Washington Post article. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13313-2004Aug18.html)
It did not take Taylor long to pick up a nickname, either. He looks like a linebacker in the secondary, hulking over the field. With his long legs and wide arms span he covers substantial ground.
"His nickname is 'Swoop,' " Jackson said, "because he comes down like a hawk out of the air and just swoops down."
So what's up? Do we agree/disagree? I think it's cool.

I think it defines him well, like when he made that touchdown against the broncos,he just swooped out of nowhere

Swoop sounds cool, I just hope we're not getting ahead of ourselves with nicknames. My preference for all of these would be to establish ourselves as the dominant NFC team, then let the nicknames come! Boy will we look stupid if we crash and burn.
Did I just say that??!! :banghead:

man, with a name like that its just a matter of time before he gets endorsed by nike and gets on those CG commercials with Vick and TO... hopefully picking off a pick intended for TO and then leveling Vick for getting in his way :)

twice is persistant? Swoop is hardly an intimidating nickname though. And I posted that link y'all wanted to see in the "Those Wacky Germans" thread.
Hey, if it helps him to make better plays, more power to ya!!!

it's also from WNBA C. Swoopes. Swoop sounds more like when Smoot's having a bad day.

Swoop is all right. It reminds me of the "dinobots" from the Transformers. Remember that cartoon, anyone? Swoop was the ptreydactyl-like dinobot. That show kicked a**..... sorry my mind is all over the place tonite:>

I like it you could always have the big screens at FED EX go "SWOOP, there it is [goes]" or something to that effect after and int for a TD

I was thinking the same thing but thankfully taylor is smarter than a dinobot.
(my take on rayolor by the way is that he was smart enough to know that holding out is really bad for everyone and fired rosenhaus because he wanted an agent that wouldn't encourage him to hold out. He got the new guys, got a deal--which doesn't matter much anyway cause once he's a star he'll renegotiatte (think portis) then fired them because they were splitting up anyway to take on a different job and he can go back to rosenhaus because holding out is no longer an issue. None of this was to be made public cause he can't say he fired rosenhaus cause rosenahus wanted him to holdout because that would hurt rosenhaus and he didn't want to announce what was happening with mato before the announcement of the guys new job.
As for the rookie thing--when you have a multimillion contract who cares about $25,000. If he had personal stuff that he didn't want thrown away or if he needed to help a friend or whatever then he made a choice and I believe the right one.
So Swoop is good. I still want something better than dirtbags though.

Taylor made for a Nike contract ...
isn't the Nike logo generally referred to as the "Swoop?"

I like it...and I'll bet Smoot had something to do with the name, since he has taken Taylor "under his wing".
I'll bet Smoot wants to start promoting the "Smoot and Swoop" show...coming to a stadium near you.

I like the nickname. It fits with his type of play so far.
However my all time favorite nickname for a safety is Jack "The Assissin"Tatum from the old Oakland Raider teams in the 70s.Now that guy could/would hit anybody trying to catch a pass in his area of the field.:Peace:

Honestly, I don't like it... I was expecting a little more intimidating or nothing at all. I don't think "Swoop", gives justice to Taylor's kind of playing. As somebody else said, it sounds like "Smooooot" in a bad day.

It was Tatum. It was a legal hit with a very bad result. It is an unfortunate down side to the game but it is a chance every football player is willing to take when they step onto the field. On a different note to bad Tatum/Butch Atkinson never got to play with both of those CBs that would have been one hell of a secondary. :Peace:

The grammar flag is being revived for this sorry excuse for a speaker of the english language. Multiple flags: 15 yards each. The player is thrown out of the game.

Definitely need to straighten out the forums from all the grammar clutter and rubble.. just as we need mom's rolling pin to settle people down, we also need your grammar flag to settle our eyes from crossing up now that we have all these new and old members coming back.
p.s. 5 yard grammar flag for "siince" :D
