So how has the big man been doing at training camp? I hear he's competing for H-back and tight end?
Sellers is definitly capable of playing in the NFL and there isn't another fullback in the world I would want on my team right now more than Mike Sellers.
If anyone gets a chance to talk to him at camp remind him he's always welcome back in Winnipeg. :)

While I'm here, I happened to stumble across this old article on Sellers in Washington just now:

Sellers has apparently made a lot fans... i've seen plenty of threads about him...
Haven't heard much about him recently. He was looking good as a possible H-back during mini camp, but since then we've added plenty of competition. I hope he makes the team.

You won't find a better lead blocker for Portis anywhere. He can make plays when he's the one running the ball too (as my sig implies, that's a D-lineman BTW).

I thought I heard or read that he was a little nicked up.

My God another Winnipeg native or are you just stealing our pics Y2C. Sellers is valuable as an H-Back/FB/ and on ST were he killed people in the CFL.

welcome to the site Y2C. the last i heard about big mike was that he had a boot on his foot and was held out of practice for a little, but i saw him at camp yesterday and he ran pretty well.

Better get healthy or he wont even be ont he roster. The h-back role is not going to wait for him.

What I've heard about Sellers had definitely made me root for the guy. I hope he makes it and sees a lot of playing time.

He is injured and as PSF said this is one position that will not wait for him. The guy has undoubted potential but unless he gets fit by the third week of our preseason he is likely too be cut.

Don't think he'll be playing tonight and IF one of the others canidates has a good night then the odds against him making the team are going to start to mount up. ... Too bad, I like the kid.

Sellers will be the H back on opening day. Mark my words.

welcome Y2C. good to hear sellers was impressive in Canada. he is huge and i think he is the fastest option at hback as well. i just wondered how he ended up in canada last year in the first place. i would have thought he could have made some nfl team's roster. there's a lot of fullbacks and tightends in a 32 team league. it's a testament to his stick-to-it-iveness that he would continue his career up there though and never give up.

I think Sellers was kept out of the NFL recently for past drug charges against him. He's played in the NFL before and has had no problems since coming to Winnipeg a couple years ago, the drug stuff is far behind him now. I'm also fairly sure that this is a big part of the reason he may be receiving a small contract in the NFL with little to no guaranteed money.
What is all the talk of "H-back" though? If the 'Skins are going to be runniong a base formation that only has one back in the backfield I've got to believe Clinton Portis is going to be that guy. If Sellers played there I figure they'd bring him in primarily for blocking and he'd get very few carries sharing the ball with Portis.

i think you are the 2nd guy i've seen on this site who has talked about how good sellers was in Canada. welcome here, it's good to have your input. as an hback, sellers will play as a hybrid fullback/tightend. he'll probably have to block, run, catch, and go in motion. sounds like he'll be good on special teams too. dont know how bad his ankle sprain is though, so not sure if he'll play tonight. i dont know if you know it or not, but he played for the Redskins a couple of years ago, then he followed Terry Robiske to Cleveland i believe, before ending up in Canada. i didnt know anything about the drug implications.

Either Sellars has a huge following in the North or he thinks that hailRedskins.com has some sway with the coaches!
Wink! Wink! I am pulling for you big guy!
I hope he has a big year. I am also pulling for Cooley. No reason we can't have two big guys.

Ah, so it will usually be Portis in the backfield with an 'H-back' either in at fullback or moving up and playing tight end. Is this accurate?
I sure hope Sellers is able to play tonight. They're showing the game here on TV and it would be great to see the big fella in action again. :banger:
