Now don't get me wrong, I am as big a Skins fan as anyone here, but I gotta say something...every time a sportswriter so much as sneezes in the general direction of the Redskins most people on this site make fun of everything from their family to their eating habits. Would you prefer that everyone picks the Skins to go 16-0 and win the Super Bowl? Or have everyone say that they will struggle to win 8-9 games and have the chance to prove the world wrong? I prefer the latter, and I bet everyone in the Skins organization does as well. Just my two cents...

I think its just a lot of pent-up aggression from the repeated years of skins bashing that has made us all bitter. It seems every team gets there time to shine and all of the sudden the sports casters love them but even the season the skins went to the playoffs (in recent years after the first gibbs tenure) they still got no respect.

When we win, the negative writers will go quiet.

Up to now, the team has done little each season except generate huge amounts of smoke, noise and hot air in the off-season, then fold up when the real games start.

Some writers do not like Snyder, which colors their reports on the 'skins.

i am ok with a negative article as long as it can be based on fact and the writer can put together a thought while avoiding obvious bias.

I could care less about writer's opinions be it negative or positive. The only thing that gets my goat is when I here the term "On Paper" bantied about.
Like "On Paper" the skins are the best team in the east.
What the heck does that mean? Does that mean they suck on gravel? How are they on turf or grass? And what about water? I mean how they play on water must really tell the story.
The bottom line is you don't play football on paper! (Unless you're playing that kids game with the dashed lines and you have to close your eyes and draw a line to the end zone without touching one of the dashes.)
Sorry, to get off on a tangent. For some reason that always pissed me off.

We need to put together a winning season before we shut up the critics. I think Danny made a smart move by bringing Gibbs back, but now it's up to him and the other coaches to put a quality team on the field and win games!!!

Problem is, most writers around the Washington/Metro area feel they are justified to write articles based on opinion (theirs). And I guess what bothers me the most about that is - usually these are people who have NEVER played the game.

:welcome: ttr77 !

True sports writers know the game, the teams, the players and the coaches. It is rare that some of these hack writers ever get close enough to establish any kind of relationship. That said, I appreciate a writer whose candor is prominent enough to expose both the pro's and con's of our Beloved Team and yet enthusiastic enough to temper his/her own emotional involvement. I want a writer who can eliminate the "I" in the article. I think I am a good fan who can interepret the facts without a hack writer interjecting personal bias.

I'd rather have them the way they are. It pisses me off, makes for good posts on hR.com, and frankly everyone likes an underdog. I hope we make some sportswriters look downright silly this year.

It's not about the record they predict, it's about how they think its obvious that we'll struggle, and then state false fact to back it up. I respect real writers who make predictions on our team, whether I agree with them or not.

with the exception of guys like lenny p, peter queen, dr.z and the other writers that hate the redskins, id rather have people underestimate the team instead of hyping it up.
