Our neighbor is a HS football coach in Loudon County, VA; he says that Steve Spurrier is going to be a volunteer "specailist" coach for Loudon County HS this season.
This is where SS's son, Scott Spurrier, plays football.

Wow thats pretty cool for the players. I would have thought that Spurrier would have been in Florida by now.

Too bad most of The Visor's old Gator players probably can't read well enough to enroll in a high school. He won't be able to stack the line-up with them.

well his protection scheme probably will work in HS....maybe.

Naw, his son didn't want to change schools again, so the wife and other kids went bak to FL, and Steve and Scott rented a townhouse in VA for Scott's senior year.

Somebody warn the quarterback now. Tell him to transfer to another school quick.

I'm going to give the OBC some credit.Anyone willing to give up $5 mil./yr to be a volunteer H.S. specialist has guts.I think this move, right here, indicates that his paid coaching career is over. He'll just do it for fun.

I want him to come and coach my team. It sucks. We were 0-10 last season. But that was before I came to the team ;). Our school is supposed to be pretty good this season.

What's he going to volunteer? "Aw shucks, lets just throw it out there and see what happens!"

awesome! i do not live in the area, buit maybe i can make the trek for one game. i still like SS, and i think he could be successful as an NFL coach. he needed to start as a coordinator... anyway, i wish him the best.

i agree with giving spurrier credit, but almost any college in the nation would roll the red carpet for this guy... he'll coach once his son graduates.

Yeah I like him too, but there is still that part of me sayin... "Don't warm up to him! He walked out on us. They stole the precioussssss..." Sorry bout that. And yeah he did need to start out as a coordinator. He would've learned more about the NFL and he would've been a lot more successful. Like Joe Gibbs, he started out as a coordinator.

i agree. it wasn't his lack of football knowledge that doomed him... it was inability to adapt from college to the pros. i think he would be better given another shot, but he had to leave the redskins. once you lose the respect of the players, it is over.

Our neighbor coaches Park View HS in VA, they play Loudon County HS October 30th. Maybe we'll go to that one!

do you think spurrier would be on the sideline? or would that be a distraction for the team?

You mean with all the angry Redskin fans in the stands throwing Pepsi cups at him and whatnot? :D

If SS ends up coaching, I bet he will not be on the field. Probably too much distraction for his son...

You know if Loudon ever plays Yorktown in Arlington VA? I'm gonna be playing JV for them this fall (god willing) and just wanna know if we'll face them.

I hope SS loses a game early in the season, and then can get a quote in the school paper with his classic line: "gotta coach em up" (moving his hat up and down his face)

Welcome to hR LavarEatsBabies. That avatar is disturbing but I can live with it, but I like the signature. Are you gonna be a sophomore or freshman? I'm gonna be a freshman playin HS ball at Watkins Mill HS. Thats in Maryland so we won't play you.

I've never played football for a team before, always pickup games, so I'm playing JV as a junior. I figured I'd just learn all the skills first and then go Varsity next year. And how could anyone not like my avatar? It's great! I just compiled 3 images I found on google.com

It just puts my name into a picture, symbolizing that Lavar is a beast, on and off the field.

See, I think it could be interpreted that Lavar can handle the run of the mill players (i.e. babies) in the NFL with ease, but against the elite (i.e., non babies) he does not do so well?
