yes), as are some great games like Need for Speed: Underground and the SOCOM Series. BUT, be aware, some are broadband only (Cable, TI, etc)

College students ;). Well actually, most colleges share T3 connections with all the students, so you don't get the bandwith of a full T1, but I have downloaded at 1.5Mbytes per second before while at Tech (granted this was before everyone moved in).

plus with live it's mandatory for every game developer to make it be able to let people talk to each other through mics... strange but true (i make myself sound like a foreign person to confuse people).

sorry, I didnt have time to read what everyo en says but you don't have to pay fo rthe online adapter and to use it unless its final fantasy an everquest. You don't need a TI. I don have it. DSL or Cable will work just fine... just affod the dialup players.... its like a quick pictures being taken on the tv

the dial up part isn't necassarily true as I only have dialup because I am not fortunate enough to live close enough to a city to get it. I have played hundreds of games online against high speed and dial up and had very little trouble or blipping screens. BTW Mike, I would be glad to play you online when you get it set up (I suck).
