Will we, the best fans in the sports world, make a difference this season? On September 12, can we bring back the atmosphere we created at RFK, or will it take awhile to build up the enthusiasm?

The fans will be psychotic on September 12. I think there's been too much losing in recent years, though. If the season goes into the tank I forsee the Redskins inviting a lot of empty seats to their home games.

I think the madness will start on the 12th and continue through the season. Already the interest in the team is skyhigh. I heard that FedEx was insanely loud for the VTech game last Saturday, I can only imagine how loud it will get for Gibbs' return.

We will be the 12th man ! No doubt! . . .And SuperSkin will be a driving force that leads the horde at FedEx! How sweet it will be !

i really hope so! it is so frustrating going to games and yelling and screaming while fans look at me like i am odd. i really hope SS and some other key fans can get the crowd going.

Fed Ex will rock next Sunday...

The Tech and USC fans proved it can happen!

That is a good poll ? ........ I really don't know. I WANT to believe we will be, but I've seen how a lot of fans have gotten over the pass couple of years. ................. DocWalker was just talking about this yesterday on AM980. He indicated that the Skins fans have gotten soft. As he put it - "there's even a FM dic jockey to tells you when its 3rd down in order to attempt to pump everyone up " . Never looked at it that way, BUT its true and that's sad. ................. I'll fall back on what I've been saying all along about FedEx - there's has been nothing for us to cheer about. I'm sure Gibbs&Co realize this and know that all they need to do to get the fans back on board is WIN - AND THAT alone will get that place ROCK'IN.

I think that simply the presence of Gibbs on the sideline, will be more than enough to get the stadium pumping throughout the season. Last year my section 419 was always into the games, til the last couple of home dates.

:goodpost:

I've felt this way for the two years I've had my tickets. Why in the world do we have to have all the hype (substituted for the word crap). This is a great example. It's gotten so over-the-top commercialized that it frankly drives me nuts. In the old days, no music, fireworks, or hip D.J. was needed to get anyone pumped up. It's just so artificial and contrived...

Smoakme, that was a big problem for me at Fedex until I got my season tickets. There was one game I was in the box seats and after we had a sack I went into my standard sack dance jumping and screaming. Everyone around me looked as if i was crazy. They looked like they belonged in a library. The other thing that's been a big problem at fedex is the club level. I'm sure there are many fans in the club level that do their part. But, I've been to many games (namely dalless last year) where the place was virtually empty. Everyone seems to be in snyders' den of iniquity drinking beer, smoking cigars, lounging on couches etc. It makes no sense to me. If people want to sit inside and watch the game on tv, why don't they just stay home?

Now that I have season tickets, the 1st game of the year I introduce myself to the people around me, offer to buy them a beer and explain to them that this is a Redskin only section, no opposing fans allowed and that it will be the loudest section in the stadium. Luckily, I've had good people around me so far.

If we AREN'T loud, and we DON'T have an impact on the game, then I think we should be deemed the sorriest, most embarrasing fans on the planet. We have the opportunity to really make a difference, and we better, or what kind of sorry group are we?!?

The first game I went to was Joe Gibbs last regular season game, I unfortunatly haven't been to a game since. I am however going to the skins / bucs game, Joe Gibbs first game back. I am going to do my part and get very very rowdy (in a somewhat civilized way of course) If I lose my voice for the rest of my life it will be worth it

There's no doubt that we'll be a force this year, ESPECIALLY Sept. 12 and Monday night. Personally, I can't wait until we play the Boys on Monday night, to me that is the most important game I will ever see. I'm waiting on SuperSkin to respond here.

We have to be...that is what brought RFK alive....as a kid growing up, I always heard about how important the 12th man is to this team....seems like we've lost it since Joe left...but now we'll definatley have that.

I have, and always will be "The 12th Man." :)

There hasen't been alot to cheer about the last few years, but I am always screaming "defence, defence" or cheering a sack or score the Skins make, but I think this year, I will have alot more help from everyone else.

It has been LOUD a few times lately, like the Jets and Giant games last year, and the Panthers game back in 2001, but I would love to hear it loud at EVERY game, like back in the good ole RFK days.

That will change because Saint Joe is back.

Being the lawyerly type, do you use that polite golf clap at a great play or TD?

Interesting... I don't get to many games, but I was both the 2001 Panthers and 2003 Giants game and I was a little disappointed in the crowd... As a season ticket holder, you are saying those were our good games!!???

Thanks Nam - rest assured I will do my part. We will not "be" the 12th man, we ARE the 12th man. In fact, we have been since Gibbs left. The difference is that we've been a scared 12th man, afraid to get too pumped up because we knew the other foot would drop by game's end. That is over now. I truly get emotional when I think about what will occur in that stadium starting 9/12. Gibb's wasnt the only one who returned to DC - when he came back, so did the tradition, so did the pride, and so did the courage of 92,000 people who now remember that we can make a difference. With God (and the Big Jack) watching, we will make our triumphant return. Hell hath no fury like FedEx Field this year - you have my word.

When I'll listen to the 9/12 game on the (via hell FieldPass) TB radio station, I'll wait for the reporters to say early in the game "Well the audience will definitely be a factor today."
Then I'll be sure the 12th man is there and ready to play. And I'll continue to chant with you in front of my computer screen !

I think that us older ones remember how it used to be...when we won a lot....I'm opimistic that this is the beginning of a new era

What I hate, is that clearly, a lot of seats have been bought up by ticket brokers for these games now and they will sell them to anyone...that's what puts other fans into our house

....remedy...WE MUST START WINNING!

Remember how insane it was starting to get when we won the first 3 games last year!

Actually I think this is different. College games are typically louder than NFL games because the students tend to be a little more into it than does the 50 year old entertaining a client.

VT is known as having one of the craziest football fans around, so you can chalk up that noise to them.

I think it will be different than RFK because the typical fan now is so corporate minded. Too many entertaining clients and all that, so many people don't scream and yell their head off like they did say 10 years ago.

I'm holding out on seeing if the 12th man arrives. I know many here on this board will do their part, but I'm worried about the corporate fan who kills the atmosphere with their wine and cheese approach (anybody here a UVA fan?) :Pickle:

I hope that Fedex is rocking like RFK of old, I know with Gibbs back there's never been a better chance of that happening. Just win Skins, the fans will take care of the home field advantage!
