Fox 5 just reported that Lavar had an ACL injury. They didn't give any other details. Is this just a sprained knee that Kiem reported or something more? I just jumped online and saw the sprained knee thread but this was just reported at halftime of the Giants game.

OK. Thanks Smoot. I just turned on the game and freaked out. I had not been online yet and when they said ACL, I started to go crazy! They didn't give any other details other than he would miss this week's game. I immediately jumped on here to see what the scoop was. I feel better now.

What would happen to the Redskins if Arrington did go down and our defense was better? A lot of people here and at other MBs have their doubts about Arrington and think he's overpaid.
That could be disasterious...IMO

i wouldnt worry too much. it is a sprain and he apparently will resume practicing on monday.
carmike. thats a good point, but it aint gonna happen. LA's backup is pierce and he isnt as good as lavar. i know its a what if question, but i just dont see that.
ibtw, i think he is overpaid right now....:D.

Well I'm sure not one of those people.
Lavar is a GREAT linebacker, who has been to the probowl for 3 of his 4 seasons in the league. He has excelled at EVERY major objective his defensive coordinator has asked of him. His closing speed is at its highest for his position.
This team can't be any better without Lavar. Plain and simple.

I agree dj. And I really can't wait to see how he plays playing weakside, his position in college.
He won't have to worry about covering a TE. He will be able to rush the QB and make plays on the edge and in the backfield.

CarMike, I'll ask the question I've been pondering as a followup...what happens to Lavar's game if Taylor starts to become the star of this defense. Lavar tends to put himself out of position by over pursuing at times, I wonder if he became second fiddle if his game might improve even more?

BW- thats a good point. i think if Lavar sees sean step up and become great, then he probably would figure that he cant let a rookie show him up. but i hope that the constant losing and a self analysis would be the true reason for improve for LA. it seems as if lavar loves sean like a brother and he wouldnt mind seeing him become another piece of the puzzle.

LaVar is a freak and would definitely be sorely missed if he was not there. I agree, in that he really needs to get rid of all the lame on-field mistakes he's made in the past; however, he is still a dominant force. Teams that play us gameplan around him and thats a fact.
I started a thread a while ago where I said that LaVar really needs to step it up this season and finally maximize his potential. I'm a fan of LaVar, but I said I wouldn't cut him any more slack . I still mean that, but to suggest we could be better without him is just foolish.

Tyer expects Arrington to be back on the field for Monday's practice, and the rest over the weekend is a precaution. The team is not scheduled to practice today before flying to Miami, so yesterday was the last opportunity for players with minor injuries to gauge their ability to play under such conditions.
"It's day-to-day; as the days go, so shall I," Arrington said. "It's preseason. I don't want to risk making it worse than it is."
and Gibbs broke camp a week early allowing the players to go home instead of the conference center.

Precautionary, good for our backups.

I say we hold him out of the rest of the pre-season games. We need him to be 100% by week 1. And healthy the rest of the season.

And hopefully the "LaVar Leap" will make its return. He'll be fine, he'd probably be playing through it if this were the regular season.

I remember his rookie season when he tried to do the "LaVar Leap" and landed on his face. I don't think he's tried it since.

That would be too much to handle, indeed.

i know he needs to be consistent, but if he could time it right, and do the lavar leap and stuff a play behind the line, it would be awesome. i've actually been hoping to see it for 4 years.

...This is exactly why you should never, EVER trust news from Fox 5 - without a doubt, the national enquirer of DC area local news. :)

What would happend Lavar went down would remain to be seen. But the fact that he has been moved to WLB would lessen the impact of that scenario, IMO. The key to the LB play this season is Marcus Washington, IMO.
If we had not signed MW in the offseason and we were talking about an ACL injury to Lavar, then that would be really bad.
