Hey gang, I found this and thought it was interesting! Looks like Joe is trying to get Dan Snyder to buy into Joe's 3rd NASCAR team. Sure would be cool to see some redskin themed cars race next year! Anyway, here's what I found:

Redskins Owner to be part owner of Gibbs 3rd team? #18/#20/#80/#11 Cup team owner, Joe Gibbs has apparently persuaded the owner of the Washington Redskins, Daniel Snyder, to take a stake in his newest stock-car team, according to team sources. The third Gibbs team [#80/#11], which finished 31st Sunday with Mike Bliss at the wheel, is still in its infancy, with no driver or crew chief yet for 2005, though there has been heavy speculation that Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray are under consideration. J.J. Yeley, the hotshot USAC Sprint racer driving for Gibbs on the Busch tour this year, is also a long-shot for the ride but probably needs another year or two of seasoning before moving up to Cup.(Winston Salem Journal)(7-13-2004)

Don't fool yourself, once you get hooked....you'll love it!It has replaced all other sports as my 2nd favorite.Check out this forum in the future for the growing list of race fans. You gotta love a sport where you have 40 plus choices[instead of 2] of which to cheer for. There's a racer or race team for everyone. It sounds like you've got yours picked for next year,so that's half the battle.

maybe. i'd definitely try it with an open mind... but i think it would take the introduction of a "redskins" car to get me going. i'm always willing to try something new...

i used to work for MBNA and i had tons of chances to go see races at dover and i always passed... then of course after i leave, MBNA invites joe gibbs to sign autographs and meet employees... ARGH! i did get an autographed picture from a friend, but i was disappointed that i didn't get to meet him. i was told he was a little under the weather from a cold and the demanding schedule, but he still stayed to sign for every single person and so nice to everyone...

It happened to me! I watched the first race of the year in its entirety, and now I'm hooked.

I'd love to see Danny get involved with Joe Gibbs Racing!

I like all sports. I read about all of it so I can have conversations with my customers and friends.

With racing, it took one trip to Martinsville, Va. to get me hooked. Its the only race I've been too so far. But I can't wait to go again.

BTW, I can see it now. Snyder will be going after Jeff Gordon, Dale Jr., Jimmy Johnson.....:D

Is there a source for that material? It would be nice to see a Redskins-themed car out there. Does the NFL allow owners to participate in other sports financially. Just asking.

The #18 Joe Gibbs Interstate Battery Car used to be partially sponsored by the NFL.I don't know if that still holds true today.Anyway, depending on where the track was located helped to determine which racing helmet had the decals of the closest NFL team. The helmet was suppose to look like an NFL helmet.I'll see if I can track one down.

I will never forget when Gibbs racing won their first Daytona 500. Dale Jarrett was wearing a Dallas Cowpuke helmet....:(

About made me sick to my stomach...

NASCAR might have to consider a salary cap.

i really do not want anything to take away attention to the redskins getting a SB.

Jarrett drove for Gibbs right after Joe left football for NASCAR. Didn't last too long though.

Who else has driven for Gibbs?

I caught my first Busch series race last weekend and realized that Gibbs also owns the Bliss and JJ. Yealy cars.

Not a bad stable of drivers he has....Now, if he can land McMurray, it will only get better.

LOL...this picture is on NASCAR's website with the tonge-in-cheek caption of;

"This was also Tony Stewart's fault."

I have tried to watch it seriously, but all I really do is watch to see how Gordon is doing. I can't stand him. I watch basically to keep up on the conversations. Otherwise it looks very boring to me.

Dale Jarret won a Winston Cup title with Joe, didn't he?

No, I don't think so. Just the Daytona 500. I believe Gibbs has won two NASCAR championships. One with Labonte and one with Stewart.

ISF, have you ever been to a race before? Thats where you can get hooked. NASCAR is kinda like MLB. Pretty boring to watch on TV but great to watch live.

I will say this. I'd rather watch a race than a 9 inning baseball game on TV.

I believe Jarrett drove for Gibbs about 5 years before Bobby Labonte took over.Gibbs was also into the NHRA for awhile as well. That's dragster and funnycar racing to those that may not have known.

If you ever get a chance to see a race live,do as CarMike said and go see it.It's awesome. The roar of all those engines, you'll need earplugs,a radio,or in a perfect setting,a scanner.Take a walk around the track[while they're racing]and it will literally take a hat off of your head because of the horsepower. You'll smell the aroma of burning racing fuel and be covered with miniscule pieces of rubber from the tires. It's definitely a sensory experience. And last but not least,if you think football game day tailgating is great, nobody does it better than NASCAR fans.Instead of a couple of hours, theirs can last for days.WOO HOO HEE HAW...I'm getting fired up!!!

Don't forget the flyover, I've been to two races and both times the flyover gave me both a headache and goosebumps. Its loud as hell, but there is nothing like it.
