No word yet on whether Boselli is interested in coming out of retirement but he would definately save the season. Does anyone think this is a good idea.

I would do this in a SECOND. He's had a couple years to recover. Get him on a one or two year deal.

I agree. Donnie Warren on Comcast that Gibbs would most likely make some sort of deal to fill Jansen's spot for now. I think Boselli could be a good quick fix.

my initial thought was....god lord, why? didnt he leave with chronic shoulder issues? if he is fully healed and just out of shape, sure it would be a very good move IMO.

He retired because of a bad shoulder. I doubt if he has been getting it back in football shape and strength the past two seasons. I'd rather go with what we got.

i hate be obsessive but why does the redskins homepage say this:
he Redskins defeated the Denver Broncos 20-17 in Monday's Hall of Fame Game, thanks to a 39-yard field goal by little-known kicker Ola Kimrin with three second left. Joe Gibbs returned to the sidelines, but the Redskins suffered a blow when right tackle Jon Jansen suffered a ruptured left Achilles. Officials stressed it is premature to call it a season-ending injury.
are the redskins officials just in denial or what? if its ruptured, its pretty much a given that he is done for the season. whats the deal......

I dunno, 50% of Tony Boselli would be better than most O-Tackles in the league. And better than what we have. Let's see if he's healthy, in shape and interested.

I don't think this will go down. Boselli is happy down here in Austin as a partial owner of our new arena team. I don't like the idea anyway. In football injuries happen. They can be tough to deal with but that is the nature of the sport. The Pats weren't happy about Colvin last year, but over came the issue. The Redskins will do the same.

It worked for the Ravens with Orlando Brown, but I think I think they brouhg him in earlier and continuety is huge on the offensive line. Even though Boselli is a seasoned vet, they'll need to do this fast so the starters have enough time to jel.

They did a good job of building depth along the O-line in the offseason. Jansen is extremly tough to replace(obviously), but their are others with experience who can fill in for now. Terrell is a 7 year vet, and we all know that Winey faired well last year filling in for Samuels. The two rookies need some time, but one of them may progress quickly and get to play. This is why we got Gibbs, cuz he will figure it out.

but orlando brown didnt retire. he just didnt play because he had an eye injury. he knew all along that he was going to try and make a comeback. i know if tony boselli can say the same. there is truly no point in talking about this sense the whole tony boselli thing seems to be bogus......

Players are going down all around the NFL. Miami lost two important starters, while not as serious Kearse injured himself this weekend, the Titans lost a LB for the season. Losing Jansen is a big blow just like losing Noble last year was. It means Jones, Winey, Wilson, Dockery, Samuels, Thomas, Molinaro, Friedmann and Raymer will have to step it up.

i know we arent going to leave the offensive like as-is with Thomas and Jansen injured, meaning our whole right side is a weakness. Trading or free agents sound like the best route to go. Maybe if the Cardinals do release that one tackle we should pick him up if Boselli stays retired.

i think it just means that they'l wait and see how is recovery is going before deciding to place him on IR... this is one of the biggest losses we could have taken and i am deeply troubled. everything was going so well... i think i just need a day to be down and then we'll just have to rally around <<insert name here>> and play good football.

I hvae seen no such mention at all. Not gonna happen. I think Buges is going to look at two people to fill the void...kenyatta Jones or Derrick Dockery. Fortunately with the versatility of Jones, Dockery,a nd Friedman, we are free to move around in a flexible manner.

I've got no objection to talking to Boselli, but if he's our best option at right tackle right now, we're in a hell of a lot of trouble.

MANNNNNN - Would everyone come to their SENSES. I really think some of you are losing it. We are suppost to be "Smart" fans. ..... Jansen is a major lost but Gibbs&Co will deal with it. Look inside first and IF we don't have enough, seek help from the outside by watching the wavier wire .... BUT BOSSELLI - the man was force out of football because he couldn't phyically COULD NOT play no more. Two years DIDN'T heal him to being able to come back. Geeezzzz. AND to person(s) who keep starting these rumors - Go BACK to your own teams board. Don't have to be mad with us because they cut your starting QB (just an assumption on my part).

I think you are talkng about LJ Shelton. Now that the Cards know our desperation, it may take a middle round draft choice to get him. Shelton would seem to be a much better solution than Boscelli (even if there is any truth to that rumor).

So was Jacoby. But he went to RT when we got Lachey. He even played RT in the '91 Superbowl. I think it would be a heck of a lot easier to play RT as part of a comeback for one of the best LTs ever than to try and regain LT form this year.

I think we have enough depth to handle this situation. I'd still bring someone in but it wouldn't be Boselli. Move either Dockery or go with Kenyatta or Wilson. No matter who it is, they will always have help in passing situations with a tight end of h-back helping.

Really? Maybe its just another set of eyes, but I thought he seemed to be a step behind where he should've been on every play. I was just chalking it up to "adjusting to the speed" of the NFL thing.
Hmmm, maybe I'll give him an isolated look tonight. Like the geek that I am, I recorded the game so I could evaluate players all week until the Saturday's game. :)

The good ole hR doom and gloom!
Relax. Losing Jansen is hurtful, and painful for us fans, but he will be replaced, and liek Patrick said in an ealrier post, there is no other person I would want to deal with this than Joe Bugel. With Bugel at the helm of this situation, i feel pretty damn comfortable.
chrisbcbu
08-10-2004, 12:36 PM
Kenyatta played 13 games at RT 2 years ago..so i think he is more than capable to fill the hole. Bugel will also work with M. Wilson for the backup position for the RT spot. We will be more than fine at the position.
We wont be great but we will be fine!

While losing Jansen hurts
1. Gibbs will give help to whoever ends up playing RT. He'll have a TE nearby and will move the pocket vs the Michael Strahans of the league.
2. I always thought the Gibbskins functioned best with a backs-to-the-wall mentality.
Was there ever a season during the glory years where we had a fully intact line?

Friends,
Occassionally people from different teams will go to opposing teams fan boards and post made up information just to sit and watch the fans get all freaky about it and post 100 pages about this supposedly "new" info. This is clearly what happened here since no link was (or has been ) provided.
The hard part is us not giving these types of people the satisfaction they seek.
