Who do you think will be more successful this year Champ Bailey or Shawn Springs? Also what players do you see becoming diamonds in the rough.

To we it is all about wins and going to the playoffs rather than personal stats... i'll say springs.

I'm not sure Springs can last the entire season - I'll have to go with Champ.

Bailey will be better than Springs. Of course, the cosmic universe being the strange place it is, it could be that Bailey will blow out his knee in the first quarter of game one and Springs won't miss a down. But that's not terribly likely, is it? Bailey has been better than Springs pretty much since he entered the league. No reason for that to change now.

Bailey is clearly the better cornerback...so I'm not sure much discussion will be made by this question.

We shall see who is better when the season starts. Springs has defenitely had his share of health problems. I think Shawn has more to prove than Champ does. Champ may turn into another Daryl Garderner, where as Shawn will want to prove that he can become one of the better CB's in the league. Really the last few years Champs play has seem to decline but then again anyones would If you got a new coach almost every year. I thought Champ had a cracked sternum or something last year to I wonder if he is 100% now?

Not sure why everyone is saying champ, yea, here's the better cb but, Springs will have a better year hands down! I can't think of anything better than getting one of those world championship rings :)

Champ statisticly will have a better year then Springs.
Sean Taylor will have a better year then all of them
92 tackles, 3 sacks, 8 picks, 3 TDs {PRO BOWL}

I'll go with Champ having the better year, but I think our team will be better.

Portis will have a bigger year then both of them making the loss of Champ seem trivial. :D

i think springs will have better personal stats, cause teams will try to avoid throwing to him. but bailey is clearly the better cornerback.

it depends on what you mean by a better season. statiscally, i could see spring having the better season. bailey had 2 INTS and 67 tackles in 16 games. springs had 37 tackles and 1 INT in 12 games. springs could have a better statiscally but i think bailey will probably have the better overall year.

I think that Bailey will do a better job than Springs this season, but not by too much. That's just one half of it though. Portis is going to have 10X the season the Bronco's RB will have, especially since they lost Mike Anderson for the year. Overall, we win.

Bailey running away. Also I really don't understand how you compare Daryl Gardner to a guy like Bailey who may have an ego but has always been a model professinal. The *FANS* can complain about Bailey as much as they want but he has not once been any kind of disturbance in the locker room.

Stats for defensive backs have always boggled my mind a little bit. Interceptions, sure. Sacks, yeah. But Tackles is the one that gets me, especially for corners.
If a corner has 80 tackles, a majority of those is because the guy he was covering caught the ball. I'm glad you tackled him, but I would have been a lot happer if you hadn't let him catch it to begin with.
I want to see his stats for broken up passes, the average gain by the guy he was covering, and stuff like that. Safeties are a little different since they are run-stoppers as well...but even for them, they get a lot of tackles after the receiver made a big play.
I just have trouble being impressed with the number of tackles a db gets...not that it's a useless stat, just doesn't mean a whole lot.

its easier to get to the pro bowl as a cb in the nfc then the afc. springs will do A LITTLE better, and what i mean by that is by picks

Please. There is no question that champ bailey is a much better corner, and will have a better year. springs is a more physical corner, so the contact rule will hurt his play. Not to mention, we cant expect more than 10 games out of him this year due to injury.

It's going to be like here they will throw to the other corner and Champ will shut down his reciever, he won't have the stats that Springs will but however Springs will not make thwe pro bowl and Champ may this year on rep only. The ones to watch are Smoot and Taylor.

I think baily will do a better job but it will be a expensive job for denver, where as shawn springs will do a decent job and doesn't want nearly the amount of money baily got.

I disagree on that springs will have a better season but quentin griffin (broncos new RB) has looked nothing short of impressive in every preseason contest he has played in. I think Portis will blow him out of the water in yargage yes but I bet Griffin breaks 1000.
sorry, so off topic its not even funny...

Champ's cover skills will be usefull in Denver, I don't think Shawn has the same skills, but he'll have opportunities to show the contrary, looking at the receivers he'll have to matchup with...edit (I know it's not in Williams' schemes to matchup, so let's say Springs AND Smoot will matchup, at one time or the other, some of the best WR's in the league)

Good point. Champ will be excellent but not be worth the monster money he is getting paid.
Portis will light up the NFC East. Smoot and Springs will do good, with an average DL which will occassionally gives the QB too much time. Sean will make a few mistakes but will also make at least once-a-game huge plays.
Sean and Clinton will quickly silence all those who mourn Champ's departure [NOT ME].

we'll see who gets thrown at more. you cant talk about just int's and "passes defensed" without mentioning the TD's they give up as well.

That sums it up basically. I think Champ will have a better year than Springs but I'm damn positive that Portis will have a better year than Quentin (Mini Me) Griffin or any other Denver RB jabronnie. The trade makes us contenders.

Springs or Bailey will have the better season based solely on their Team's performance.
And do you want to guess who I'm pulling for ? ;)

Even if Bailey has an incredible season, he won't get the Broncos 15 TDs a year like some one else seemed to do pretty consistently.
Portis is a freaking man-beast.
