Mets acquire pitching help

Mets get Kris Benson from the Pirates for Ty Wigginson, Matt Peterson and Jose Bautista.
and
they got Victor Zambrano from the Devil Rays for Scott Kazmir, and Jose Diaz.

Mets gave up a lot, but got a lot in return, but only if Benson re-signs.

I dont why the Mets are doing this: they're six games out of first, they have a ton of competition for the Wild Card(Philles, Giants, Dodgers, Padres & Cubs).

i doubt benson will want to resign with the mets anyways. he'll prolly cross town to go to the yankees. and the bosox can still win the al east, the mets can win the nl east. if the devil rays can pull off 12 straight, so can these teams.

They (Mets) are eternally haunted by the Yankees. Psychologically they had to make some kind of deal to helps themselves, and they got arguably the best pitcher not named Big Unit available, Loaiza included.

They gave up their best pitching prospect for Zambrano? What in the world are they thinking, Kazmir was going to be a star for them. This was just so stupid, I died laughing when the braves announcers reported it.

Benson isn't a bad pickup but he is hardly the greatest pitcher on the face of the earth. We have a guy in Jaret Wright that is better.

I just don't understand them giving away thier future for two guys that aren't going to make a difference in this years race.

The NL East will be won by the braves, marlins, or phillies. As I'm typing this right now the braves are clobbering Benson and the Mets 7-0. They will now be 8 games out. These moves will backfire on them.

Kazmir will be a good pitcher, but he has shown as cause for concern with constant injuries, which might have bothered the mets, causing them to pull the trigger. Zambrano is not garbage, he has great stuff, just needs help controlling it, my mets arent stupid, they are 7 games out of first. but theres one piece of info people forget. IT'S AUGUST, 2 MONTHS LEFT, anything can happen, what happens if benson and zambrano spark the mets on a long win streak, everyone will say how smart they are, and if everyone ends up being right and the mets end up staying where they are, hey, Benson will re-sign, and they'll have a solid rotation for next season, the need to add a bat who can stay healthy, and my mets will finally be back to postseason.

I hate to break it to you but the braves aren't about to blow a 8 game lead? The Mets aren't climbing over 3 teams and making up 8 games at that.

Signing Benson isn't a sure thing either. He isn't all that great of a pitcher anyway, he's decent but he's no star.

On the Kazmir thing, you don't give away your top pitching prospect for at best a 4th or 5th starter. Just look at what we did when we gave up our top pitching prospect. We gave up Wainwright but we got Drew in return, a guy with unlimited potential. If you are going to give up a stud prospect like that, you better get more in return.

And the Mets are done, finished. They aren't making up 8 games, I don't care if there is 2 months to go.
