2K5 Officially Rocks

Hey all - I bought the new ESPN game and it rules. Well worth a rent for all you Madden loyalists, and obviously well worth the skimpy 20 dollar price tag to own. I really didn't like last year's version as 2K3 was my all-time favorite... But this one is way better than last year's. For those of you who don't like Madden or just need something to tide over their cravings for Madden 2005, definetely check it out!!

SAY IT AIN'T SO!! I have this game scalpin and you're right it's wonderful.. BUT!!! I have two bones to pick and maybe you can tell me if you've run into the same problem. First... I can't see the players on defense. When I zoom out it doesn't show me who's covering who or the names of ANY of the players on offense or defense. How do I know which side of the field T.O. is on? If they've switched sides or put T.O. in the slot I can't tell. It's too far to read the numbers for me and it won't tell me when I zoom out. If I pick a play and I zoom out it doesn't tell me who's covering who. I need that so I can know who I want to pick. Also, what's the point of making your own custom playbook if you can't add it to your VIP and play with it online??? That defeats the purpose. Other than those two things this is the best football game I've played and that's coming from A MADDEN FAN! Except for those two things of course. It's hard for me to play defense if I can't see all of the offensive players and know where they are lined up.

Yeah I got the game today and I gotta say it's pretty cool. It's a lot better gameplay than last years, and the graphics are amazing. It's pretty cool seeing Sean Taylor on the field and LaVar Arringtons picture and stats during a game.

Holy poop...my friend just told me that the CPU will initaiate trades on its own and then u find out through sportscenter...he said the (CPU) Redskins traded Sean Taylor to the (CPU) Jags for Hugh Douglas. Crazy.

Yep. In all of my hysteria in getting prepared for this game, I forgot to reserve my copy. I went into three stores this afternnon looking for it, but no luck. One of the stores was that particular Target, and the guy in the afternoon told me that they didn't get it. I had to go back to that same store to pick up a wedding gift, and as I'm casually passing buy the game section, low and behold they had a plethra of copies. I was looking for the intelligent guy that told me that they didn't have it in stock.

On xbox I think it looks really good. Maybe it's just a repercussion of having a ps2

The only nitpicky thing I have with this game is that they don't run as smoothly as Madden does.

I think I have had problems with this as well but I think I know some of the reason at least. The controls are very sensitive and how hard you're pressing forward depends on how fast your run. He starts to stop a lot and start to juke or stutter (starts to stop; is that possible?). I use the anolog to run so a lot of times it's because I've eased up on the stick. I tried using the dpad to run but my dpad is one connected unit and not the little buttons like on playstation and I don't like that. Aight, all this talk makes me wanna play... I'm off... I can't wait 'til madden still so I can compare the two. I'm interested on how madden will stack up once I'm used to espn.

word to big bird (that's called super caucasian ebonics, not that I'm familiar with that). I too can't wait till madden comes out. I have been playing my 2004 version with the downloaded roster update with Portis and Taylor, but it's just not the same. My boss at work baught ESPN 2005 and says he likes it better than Madden, but he doesn't play straight up simulation football, he likes the more arcade like games so maybe that's why.

I was a madden guy, but couldnt resist at 20 bucks. The game has taken getting used to, but its a pretty good game. the problem is that the players dont run smoothly. I hate having to tap x rather than just holding it down for a speed burst. Vs the bucs in my franchise, i had 80 yards of offense, but won 14-6 on 2 ints for tds. I simulated a season, and afterwards the redskins are in cap hell!! I didnt sign anyone in free agency, and after signing 4 of my rookies i was 5 million over the cap. and rod gardner retired after the season!!! Its really cool because they give the rookies random pictures. The sportcenter part is cool and mel kiper even gives a draft preview and review. Another problem is that too many trades take place, and teams are too willing to give up rookies. I aquired kwII for upshaw and a pick!! the weekly prep part of the franchise is cool, but takes so long. I think madden will probably top 2k5, although if you can't come up with the $50 for madden 2k5 is a good alternative.

i'm warming up to it, but i still hate the passing... my brother and i played as teammates for a game, but when i hit the triangle button the WR doesn't put his hands where the ball will be... it is just weird.

the game is incredible for playing with your friends, but for a dynasty, stick with madden. the cpu trading is frustrating, injured players will get cut at the end of preseason(larry fitzgerald in his rookie year), and i hear that drafting is horrible.

Negative.... I think the presentation is cool but the game play really sucks. I feel like Im playing a dressed up GameDay (and I hated GameDay). The players have humps on there backs . In slow mo it looks like a bunch of "ole fokes" playing an over the hill bowl...

Give me Madden any day. I must admit the $20 price tag is tempting but a true Madden Fan would still pass on this one. I played against a friend of mines on his system. Just wasn't feeling it. I am hungry for the some Football, but I'll have to wait until Madden.

Why do the men look funny to me...they don't seem like they're bodies don't look sculpted like the actual players....they look funny to me..But I did buy it to tie me over till madden comes out......It's ok it's kinda hard to get adjusted to the new ways of the joystick....I'm straight Madden been there since the beginning....I admit I did deviate...but I'm such a football nut I had to buy it just to tie me over.....
