Should the skins sign an old guy like that? Hugh Douglass might also be released by Jacksonville. Do you think these guys have anything left to give to the Skins, they must be better than Wynn and Upshaw.

I think any experienced depth to our d-line is a good acquisition. I think Hugh Douglas has a few years left in his tank, not sure about ol' Brackens though. I would rather go for Ogunleye; which is currently being discussed here:

No way in hell Jacksonville will be getting rid of Brackens and Douglas....it just isnt gonna happen. But if they do we will be the first in line......

Am I starting crap again, I mean Brackens WAS released by JAX in the offseason and resigned after he got little interest. He will probably be released again since his knees are stiff hurt.

Maybe not the best guy to pick up, here is a more up to date article (from yesterday):
Tony Brackens is expected to be waived because he's still sidelined.

They won't release Hugh, since Brackens is out and their 3rd round pick, a DE, is now out for the year.

Thanks Portis=MVP.

But, IMO...there's a reason why they're getting released....

If we signed Brackens as a low-cost End, I think it could only add depth to the currect position right now...let's face it: Renaldo Wynn isn't going to Hawaii in this lifetime, and Upshaw is lucky to see the quarterback, let alone touch him. Sign him for a year at low cost to us, let him play. We could get a real gem, and if not, no big loss. They will never let go of Hugh, however. He's been working night in and night out to be better because he reported that last year was an off-season and he needs to be get back on track. If they did release him, and there is a small chance that they will because they already lack enough at the defensive end position, he would be a solid pickup and adds more speed which we desperately need at the end position. Just my 2 cents.

Since he is being released because of injury, I'm passing. If he was healthy, I'd consider it, but we don't need more injuries on this team.

from june 1st, 2004:
Brackens was on the field today in an observer's role, after having signed a one-year contract with the team this morning...
“We're happy to have Tony back. I'm sure he's glad to be back with the team. He still has some work to do, as far as his legs, and the best chance to do that is to be here with the team,” Del Rio added.
is there some newer development than this? sounds like he's with the Jaguars.
sounds like if he gets released it'll be because he cant play at all.

Why are we so interested in players who are way past their prime? This is not 2000 and we just got rid of Bruce Smith.

Ok, so the Jags are going to realease him AND are worried o=about having nobody to rush the passer. Yet we want him to rush the passer? What am I missing??

Tony Brackens will be injured approximately 11 minutes after some team signs him to a contract.

Exactly. There is a reason he was cut. He can't stay healthy at all.

Brackens wont be that bad as a third down end or a backup if hes cheap enough

The nfl should make Deion play for us after he scandoozled us out of that money a few years ago....

No thanks. I'd rather see them develop the young guys on the roster (Greg White, Ron Warner, Nic Clemons, Demetric Evans, Darrell Wright) than pick up these old dudes with bad knees.

Bostic said the Redskins will likely be looking to the waiver wire for DL depth. Is Brackens a possibility?

thats cool.

Afer reading some articles on him, he seems more banged up then I thought. Maybe he could be a pass rushing specialist, but I'm not sure he has enough speed anymore.

Not worth it especially with the way that people have been playing.

Why are we so interested in players who are way past their prime? This is not 2000 and we just got rid of Bruce Smith.Good point.Bruce never did make it to the level he played at in Buffalo, but he always seemed to be in the vicinity of the QB.We need to get younger, faster, and stronger.

i think not. they just signed him in june and they lost their DE draft pick to injury recently. if Brackens could play they'd keep him.

if we grab him he will not make much money...i think we could use the depth though..if we dont i dont care, gibbs will make the right decisions

I think if he can come in for the vet min lets pick him up. Otherwise pass.
