Am I the only one who thinks Iffy was one of the worst safeties in the league. He constantly got beat deep last year and don't get me started about his goal line or red zone defense. He was pathetic and could not play desiplined defense. When teams got down to the red zone all they had to do is run any misdirection play and he was beat. Then he gets burnt in preseason games by third and fourth stringers. All I can say is good riddings! :weak: Please share your opinions on this.

I am surprised he was released, but I didn't think he would be a starter after Taylor was drafted. I knew Bowen was/is a better SS. The coaches have backed me up on that one.

No way was Ohalete one of the worst safeties in the NFL last year. He's about average.

agreed. However, Iffy has zero room to bitch and moan, they had a chance to get a possibly game-changing Safety. His attitude should have been better, he was a UFA after the season. I always thought he was out of position, he was playing Free Safety, but he's really a Strong Safety.

I agree with that, and yes, I was a little surprised.

Worst Safety? Of that I am not sure but I have two words for you: Ade Jimoh. Can we please cut this man right now! I understand we need bodies in camp and that there are injuries in the secondary right now but please, please cut this man now! He is one big loaf of burnt toast.
Other than that, have a nice day :)

Welcome! I think fans are more surprised over the reported attitude that he copped more so than the mans true talent level! Sure he's not great, no one ever said he was going to be being an undrafted guy off the street! I have a hard time bitching about a hardnosed gritty player like that! Think last year he played as good as he could, his stats back that up. I bitch and moan when the imagined superstars fail and don't look like they came to play. Honestly don't think Bowen is exactly a prize either seeing he was more impressive in the Packs playoff game than at any point here. The kid Taylor better be the second coming of Kenny!!!!

Definitely, I agree with you. I keep hearing that he lost his job because of Taylor....but last time I checked, Taylor was off playing FS and Iffy and Bowen were competing at SS. Matt Bowen has yet to prove that he is a capable starter in the NFL; if Iffy was an 'average' NFL starting SS, I think he would be at least in a dead heat with Bowen for that job, if not slightly ahead of him.

His stats back it up? Sure he was third in the team in tackles, but as bad as the D-Line was last year he should have had 200. I just got tired of seeing him run himself out of plays and seeing the back of his jersey chasing down recievers. That is probably how he got half of his tackles anyway. Chasing down the recievers that burnt him.

I wont miss him becuase we have sean taylor, but i thought he was good while he was here. He wont have much playing time in arizona, with dexter jackson there.
I think hes in the top 40 safeties (free and strong)with a couple worse people being andre lott,or david terrell :)

here's how i see Iffy...he beats out sam shade because shade was old and wasnt good enough. iffy got the job by default there, the process of elimination, the lesser of 2 evils but still a weakness. then bowen was brought in as an upgrade, but david terrel was still bad at free safety so iffy still hangs around. then he starts at one of the weakest positions on a poorly coached team in the spurrier regime. he gets 100 tackles because the dline couldnt stop the run so someone had to. not a good sign when the free safety is 3rd on the team in tackles with over 100, but it sounds like an impressive stat... i believe starting went to his head so he lets his RFA offer sit on the table, though no other team bites on it even when there's no compensation required since he was undrafted. finally he signs it and gets all disgruntled when we upgrade again with taylor. this situation was festering for a while until he finally got left behind.

I believe it was attitude pure and simple. I mean, yeah, he wasn't the greatest guy physically but he just didn't buy into the system. How can you not buy into a system that features Gibbs, a hall a famer, and williams, a coach who had the #2 defense. I think it's because Williams systems stresses speed which wasn't Iffy's strongest point. I'm just glad he's not going to a nfc east rival. I didn't want him spilling all the beans on what's going on behind closed doors in practice. I think that's another reason they let him go early and made it look like it was for his benifit. That way he leaves with minimal hard feelings and less vengeance in his heart.

I agree, he got the starting job by default. I thought he played pretty well, though, and certainly wasn't the weakest part of our defense last year. Another thing that sealed his fate was that Andre Lott and Todd Franz have a couple years under their belts now, and have moved up the ladder.

Yeah, tackles is not a telling stat for DBs, since you can't discern why or where they are getting those tackles. A DB who gets picked and/or plays behind a weak front 7 can easily register as many, if not more, tackles than a DB who can fly to the line and help stop running plays at the line of scrimmage. I think Redwolf's analysis is right on.

Sucks for IFFY. I would hate to play for Arizona unless I was on offense.

I fully believe that, had Iffy had the proper attitude, he not only would have started at SS this year, but turned into one of the better safeties in the league with another couple seasons of playing. Sadly, his attitude did him in.

I was surprised he was cut. I think it is the right move, especially if he can't see eye to eye with one of the league's best D-Coordinators.
I was mainly surprised, because I didn't think Lott and Franz were any better. Having attended training camp a few times, I have noticed Lott making siginificant plays. Franz seemed to be a decent ST player. But neither seemed any better or on par with Iffy.
Overall, Williams knows these guys 100 times better than we do. So I won't second guess his decision at all.

you could say that about the defense as a whole last year. i wouldnt say that he was one of the worst, but like most have said, just average.
btw.....:welcome: to hR skinsalot.

Probably not, but he sure looked like the worst one in Redskin camp this year, and that is all that really matters. :Peace:

remember the tampa bay game last year? yea - the one in which dirt slow keyshawn absolutely burned iffy? it happened ALL THE TIME against him. yea - he had a billion tackles and a few ints, but thats what happens when you play safety... i'm glad the bum is gone. he was a "true" redskin that gave it his all and loved the team, but that matters none when you have absolutely no game vision. bye, iffy.
