That is what he is: Look at his behavior.. agents - treat them like dirt, media -treat me bad get in my business- I punish, ball carrier-punish. "I ain't no second place guy". This person expects to be above all others and will compete and operate to be that way. He kisses no ass.

All this pre-season stuff is just the should be expected behaivior from a young swoopy freak we want to rip peoples heads off and instill fear. Look out Keyshawn, look out Terrell the swoooooooop is coming!

I like this attitude in a safety. Prayers answered. Goodby Wiffy, Bowen step it up my man.

Ladies and Gentleman: We have a certifiable beast in our defensive backfield.

This is going to be fun.

The attitude of "I am not a 2nd place player" is a great one and one I think all players coming out of Miami develop and that is why so many get drafted. If a team was smart they would just draft Miami players and build a team of winning machines.

I think that are major problem last year is that people began to except losing. We saw that LaVar finally snapped after the Buffalo game and now we have another superstar that won't lose I hope it rickles down to everyone and we get a SWAGGER back.

"He means well," Portis said. "His teammates love being around him."

"He's in a new environment and he's shied away from some people. He doesn't know what people are around for. He's just learning. He's never been away from Miami, and now all of a sudden he moved to Washington, D.C., and he's a millionaire. He's just feeling his way through."

2 years ago he was a teenager. it'a amazing how young he is. now he's away from home in a big city and he's a millionaire. this is a great situation for him to have portis and others kind of take him under their wing. williams is going to bring along slowly. it's perfect for his career. he's bigger, taller and faster than ed reed and roy williams. he could be defensive rookie of the year, could be the best safety in the league, and as such i wouldnt count him out of the probowl either.

exactly!

from the same article...

Redskins teammates and coaches say that Taylor is an amiable person who works hard in practice. "He's quiet, but he's also fun-loving behind the scenes," Williams said. "Guys like talking to him. But he's quiet and rookies should be quiet. He's got to prove himself before he talks."

When our regular season came to a close last january, I became obsessed with the draft. I starting studying mock drafts and late round prospects almost every day. Every time I would read about Sean Taylor I would get excited. Many mock drafts had us taking him at the 5 spot and I made sure to research this guy. Terms and phrases I kept hearing when reading various reports on him were:freak, fast, hard-hitting, ballhawk, and most importantly the best defensive and perhaps the best overall player in this years draft. With our offense stacked at that point( we had gotten Portis, Brunell, etc. already), I knew we had to pick Taylor. He filled a need and would definitely be the best player available.
There was a lot of speculation that we would take Winslow, but I knew our coaches would pick wiser. Now had we not made all those offseason moves, Winlsow may have not been a bad choice, but we were in desperate need of defense. I remember my brother and I jumping up and down after he was selected because we knew what kind of player he was. I hope he continues to play hard like he has so far.

i predict teams will have to gameplan for him and change their routes to avoid him or they will be losing receivers to injuries from these clean hits he's dishing out. taylor has made game changing plays in each game, in very limited action. he probably has not played an entire game worth of minutes, yet he's piling up stats that should send him to the probowl. not to mention washington, they will need to account for him too. he's the closest thing to lawrence taylor i've seen in a while, on consecutive plays making a tackle, then a sack, then a pass broken up with a brutal hit. add arrington to the mix and those guys are going to be all over the place.

So Sean Taylor has played the equivalent of about 4 quarters of football so far in 4 games and he has 3 picks and 2 forced fumbles. To me, that is just incredible. I dont remember ever seeing a rookie make such an immediate impact. And he is the youngest guy on the team! Even just making a tackle, you notice the guy.

How many picks do you see this guy having this year? I'm thinking he gets double-digits with a couple TD's.

I noticed that no one seems to talking about the two plays last night that he looked far from the world beater that many of you claim him to be.

He let Smoot down on that long pass to Holt to the 1yd line, and he bit about as much as you could on that reverse/pass by Bruce.

The rams beat him on that long pass to Holt (I think), but he learned later on and picked up that pass. I think that was what GregW was talking about Sean Taylor, he didn't want him to get very confident coming the regular season... he wanted ST to get beat in the preseason... well, he just was. And he learned quickly from it.

IMALILTEAPOT

It's debatable whether he is learning or not. Yeah, he made that INT, but that appeared to be his natural abiltity that made that play, not anything special that he may have learned. He was on the other side of the field and he looked to have made a great read on that play in particular.

What makes it debatable to me is the fact that Williams has stated several times now that he has been beat deep regularly in practice, mentioning not respecting NFL speed and doing things that experienced NFL QBs will make him pay for. He bit on the crossing route instead of staying with his assignment, which was to give Smoot inside contain help on Holt. Bulger noticed this, and as Williams stated, an experienced NFL QB made him pay.

Yeah, I agree.... but now he respects NFL speed more than before. I think we must all agree that he is taking huge steps for a rookie. He's clearly not the best safety in the NFL right now, but he is on the right way. If we continue to hear that thing about him getting beat in practice, then it will be something to worry about. He missed that lesson, now he took it. He was matched against one of the best 3 WR's in the league.

Hopefully he is taking notes, and just not relying on ability. As you said earlier, I'm glad that it happened last night also. Sometimes you don't respect the lessons taught to you when they are coming from within your own family. It takes an outside source to help drive them home.

You couldn't have put it a better way.... (family, outsiders) Hopefully he is taking notes, and I believe he is. He is driven to be the best. He understimated the NFL WR's against Coles, Gardner, DMac, etc., but not anymore... I hope.

sean taylor will make plenty of plays. one thing people might overlook is that he is always trying to cause the turnover. i dunno if anybody else noticed, but last night on one of his tackles against stephen jackson i believe, he was trying to strip the ball. thats the kinda play i want to see.

He is a rookie and every rookie goes through a learning process at this level.
With him getting burned at practice is a great place for it to happen. So far his big plays have out wieghed the ones he has given up.I dont care who the DB is in the N.F.L. they will be burned by an offense. It is how they play after getting burned. The kid is making big plays against our opponents EVERY week and that is what matters the most.He is getting better and better as each game comes along and that is what I am most impressed with.Right now he is relying on his athletic ability like every single rookie has ever done.Once he KNOWS what he is doing he could be something very special.IMHO he is better than I thought he was going to be at this stage of his career of 5 long weeks. They drafted him to be the starter on opening day and unless something bad happens to him it sure looks like he has EARNED his spot. :Peace:

Youre so right and that's the point. He's the best FS we have. He's a rookie who will make some rookie mistakes and get burned.

But he's also going to increasingly make great hits, cause fumble's or have some interceptions that will have the league talking - he'll be a player who is exciting to watch.
