Big game for all you VTech fans here at hR this coming weekend, playing the defending co-national champions in primetime in the Kickoff Classic (I know it's got a new name now, but it's always the Kickoff Classic). What are you expecting in terms of a score? I think Tech is better off with just Randall at QB and no controversy with Vick, but do you give yourselves a shot on knocking off the preseason #1?

I'm taking VaTech .......................... +30 points.

No team has much of a chance against USC this season but if V-Tech keep it close they might still get some love for the polls. The best way to do that is to expose their secondary which has one good player now (Darnell Bing) but V-Tech can't do that. Only thing they have going for them is they can match USC's speed on offense and their offensive line has the size to compete with USC's undersized front 4. I'm taking USC by 10.

I don't think we will win, but I certainly don't expect a blowout.
Imho, USC by 7-10.

There's a classic case of a pathetic excuse for a linesman gift wrapping a win for a team that by means deserves it. Once again the top teams are being protected by gutless doormat referies who don't deserve to be watching the game at home...not like they can see anything anyway.

It was a great game up until that blown pass interference call. Regardless of the outcome I am proud of my Hokies. They came out fighting when it seemed that everyone was busy kissing USC's ass, and the definately had some chances to win the game. At times the lack of experienced wide receivers was glaring, they weren't catching ****.
However I did gain some confidence by watching the game. If we play like this against UVA, UMD, and WVU, we definately have a chance of winning at home. I will give up the Miami game because we never win in Miami, but other than those 4 games our schedule is pretty easy. This season VT will be playing the spoiler/underdog, and I am perfectly happy with that.
No, on paper Tech will not be the juggernaut of years before, but you are mistaken if you think a highly ranked team can just walk in and take a game. At least not in our house.
ADMIN EDIT: Please watch the profanity.

I saw several missed calls last night. I, for a change, agree with BigCountry. ;)
these refs didn't deserve to be watching the game at home. Much less be officiating the game.
Horrible!

Hey funnyperson1...
How was the crowd at Fed Ex? It looked like a VERY LOUD sell out, and I'll bet it is the loudest that stadium has been in years.

It was a good game..... That was a bad call but you have figured that Virginia Tech would have started to put someone on Reggie Bush by the 4th quater

I wasn't there sadly, but from other Hokies/Skin fans I have heard that the place was rocking, from someone on Extremeskins "It was the loudest fedEx field has ever been."
Sorry admin, I was a bit upset last night, and I thought we had auto-censor here.

Wow. Refs blow everything, and Randall dominated in the first half. I am proud of my team and how they played, but that LB (Warren I think) sucked so much. Two of Bush's three TDs were his fault. First one: He missed that key tackle to stop him. Last one: He tripped up as he was supposed to be covering him.
Randall is making a name for himself, and I think he might just have a shot at playing in the NFL if he keeps it up. I still think the only QB in the NCAA thats a better scrambler is Brad Smith. But hey, maybe he could pull a Woody Dantzler and play HB???
Go Hokies.

This just hit me.
I wasn't at the USC/Tech game, so I don't know how loud it was, but I would ask anyone that was at the playoff game against the Lions was it louder then that game? For those that may have forgotten, that crowd rocked from kickoff to the final gun.

Actually it's not the same as the Kickoff Classic. The BCA Classic has been going on for a few years and even when there wa still a KO Classic. I think last year was the last year of the real KO Classic which was always held at the Meadowlands.

I didn't know that. I used to go to the Meadowlands as a kid for the Classic because in our neck of the woods it was the only college football action going on (I guess Rutgers' games were always a possibility), but don't remember the BCA Classic. Thanks for the info, sorry about the mistake.

I am with funnyperson and am very pleased with my Hokies performance last week. Hopefully we quieted some of those skeptics questioning our addition to the ACC and whether or not we made the conference stronger or weaker.
I went into this game hoping for a good game, but expecting the worst. Coming out of halftime with a lead though made me get more into it than I could have imagined. After the bad call, I was truly angry. We seriously had a shot to win and that play (followed by the facemask to Randall on the following play that wasn't called) reversed the momentum entirely.
Regardless, we fought hard and I was impressed by a team that I didn't have great expectations for this season. Here's to hoping they continue to play that hard. If they do, I don't think any other team we play (save Miami) would have a chance against us. However, we tend to fall apart at some point in the season no matter what.
The difference in that game was that they had 2 more big plays than us. One being the bad call that would have evened it out. Course, 1 more big play is all that it takes to win a game.
Nonetheless, at least Hokie fans have something to be excited about!

I couldn't find a way to be happy after that game but Vince Hall, Xavier Adibi and Noland Burchette made me feel better. One of the next 2 or 3 seasons could finally be the Hokies season if Marcus Vick comes along.

Yeah, I was really impressed by Adibi, he was all over the place. Losing him will hurt us this season.
The only thing that makes me the least bit optimistic about this season is that most of the crucial games (UVA, UMD, WVU) are at home. I doubt we will beat Miami in Miami, but other than that we have very winnable games.

Adibi is out for the season?

Well he should be out for most of it at least. A torn muscle isn't easy to recover from.
