As fans of the Redskins I guess I might be answering my own question but I see a lot of fans getting crazy angry if someone says something negative about the Skins. Everybody is not gonna say all good and sweet things about the team or management.
I remember 2 years ago when a lot of the sports writers and even fans said that Steve Spurrier would not make it as a coach in the NFL and that his 'fun n gun would be a bust, many right here on this board and elsewhere went balistic. Maybe looking back on it now, they had a little bit better view than some of us.
People are still knocking on Mr. Snyder. But my question is, has he given them reason to blast him like they do?
Others don't hate this team any more than they do any other team. Sometime I like hearing people bash the Skins. It makes for hostile conversation.
We don't allow anybody to say anything negative about Coach Gibbs and the up and coming season just like we did 2 years ago.
I wonder what we will be saying if we have a 3-5, 2-6 or worse at the halfway point of the season. I don't think it's gonna happen but...
Just some thoughts yall, that's all.
Yall don't kill me for writing this, ok. I love the Skins as well.

If we have a bad start, I'll be disappointed, of course, but here's the difference between Gibbs and Spurrier:
We know Gibbs can succeed in the NFL. In his first year, we started 0-5, only to finish the season missing the playoffs by one game. But as fans, I think we have to support our team no matter what. Come hell or high water, 0-15 or 15-0, I will be out there on that last Sunday giving it my all and screaming at the top of my lungs, supporting my team. I think that's how most fans feel, and I think it's for that reason that we get so upset when the media talks bad about us. We're defending our team and defending our coach or our players, etc. It's this passion for the team that makes us "fanatical".
I don't know if that really answers your question or comment, but that's how I feel about our wonderful team.

My reason for coming to the Redskins rescue boils down to two things.
1.) Its due to all the bad press that we get. Other teams pick up FAs that don't pan out. But its blown out of proportion when it comes to the Redskins. Its the double standard thing for me. I'm tired of it all.
2.) As corny as this may sound...its the truth for myself. The Redskins are like my family so to speak. I can bash them. But if someone else says something bad about the 'Skins, I'll stand up for them. Just like my real family.
Now if there's an article that makes some good points then I don't mind it. But its the same ole rerun articles that reporters use during the offseason is what pisses me off.

Thats exactly what I do. I can talk bad or be worried about something about our team with you guys, but with non-Redskin fans, I defend their decisions and am usually the one getting ganged up on by non-Skin fans. Hopefully this is my year to dish it out. I bet none of my friends will even want to talk to me if we pan out this year.

I feel exactly the same way. Especially in regard to #1, because the Redskins get butchered for "overpaying" in free agency, but EVERYONE overpays in free agency, that's the nature of an open market. The redskins just get ripped for it more than others.

I truly go ballistic when I hear negative comments about the Skins. Especially if its coming from a sports writer, or commentator. Because if they say it, I know I will hear it again from my friends. We've had to defend the Redskins for 11 years now. Even the one year we went to the playoffs. And for me personally, to live among Giant fans, and two of my best friends being cowgirls, yeah, I get a bit heated and a bit emotional. But emotion is the main ingredient of the FAN. If you notice, we also get very emotional when GOOD things are said about the Skins. We will exhalt you for the positive comments just as vigorously as we ballistify you for the negative ones.
(hehe....yeah, I made that word up...) :D

i agree, i thought the same thing...we get slaughtered for supposedly over paying for a guard (randy thomas) or a receiver (coles) or QB (brunell) or running back (portis) but the champ bailey and kearse deals change the standards for the entire league and they dont get butchered like we do, or Dan Snyder in particular. now you got guys like ty law, charles woodson, ogunleye, all sitting out wanting more money...plus, you think parcells wouldnt rather have brunell and portis instead of testeverde and george?
