yeah... i was trying to watch one of them really cool movies, you know, the cool ones and all of a sudden it says read disk error. I hadn't touched my PS2 in like 8 months so I didnt know if a rat went in there and did something nasty or what. So i bought madden (its on a DVD) and it works fine. So now I'm just trying to figure out what the frig this read disc error is about. Seriously, I'm about to bust out some voodoo to bring back my PS2s movie playing abilities... you can only play Madden for so long.

go on gamefaqs.com then go under ps2 hardware FAQs and read one of the Disk Read Error FAQs and you might need to clean the laser. If you need to adjust the voltage, well, u might need to just call it quits and send it to sony before attempting to fix it yourself. I tried that last night and I think I did more damage athan before.

After putting up with the disc read error for about a year (I could only play DVD rom games and some DVDs, no blue back or ps1 games) I finally took my PS2 apart and cleaned the lens a couple weeks ago and it works fine now. Just clean it with a wet q tip.

think one of those actualy CD CD cleaners (you know, the one thats a CD but has those bristles to clean the leans) would work or do i have to take it apart? I mean id probably have no problem with it since i build comps all the time but time is money

I used a cleaner that said on the case that it was for cd players dvd players and video game systems, it didn't to squat. Its very simple to take it apart and clean the lens, I had no problems.
